on a thread in 4chan about minecraft and thats all and will be for 1.8.9(many mods starting to get there soon too)
but wont say anything who making it (since them who making it they seems like they want it as a surprice on they´s twitter but 4chan somehow got a image of it so im guessing the person will be anon for now) (also why i cut the screenshot so you cant see who´s skin it is)
all i know is they said its a rewrite of the mod becuase it was easier
and i asked about Railcraft support(if they will skip 1.7.10) and they seem like to have that in mind as soon railcraft will get to 1.8.9 as they will
so gets hopes up in this mod coming back
i have atleast hopes for it
Well if this is goiong to happen then count me in on the fact that this could be the breakthough that Traincraft needs or rather has needed for a while.. Also now if they could make the Gradient slops hae the bility to move up and down like these gurves, then this could actually make this Traincraft mod very very realistic for Minecraft.. (After al lif this does happen, what's next? The abbility to INtegrate this so you can use the switch levers and Motors from Railcraft as well? (ILet's jsut say that I'm pumped and if this goes to the 1.8.9 upgrade.. this could actually be one of the best mods that our out there..
Starts looking at maps and starting to think about Railroads and a server for a railroad.
Geez, i thought that there'll be minecraft 1.7.10 version.
Everyone is ignoring my favourite minecraft version }: (
Minecraft 1.7.10 was a really good version since there are more than 1300 mods out there adding cool stuff to the game.
Let's look back. 1.7.10 was released back in June 26, 2014 and 1.7.2 back in October, 2013. The 1.7 branch is over two years old.
Minecraft 1.8 was released September 2, 2014, 17 months ago.
Minecraft 1.9 is in front of us all with, what we think, no really gamebreaking changes for most mods. In mind of this there are no really good arguments for a 1.7.10 version of Traincraft.
With that facts my team and I started developing some brand new Minecraft feeling-Modpack based on 1.8.9 since there would be too much to change, if we update it later from 1.7.10 to 1.8.9 or above, the decision we had to made was easy.
And this would be the same thoughts on this 1.8.9 port mentioned in this thread since there are no arguments for a 1.7.10 version except that many mods are still on 1.7.10.
But would you develope something for a car that is 10 years old instead of a car that is not even 1 year old?
@Mrbrutall Don't know how to quickly get to you but I want to let you know I'm starting work on a port of Traincraft to 1.7.
Safe to say, that if someone should decide to do this and publish it (I can't do much to stop it anyway) I will forthwith stop anything and everything I've done for Traincraft and no further updates will be done by me. Also all the sites I manage will probably be taken down.
The only option here is if there is a version someone has done, is to come to me directly and we can maybe work something out, so a temporary version is published.
The open source part is simple, it's the only way I can somewhat make sure 100 more people don't make a clone or do something on their own if I'm gone for more than one day (apparently). And because the old code is in such dismay that open sourcing it would be a crime to humanity.
The open source part is simple, it's the only way I can somewhat make sure 100 more people don't make a clone or do something on their own if I'm gone for more than one day (apparently). And because the old code is in such dismay that open sourcing it would be a crime to humanity.
See this is why a mod like Traincraft should be outsourced. To help reduce the errors in coding that it needs to fuction properly.
Also Another issue is compatability with other mods (Most notably Railcraft). The thting is if the code is in this much disarry, then the only logic I see is to clean up the code and to get it relleased (Complete with tthe copatiability .
Now the upside to this is that the code will be what I feel is up to date. (Once it's cleaned up with Mond compatibility, again most toably Railcraft). Once this is done, I feel that the core code would be complete. and that no further recodings should be done, with maybe the exception if someone were to take the idea form Railcraft and make it a fully stand alone product where certain other mods would nto be needed..
But frankly I think a lotof us here would like to see something productive out of this entire thing.
SO yeah, I think kthe time has come to clean up Railcraft 5, get it funcitoning, Get it working with all the otehr compatible mods and then evne make it better than what Mr. Brutal hadhad created.
I mean if ou look at rail craft and then think about wht that mod has done to improve the ideas of trains ad how to make it a whole lot better, then it's only a matter of time before we all have a great mod.. complete with thigs that will make the TMinecraft Universe Come AAlive..
But until then we can all wait.. and hopefully somene (or rather some people) will come up with the ideas that we need to take this mod to the next level.
I'm currently working on a rewrite of TC for 1.8.9 (and I have been doing so for about a month now) and its going pretty well atm- not much anybody else can do at this point besides waiting patiently. In the future I will probably want other people to do modelling and texturing different trains but I still have quite a bit to do before that.
Compatibility with other mods (specifically railcraft) would be nice, and considering that mine is fully open source it is likely that will happen in some way or another.
If TC's license is not changed and I don't get permission to use the name "TrainCraft" then I will change the name of my project to something else. It won't make a difference to the actual content in the mod though.
That means that the only vainilla minecart propulsion method would be powered rails... gold is a bit rare in terms of building large railways, and taking out the furnace minecart from minecraft there will not be a vainilla style locomotive.
How does that relate to Traincraft? Well, if we want locomotives or something like that, it seems we can't rely on vainilla anymore. We will need to use a train mod, Railcraft, Steve's Carts (but it doesn't have coupling, does it?), Traincraft or some TC-based mod for the propulsion of our trains.
I'm happy that the train mods community is very active and that people are working on updating Traincraft. In my personal opinion, I think a 1.7.10 version is neccesary too, many major mods don't have 1.8.x stable versions yet (IC2 Exp, RC, BC, it seems to me that 1.8 was a sort of Windows Vista of Minecraft lol), but not as a rewrite, just as a port from 1.6.4 sources. Rewriting it for 1.7.10 would take too much time for a short-lived version (maybe not so short-lived). The other alternative is backporting some update. Kudos to the modders who are working on updating this cool mod. I haven't read the license, but I share the feeling that maybe it would be a bit restrictive in terms of encouraging contributions, understanding that the mod authors want to protect their work as much as they can.
You can also, if you want, try to write to Jeb in hopes he will change his mind about vainilla furnace minecarts.
Disclaimer: English is not my native language. Some sentences may have strange meaning at first.
Furnace carts are interesting (and required) for trains because they provide the proper movement. However it only really makes sense for actual trains with multiple carts so if they were removed from vanilla I wouldn't be *too* upset... however mods will always be there for expanding their old functionality if they ever are removed
I can see where you are coming from for 1.7.10 mods, however from a development perspective it will take quite a long time to make a full 1.7.10 version. After said 1.7.10 version has been finished it will probably turn out that 1.8.9 mods have come out of alpha (for example BC is nearly out of alpha for 1.8.9). Essentially it would be better to target 1.8.9 and then release alongside other mods.
I have no idea how far along anyone has got with a 1.7.10 version, but my 1.8.9 version is going pretty well and should be released (as alpha) sometime after BC.
RTM is old news. It's great if you speak Japanese and/or want a very buggy Japanese train mod, and don't mind looking up an activation code just to use the mod. Beyond that, it's a very awkward to use mod with collision boxes that don't come close to matching the models.
Agreede, why use a model that is Japanese and in fact like you said, Old news.. IN fact I personally feel that Traincraft (or TC) is definitely the standard way to go.. and in fact the interrsting thing is that with the new track that came out with 4.2.1) which I like a lot as it gives yhour rail line building a bit more realism.. , but like i siad, Standardizaiton or Integration with other mods like Steves Carts and most notably Rail craft are going to be the key here.. If fract, has anyone looked at Railcraft lately ansd some of the newer features they have? There's a new tool to help you lay the road bed (The undercutter, which allows you to lay down the ttrack frist, then run a vehicle over it that under cuts the area below the track and law down Roadbed (In whatever block texture you want). This would be a really vital part ot track building in TC, as you could lay down your rail firs once you make a grass or dirt roadbed, and ten you run the device on the track you lay and it replaces the blocks under neath the track and along the sides with the texutre you choose.. This is one nice feature that should be TC related..
Other things are control tracks, and of ocurse the one current sticking point with 1.6.4, which was the switch moters and machines not working with the turnouts.. (Also I noted the TC turnouts can be redstoned powered..
TC has a lot of possible outcomes but Let's first wait and see what the coders who are currrently cleaning this code up and porting it to 189 will do, and let's also hope that they will be backward compativle with 1.7.10.. after all there are still a lot of mods that stilla re the standard there.. but once those get moved to 1.8.9 then it will be a truly functional system.

I thought that porting from 1.6.4 to 1.7.10 (the old version, not the rewrite) would be a much simpler process. But I get you, I know some coding too and understand that porting/updating takes time.
I wonder... if 1.9 is nearly out, it would be a similar situation between the 1.8.9 and the 1.9 versions and the 1.7.10 and the 1.8.9 versions. Maybe I didn't expressed correctly but... a new major version is going out soon, there would not be the same problems migrating from 1.8.9 to 1.9 than migrating from 1.7.10? Just of curiosity, not trying to discourage anyone, i was wondering about that because BC started testing alphas for 1.8.9 when 1.9 is almost ready and not before... I think some major mods just will wait for 1.9... we know that we're going to stay in that version of a year, at least, if current development style continues.
But even more than a 1.7.10 version, I would like Railcraft trains capable of running on TC tracks. I looked at some of the screenshots of your work and I think that you're going to set a new level of tracks. I want to test this as soon as is ready.
I started work on porting BuildCraft waaaay back in July, and the first pre-releases were publicly available in November, when 1.9 was a far off thing in the future. (This is the sort of timescale we are talking about for a big mod like BuildCraft, smaller mods obviously took less time).
I think there was about a month of work put in by the asie (BuildCraft Maintainer at the time) and Thog in Febuary, who concluded that it would take too long to port, and stopped.
The main issue with 1.7.10 -> 1.8.9 is that a LOT change internally to minecraft, so a lot of work was needed to convert all of the mod code upwards. Apparently 1.8.9->1.9 is nowhere near as big of a change so it shouldn't take anywhere near as long to port 1.8.9 mods.

1.9 isnt even out yet.. + 1.9 update is kinda bad in general, Im sure alot of people would still want a 1.7.10 Port as theres still alot of mods still on 1.7.10 and I find 1.7.10 more stable...
Yes, mod authors are clinging to it because it's a lot less work to keep riding the 1.7.10 gravy train than it is to move on to the next version. As far as stable goes, that's largely because it's been almost all busywork for over a year for both Forge and the mods themselves.
That said, this mod is opensource so if you want a 1.7.10 port of it, go ahead and get started. The only thing stopping you from sharing compiled binaries is the licence, a licence which in it's current pretty much sets up the mod to be a cash cow solely for the mod's owner, despite not having done any work on the mod in over a year. So once you're done porting it, then you can spend your time supporting it while someone else gets paid for your work.
Lol Just because i want a 1.7.10 Port doesnt mean i can like magically make it...
The license is the biggest obstacle preventing a 1:1 port by seasoned developers. Take a look at the patreon page which is still tied into the current licence. You do the work of porting and supporting, he distributes your work and gets paid for it. Good deal right? https://www.patreon.com/Mrbrutal?ty=h

I agree with you mario

There's no use cluttering up this thread with more uselessness.
Besides, if you're so eager to get your hands on it, go actually help at the Github and further the process.
Learn to code if you don't know, its more helpful than complaining here to actually contribute toward the rewrite.
You're welcome to all the others who are sick of this bs as much as I am.

And here's where the problem begins.

I would quite like to add my viewpoint here.

Try this open source Train Mod for 1.7.10 from the Minecraft Japan forums http://forum.minecraftuser.jp/viewtopic.php?t=13633
Called Real Train Mod. Some one mentioned it in some back posts . It works well and has accessories .
Maybe a bit off topic, but Minecraft Trains related...
Jeb just commented about an old issue about the furnace minecarts.
