I am using this mod from the beginning and I continue to love it, will never be tired of waiting for the update.
Now I am building a very complex and long railway system, realistic, with a entirely by me written computercraft code networked system to controll everything, routes, swithing, lights, advertisements, stations, monitors, sensors, and I am pretty happy with it, I have zero knowledge in programming, but I really wanted to have a try.
Now I have a question, is there a way to uniquely identify trains? I need this to make the schedule program to have diferent trains with differemt routes and on the way deviations. Is there the possibilty, in the far far and not prioritary future, to consider a CC integration? would be nice a definible string to name a train and have it read in some way by a sensor. Also, always not a request, I just propose some ideas, but now I know there are bigger priorities, a way to have for passengers trains only a locomotive and a sort of cab unit on the other side, also just with no function, that would be complex, but just the aesthetical one. I am thinking about terminal station and the complexity in an automatic system to have train change its direction

This is my opinion about the mod, and I think many of us feel the same but few have really said it:
I don't like the course this mod is taking. It is like an "indefinite hiatus". If the author really cared about his community, the players that use his mod, he would have done something in all these months. Something concrete. But no, he comes back, answers everyone in a condescending way, like "I am right, you all are wrong and you should feel ashamed for that." like he's untouchable. No open source, revival/cloning efforts, a temporary unofficial port? No, no, NO. Nothing. He prefers to watch the mod die, or kill it himself, because he apparently thinks no one knows to program as good as him and surely the community is going to produce mediocre clones, as we couldn't know when the mod is a unofficial port/clone and a official version. Do we need to hope he gets fired soon? All he does is complain and make us pray to him to get the mod updated. It sounds to me like the kid who plays soccer and interrupts the game leaving with the ball because he's losing and is annoyed. He doesn't want that the community make clones of his mod because (in his words) "I'm gone for more than one day (apparently)". I don't know that his concept of time is, but it has passed more than a year without any results.
I'm still wondering why Spitfire446 went away, and I think he did that because of differences with MrBrutall more than real life issues. It reminds me to Flowerchild and his Forge-incompatible (on purpose!) mod, just because he hated (hates?) Forge, another angry soccer ball owner. It is good to know that nice modders are majority.
If Railcraft some day implements smooth track curves and train models like this dead mod, then there will be no reason to care for this mod.
Important note: BTW I didn't want to be rude, but reading his answer again and again makes me feel no sympathy for someone who behaves like that. I would understand that he's busy and that, but his (lack of) answers and attitude are not, at least, polite with the community that supports him and his mod. Turn down your ego and think about the people who likes your mod and is willing to help and play it again.
If I'm remembering correctly, 4.2 was when the new tracks were introduced and so the way the trains actually interact with the track changed and so weird stuff happens with vanilla style tracks.
Either revert to 4.14 or replace all tracks with the new ones.

Could everyone calm down for a bit?
I'm just as anxious for the updated train mod as everyone else. Heck, i put off playing Minecraft for a whole year just because playing it without his trains just wasn't the same. But as someone who has worked with coding a tiny bit (not nearly well enough to mod though) and have worked with computers alot, I can say that responsibilities that come with being an adult are kind of time consuming, which is unfortunately what coding is classified into as well, very very time consuming. There are very few bits of "free time" that end up appearing and though I may not know what Mr. Brutal does for work, but in all likelihood when he DOES get those few seconds of free time, he's probably exhausted by "real life" stuff. And one thing I can say as well, is that if you want a QUALITY mod, let him take his time with it. If you're busy for too long, it drains you mentally and often physically, and if you try to force out something as complicated as coding while in that state you are GOING to keep messing up. So I'd much rather wait another year or so (hopefully not too much longer than that but I'll wait as long as i have to) and get an amazing mod than get a thrown up piece of garbage where the trains turn into cakes and go shooting off the tracks at 90 degree angles and fly for about a thousand blocks before exploding.

Not necessarily. Brutal probably DOES enjoy working on it (when he can) and I know I personally would hate to give away something I enjoy doing and have already invested so much time in.

Sometimes you have to realize when it's time to let go. Sure, doing it himself may grant a large degree of creative direction and quality assurance, but by the time it comes out the 1.7.10 modding scene may have moved on to 1.8 (and Traincraft will be dead in the water). I just hope he's considering these things.

Sadly That seems so true, This mod seemed dead long ago, too bad theres no other real good train mod that works as well...

I love reading the comments basically demanding a 1.7.10 update or like posts Kolja with being annoyed. Anyone who knows anything about programming knows that mods aren't made with the wiggle of the nose. Traincraft was no exception. Again, anyone knowing about programming knows that a MC mod the size of Traincraft (20+ megs) means there is a lot of code. Also these mods aren't not done as a job they are done as a part of someone's hobby.
That being said:
I engaged MrBrutal's website and blog over a year ago to see what was going on with a 1.7 MC update. There seemed to be a surge at the end of 2014 with him updating Traincraft. MrBrutal stated that the code would have to be reworked and mostly completely rewritten because of the differences in 1.7, but also because he admitted that the old Traincraft code was all over the place. MrBrutal then began to look for forum moderators and coding helpers through his blog. Things seemed to be going well, but no updates were forthcoming. MrBrutal then seemed to get annoyed and pissed off at everyone posting questions related to the mod about updates. He does not provide updates. I understand he is busy or whatever. We all have things to do. But when you do not provide simple interaction with your "fans" for over a year, that's not a good thing.
I was one who was waiting for a 1.7.10 update. This was the only mod I was waiting on before upgrading because we used it to haul materials around my world map. I even told MrBrutal this to hopefully motivate him. Again this was over a year ago and nothing.
So sadly I have upgraded to 1.7.10 without Traincraft. I am not holding my breath anymore for this mod to ever get to 1.7. Believe me, this mod is dead.
Stop being annoyed and stop hoping he actually writes it.
Actually, in terms of filesize, the largest portion of that is models and textures, everything else is small in terms of filesize.
Actually in terms of file size the largest portion of this mod is the sound at about 11 megs unpacked. Textures comes in at 8 megs unpacked. As for code, that comes in at 7 megs unpacked. 102 folders with 1526 files within the source directory. So yes, there is a lot of code and not small at all in terms of file size. But what do I know? I'm only looking at the actual code.
I'm still wondering why Spitfire446 went away, and I think he did that because of differences with MrBrutall more than real life issues.
No. Talked with him. He doesen't have fun at programming since a few months. He's a photographer now ^^
And MrBrutall talked with Spitfire, because it's his original mod, about the recode of the mod.
MrBrutall only can go open source if Spitfire permits it too.

Oh, sounds cool. I think that Spitfire won't impede the mod going open source. Even more, that is the way that the mod could grow!
So it's spitfire's mod? meaning that MrBrutal can stop working on it and someone else can just contact spitfire and take over the mod.
Start spamming Spitfire future modders
The problem is, that MrBrutall is "still" working, as he has not declared that he stopped working on the mod, but in the facts yes.
The solution, in my opinion, would be, that a group of modders contact Spitfire asking for direct permission from him for creating a different version of the mod (they can say that the mod progress is almost none at this time). That way, MrBrutall can still work at his pace on the mod in his own version, and the modders could improve the mod in their own way. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.
No, the problem is that MrBrutal has had over a year to state that he was actually working on the mod but only has ever said that it was on "hiatus".
He doesn't respond to emails, tweets and rarely shows up in his own thread or even his own website. He's been rude to people for no reason and has not addressed people's simple questions. The mod is still stuck on 1.6.4 while Minecraft is on 1.8.8.
If that's not enough reason to know that this mod is dead I don't know what is. Stop beating the dead horse(mod).
Im not here to flaunt and or anything but, i was here at the beginning when spitfire started this mod, quite a number of updates or features were simple feedbacks on my end, with that said i think this mod was cannibalized by mrbrutal as previously i had access to the github or was it bitbucket sourcecode from spitfire but somehow when mrbrutal came in i lost access to it,as i wasnt a programmer myself it may or may not have been useful to me for having access, but seeing that mrbrutal was receiving donations from patreon and other donation methods without putting up a proper revision of code or updates, updates from 1.47~1.6+ do not count as spitfire returned for a while and did some coding work.
most of you have been taken for a ride paying him donations just for a beautiful website he now hosts it on but with a lack of mod support and empty promises. note to you mrbrutal, dont promise people you are working on it and give up halfway while receiving donations,if you cant deliver please drop all work and the website. mind you this is not a hate speech its just what ive been observing over the years since the mod inception in 2013.hoping since you took over the mod so good things will come out of it instead i see lack of updates and empty promises when even a semi similar mod called railcraft sees a reasonable amount of updates, and even at one point worked in tandem with this mod.
dont use the coding as a hobby or its not a job or among those lines therefore you dont have to put out as much updates and such as an excuse only to take donations for free.
make it open source or i will simply ask spitfire for the old source code and try my hand on it instead.3 years is plenty of time to make meaningful updates.
me to i been waiting for months for it to add to MC 1.7.10
Well considering its been about 2 or more years since the last update, which was still in 1.6.4, I Can safely say this mod is dead now.. which is a shame cause its the only Train mod that works, ROW is WIP and has a poor and boring selection of trains and Real Train mod, Similar story...
Also Mod is now Open source, which i dont know if that means anything specal.
Yes, as mentioned here very recently. Mrbrutal is opening the mod up, so long as he can remain a part of it and jump in to continue to help. So if anyone wants to help build it, go check out the post.
yeah man! i get 5 free sets. what am i going to do with 5 free sets? GIVE EM AWAYYYY!!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!
man, you sound like you're under the influence…

Well, for one you would know if you have been reading the last few pages.
To save you time though, it's kind of not. Your time is better spent with either Real Trains mod, or Rails of War mod.
Figured it was time for a change.
