This is a sort of a basic mod as it is my first mod, but it adds some old blocks back into the game the Mojang has taken out. This mod allows you to craft the Full Stone Slab block (and change it back into the half slabs), and Crying Obsidian block. To craft Crying Obsidian, you first take a diamond and red rose dye to make a "Crying Shard" then you take a piece of Obsidian and the Crying Shard and you get Crying Obsidian. If you have any suggestions of blocks or items that you would like to see post a reply!
The title "Nostalgia Mod" is misleading, these were never in the game. I like how you implemented the full slab block, but not so much the crying obsidian. Does it do anything? And why are you using the ender egg texture? Also, why not change the ruby texture to something unique, and have it point to a different file so it isn't overwritten by texture packs? Some people replace that thing with a placeholder, you know.
Secondly, I think crying obsidian should replace beds completely, requiring you to make a small structure to reset the spawn point. It would be something that'd give players more challenge, turning a spawn reset into an expensive luxury instead of a "lol no more monsters" type of thing that undermines the game completely, but that's just how I see it. Maybe your compass could point to it, too.
Still, I can't expect you to do all that because you're new to this stuff. Maybe you should pull back a little and refine your skills before you start releasing mods. Maybe you should turn this into a bigger-scale project, because from what I can tell, a bunch of tiny little unpolished mods from new coders just don't get attention. You need to make yourself stand out like that.
Hey great mod! I was looking for something like this that was not overly advanced. I was pretty bummed that 43:6 is getting replaced in 1.5 so this is great! Well played sir.
Nice job! You should add the sky dimension or rubies next Also, jeb said that crying obsidian was going to be used as a spawnpoint saver until beds were implemented. PS: I think the crafting recipe for crying obsidian should be changed because it is too expensive
Thank you! I am adding rubies right now As for the beds and sky dimension I have to look into the code and how to implement it. As for the recipe for the crying obsidian it is not supposed to be a house building material, its for when you are further in the game, and have resources to move your spawn else where.
I think it'd be more original if you made rubies match their real life uses more closely, or specifically what they were once used for in ancient civilizations, since Minecraft really isn't a game with modern tech.
Rubies have always been held in high esteem in Asian countries. They were used to ornament armor, scabbards, and harnesses of noblemen in India and China. Rubies were laid beneath the foundation of buildings to secure good fortune to the structure.
What if you could use rubies to augment tools, armor, and saddles (other items?), and improve their performance in varying ways?
(also best of luck to you towards implementing the crying obsidian thing)

Try taking making a different texture for the crystal shard and crying obsidian block.
Add a blue crystal shard and the original texture for the intended crying obsidian block.
For the textures you can search it up on the wiki or you can take the terrain.png files from minecraft versions 1.6 and down.
