is there an Estimated time on when thaumcraft will be available on 1.6.2
i am sure there is a post somewhere in this forum talking about it but i wouldnt know where to find it in the 647 pages of posts
i made this account just to post this because i really want this mod
It'll be released when its finished. Putting any kind of release date out would be a bad thing. Without a release date Azanor is free to work at it on his own pase (and the results in the teasers have been very impressive).
It's very clear your new here as asking for an update for a mod is greatly frowned upon. I suggest you don't do it again in the future and simply learn to wait.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
Thats really dependent on Azanor and how much time he has to put into it. From the looks of it, this is gonna be big, and it probably takes a bit of time to get it all ready. I would much rather he take his time and make it right.
I know but it would nice to have an estimation of when he will be done like I can't wait for update just will he annoying when thaumcraft comes out for 1.6 and 1.7 comes out
On the bright side, 1.7 is primarily a biome update, rather than a massive change to how textures are oriented, among other things. My best guess is that the code won't be as different between 1.6 and 1.7 as it was between 1.5 and 1.6, so if Thaumcraft 3.1 does come out for 1.6 only for 1.7 to come out, we can say "well, guff!"to the biome update in the meantime it takes for Azanor to update. For now, we should just root for him on the current version.

The only thing the 1.7 update has of any value seems to be the Biome update... only the ATG mod (available now) does it 10x better.

Sooooo....... why update again?
Yeah, exactly. I don't mean to knock Mojang's mojo (or the time and effort they put into it), but man, people are just now really starting to recover from the dent 1.6 put in modding. It's sort of dispiriting to see the familiar tide of snapshots on the horizon, even when it's sort of neat to see new vanilla features. I'll be honest, I've never used ATG-- I'll check it out. Does it play well with Biomes o' Plenty?

He is working on biome mod compatibility now. Once done, it will do so. He gave a timespan of ~ 1 week till that is done.
Thing about 1.7 is it is all just speculation and leaked ideas right now. They haven't even started to release snapshots. So before you guys start getting all upset about something that is nowhere close to being released why don't you just relax a bit about when thaumcraft 3.1 is going to come out. We aren't even going to see a 1.7 snapshot for at least a couple months so Azanor has plenty of time to do whatever he feels like. And if he decides to wait until 1.7 is released then it is his decision as the mod's creator and you guys don't need to worry about it that much.

their "redstone update" wasnt so hot either. i expected something along the lines of red wire. vanilla redstone is a horrible mechanic. not even being able to lead redstone up or down more than one block, no possibility, to have adjacent wires not interfere with each other, no logic gates etc.
same for the mob update, they havent really added anything other than horses. it would have been nice to see more biome specific enemies, more done with nether fortresses, like boss rooms etc.
or bringing just a little more life to the world with birds and fishes.
can't really disagree honestly with Stone's point, i kind of get why vanilla redstone is so useless - half the fun is figuring it out - so that one wasn't much of a disappointment really and modders are doing a lot with nether quartz, but honestly, if not to keep mods up to date, i'm not really sure why i'll even inevitably be bothering with 1.6 and 1.7, biomes? errr what? great, i bet the terrain will be much more boring and lacking the unique oddities that once made vanilla worldgen interesting.
at least if nothing else, it's settled that 1.7 and onward will happen, for a bit there i honestly wasn't sure, had been hearing that the ideas are running dry and they're not sure what to do, if they want an idea, redo proper finite liquid mechanics to something useable, that was an actually nice feature that we all kinda jumped the gun on and lost as a result.

24 hours gone again, wasted in futility, welcome to minecraft modding, that is (unfortunately) our community.
(an ode to minecraft modding)
i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
Plus, the daylight sensor is actually useless for the one idea I had looking at it: night lamps. Some mods allow you to invert that, however, like Carpenter's Blocks, the one thing I wish you could do in vanilla, because inverters do not really fit on top of one block spaces all that well. Mojang should really either take a break or work towards the modding API that's been promised for. . how long, now? Besides, they do have other games they make.

It would be nice if they could just finish off that API (except, we don't need it. Forge already is nearly a perfect API for what we need....) and just stop updating for a good year+. Let the mod devs have some nice STABLE fun with the game.
I have recently learned about an incompatibility between Aether 2 and Thaumcraft. I have no idea what that incompatibility is (aether 2 people are saying its anazor's base class editing, while azanor said he haven't edited a base class at all), and I hope that the developer of the mods could contact each other and resolve the issue soon.

Honestly, I think it's pretty obvious why Mojang is running out of ideas for Vanilla - because there is no real design direction. They have just been adding random (and mostly useless and poorly implemented) "features" that don't really do anything as far as any sense of progression or what have you. Definately one thing I agree with Flowerchild about.

Same. They don't hold any true direction, they are a lot like the compasses are in the Nether.

Pretty much this.
I really wish Mojang would hire a real game designer... And not be afraid to change things outside of AI + new additions. I think that they think that they'll be fine if they add in "padding" to the game while making preparations for the Plugin API. (which should have happened a long time ago. >_>)
As much as I think a universal API would be good for the game, Mojang's getting somewhat complacent... Modders have one-upped their content time and time again. Just look at ThaumCraft. Of course "programmers pretending to be game designers" is a common theme among both the modding community and Mojang, but in the end I just don't trust them to take the game in the right direction.

wait what?! what's wrong? thaumcraft is fine he just decided to improve his game (mod) and you think it's just because he can't or is having difficulty with updating. i assure you he is not for is it difficult but for some thing new to be added and not just the same old thing to be added and always stay added but to change and evolve. to evolve not to change on pressure he actually wanted to change this mod since 1.5 but haven't got the time. he puts his foot down to change it for the better and you slander their (mojang included) good names just for it i will not stand for such indecency.

I never said anything about ThaumCraft. I meant certain other mods.

im not asking for an update because i know that will happen, i am just asking for when it might.
i am much better at waiting when i have numbers. any sort of numbers. whether that be a release date, estimated time of completion, or a percentage of completion. These numbers can be vague whether that be within the next week, a month, or winter 2014.
I would also be a little more at ease if there was a 'definitely wont be available before ______ '
and i am trying to type this without sounding like a whiny brat but it is hard to convey tone in text.

I secretly miss Thaumcraft 2 ;^;
I would much rather see them overhaul the lighting in game. this thread here (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1133916-colored-glass-the-original/page__hl__%20colored%20%20glass )is pretty interesting. And if they do end up running out of things to add to vanilla, that is something they could do.

I can't say anything bad about Mojang? OK.
