The only thing i don't like about what i have seen of the next update is all the 32x32 textures, other then that i can't wait for the next update it's going to be so amazing!

azanor said, hes going to scale some of the hd textures back for the update. and the one that stay, are mostly particle effects and things, that still fit into the minecraft style.
like the custom models for wands are more blocky, than the old item sprites.
also, if the beta already hit forgecraft, does anyone know some good streams that are currently running? we may be able to see it in action.

Don't know of any streams, but you could always check direwolf's vids

That's great new for me because one thing i loved about thaumcraft 2 was that it felt like it could be in vanilla but I'm not feeling that as much for thaumcraft 3 because of the hd textures.
it's really going to be thaumcraft 4 there are too much changes between 3.0.5 and this version but with new launcher that is coming to minecraft we would be able to have ALL versions of thaumcraft at once

We know its be stated already, and there is a pic.
I don't know about some of those ideas, but I like the idea of being able to find books that have completed research in it. I think it would be cool to find some of these in libraries in strongholds, it would give that room more of a reason to exist.
personally i think the idea of starting with it is better then having to make it. gives the feeling your an apprentice who was taught the basics and thrust into the world to explore the rest on your own.
though i disagree on the instant loss of research, i think it should be tied to how long it's been since the tome was lost. for example: every 2-4 minutes you lose another piece of research(from a random branch) till you only have the basics to go from.
also recipe suggestion: two leather and 6 shards surrounding a bookcase similar in pattern to the new thaumeter.
combined with the idea of losing research over time after it's destruction, makes it feel more valuable.
ive been watching soryans stream and it seems like there are still alot of aspects, what happened to cutting them down?
There are only 6 base "pure" aspects. What it is is that you now play a little bit of "doodle god" to combine aspects to get new ones from those "pure" aspects.
This does a few things....
1. Lets add-on developers/Azanor make their own aspects in the future with great ease, just slipping them into the system via being a new combination....
2. Cuts down on the number of aspects you have to put to each item.
3. Makes nodes as a source of aspects actually viable, due to them only having 1-2 of 6 types to pick from, vs 48 types to pick from.
are there any warded half slabs or stairs?, i need to stop endermen teleporting in during the rain, but i don't want very restricted feeling 2 block high rooms, normally i would make the ceilings 1.5 blocks high with a half slab, but warded blocks look too different to any half slabs i know to look good.
acoording to vazkii, warded blocks are not in the mod (yet. maybe theyll be added again later. we will see.)

I understand that but there you still craft items with those advanced aspects (in the crucible) and theyre still found on items... The 6 "primal aspects" are really just six diffrent kinds of vis, and i think all crafting should be done with that. Because the way it seems to be now (And forget not it is prone to change) Is you use more advanced aspects to craft things, i think if you got the six kinds of vis, then bottled them in small vials of 4 vis, then you throw those in the crucible (to get your aspects) then throw in you regant (See Soryans Stream from last night) and bammie you crafted something, i think that breaking items down into there research aspects doesnt make alot of sense and maybe a later research will let you breakt them down into pure primal vis (only the six aspects).

Doodle god... is an awesome game, but this does look correct, except you have finite resources and have to recreate elements needed
my take on the thaumonomnom, in the form of a mini-adventure story:
one should locate it when venturing through abandoned caverns, in a spawner hall, maybe with higher tiered monsters or a special mini boss monster. you become curious as to why the monsters in the surrounding area have become more violent, and you prevail against the guardian boss/mobs. you look around the small hall hewn into the rock for any clues as to the situation. in a slightly hidden alcove, you notice a strange looking treasure chest. when you try to open it, the lid doesn't budge. suddenly the hall you are in lights up so you can see your surroundings. in the wall above the chest, you see a glyph with coloured crystal gashes. you notice that the crystal in the wall bears resemblance to several shards you have picked up while mining. on the spur of the moment you try to place the shard near the glyph to see how closely they resemble each other. suddenly the crystal shard in your hand jumps and disappears. where there was a shattered glyph, is now a whole glyph, which appears to be slowly spinning. you hear a loud click that resounds around the hall and echoes for a split second. you reason that the sound came from the chest, so you once again try to open it. this time, the lid raises smoothly. the only contents of the chest are several crystal shards similar to the ones you found, but dull gray and lifeless, and an old weathered book. looking at its condition. you see that it appears to be an ancient tome of knowledge that was hundreds of years old. you think that it would be best to take it with you instead of leaving it here, so you take a cloth from your pack, wrap up the tome, and delegate a space in your pack for it. not wanting to take any risks or have any accidents while carrying this forgotten lore, you decide to hightail it to the surface ad back to your home. you almost fall off a small cliff once while leaving the cavern, but no further incidents arise. in the safety of your home you take the tome out of your pack and set it on the table, noticing that the cover seems to be worn down from years confined. you open it to see if you can decipher the knowledge hidden away inside. lo, and behold! it seems to be written in your language, although in a more archaic form. the first few pages are decipherable with a little effort. unfortunately the rest of the pages seem to be mostly illegible due to them being covered in a brown stains that smell vaguely of coffee. you decide to rebind the book in a newer cover, and to use the first few pages worth of knowledge to try to help you make way of the few words and phrases that were untouched by the mysterious coffee-like liquid.
i kinda shift from idea to perspective in the beginning, but that's just to help me go along with it. anyways, i haven't ranted like that in a while. might actually write a story, haha.
The simplest and smallest things can be the most important.

ya, im already waiting for it to pop up in the videos
but he usually records his videos in advance, so it might take a week longer. especially since hes going to minecon soon. i dont know when.
but the next couple of episodes might be a bit older. and even then, hes probably not jumping right into thaumcraft.
wish, azanor would stream
