For those who don't know, a group of modders lead by EternalBlueFlame are making a 1.7.10 port (not rewrite, just porting 1.6.4): https://github.com/EternalBlueFlame/Traincraft-5/tree/1.7, and canitzp is leading the 1.9 rewrite, if I am correct.

Well if it ever gets updated, it be nice to have a working train mod again...
Well. That is the thing. There are 2 very well done train mods. But, None of them are as well thought out as Traincraft. This mod is so well done and cannot be compared to another train mod. The other ones are just not as extensive to the many lands this Train Mod covers. USA,DB,USSR and a few more. The other two(Rails Of War, And Real Train Mod) are good and i enjoy them but they are just no where near as good.

Yes but they are full of glitches, Real train mod is hard to download and has a uneeded Authorization code, Rails of war looks great and has nice track, but the glitches are the killer. But they do fill in the time while waiting 3-4+ years for this mod to update.
Guys 1.7.10 is being worked on, just need to have patients now, the mod is extremely complex, so it will take time.
Yes, but the article in Traincraft page is from August, 2014. Almost two years... So, the mod page is awesome, too tidy but few people would enter into it to download the mod for 1.6...

It keeps the modder from someone stealing the mod. so many people steel mods which this is the motivation for the needed code
the only problem I found with that is, as a modpack creator you cannot get in touch with the mot author for permission unless you know someone who can speak they're native language or you yourself can, and even after that they may not allow you to use the mod within your modpack, and even after THAT you still have the issue of the auth code being required every time someone either downloads for the first time or updates the pack, AND the code changes every so often so keeping up with the code is a pain.
Pardon the long winded explainin' there, just been through it with my modpack when it was private, took RTM out before public release.

It's correct. Eternal, canitzp and Ellpeck are working on the 1.7-port and there are some future plans with the Zora No Densha-Developer.
And correct: Canitzp is leading the 1.9 rewrite.

Well yes, Traincraft is the biggest one and has some cool features but other mods have cool features too - so.. maybe they get implemented later?
A 1.7.10 portis being worked on right now by a few modders. Even though it is a port with no added features, it's better than not having Traincraft at all.
That's it. You can't really want to have new features if this pile of ashes has to recover the last lost 3 years.
To cover everyone:
The biggest step is done. Most of Traincraft IS working. There are some bugs related to Zeppelin Turning, weird Train Turning, Packet Overflow and Switches not working correct. We don't know if the Switches will ever work when TC for 1.7.10 is released but we try our best to find the problem thats causing it. (Little hint: It's only buggy for Locomotives)
One of the big steps the last days was to get out this "$§%& IC2 dependencies. Well, Traincraft works with RF now! This step was necessary.
tl;dr
There are plans for a new, better Railsystem based on splines between user defined points. Will it hit 1.7.10? Maybe, maybe not. Be surprised! ETA for 1.9.x is August, canitzp said. But well. We know ETAs are bad. Be surprised here!
Enough 2 cents for today.
p.s. if MrBrutal get's in touch with me we will have a nice wiki too! (FINALLY!)
It's been a while since my last post but I can catch everything for you now:

Why it shouldn't?
Just a port. More on this later.
we're working with 1.7.10-10.13.4.1614:)

Well, the ETA was before this weekend. This won't work due some really annoying bugs. Maybe 2 - 14 days from now on. BUT ONLY MAYBE!

What about 1.8? If you are gonna make it on a new version why skip 1.8? its a better version compared to 1.9 and it actually works. but anyway least 1.7.10 will have a port
Because we don't have unlimited resources or time.
In the other words; by the time a 1.8 version is working let alone public, you'll be asking for a 1.9 version, trust me, I've seen too many people make the same mistake.

Thats it. Well we would have the time but we did this decision on the mod-compatibility. 1.7.10 is the most modded version so this port was, not from my point, necessary. And the 1.8 thing, well. Most other Mod-Developers will just skip this version - the best decision they could do, because they waited way too long! It's better to push the new version and not support old ones.

This port will work on multiplayer right?
As long as it works on cauldron 1.7.10 (bukkit plugins on forge.) It will be great
by rights it SHOULD work as long as any other mods are compatible with whatever forge version the rewrite is based with.

I very well respect the idea of a authentication code, you can find it for the Real train mod here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7x1sc2jtcwe35ae/certificate.txt?dl=0

You are running Minecraft version 1.7.10, you need to run 1.6.4 to use that version of Traincraft

I'll talk about this at the end of the post
well... no. From my point of view 1.8.x is way easier than 1.7.10. Much things are clearer now.

One of the devs just asked if any anyone had experience with chunk loading errors and that they couldn't release it until that was fixed: https://twitter.com/NitroxydeX/status/741014575479455745
