I've been trying to get thaumcraft 3 to work for the longest time now, but I just can't seem to get past the bugs in forge. The latest recommended forge build is 397, but this requires at least 407. When I use 407, everything works fine until I save and quit. When I try to reload my world, I get an error screen (from what I can tell, forge is corrupting my worlds when I save and quit).
I switched to build 408, and everything seemed to be fine for a while. I could start a new world, save and quit, and load my world without any issues. But then my game randomly crashes for reason that I still don't know (something about ticking being out of sync, or something like that). Again, I assumed it had something to do with forge and switched to the absolute latest build, 425. Started a new world, save and quit and loaded fine, no crashes. I played for a little while, and I didn't have any crashes. But then I noticed that things were really weird. Liquids would move very slowly (and sometimes pick up speed, but then get slow again). In the Nether, it could take anywhere between 2-5 minutes for lava from the ceiling to reach the ground/lava pools (it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds). Water in the overworld flowed about as fast as lava. Also, perhaps the weirdest part of all, the sky was pretty twitchy, most noticeable at night. It would move normally, then jerk back periodically.
So, I ask you all what build of forge you're using, because none of you seem to have the constant issues I'm having (or perhaps there is something obvious that I'm doing wrong...).
Well, I'm using 409 and haven't had any of those problems. are you using any other mods?

Yeah, about 34, but I'm not sure if I tried build 409 yet. I'll download that, and if something goes wrong, I'll just assume it's a mod conflict and post them here.

38 mods, Forge build 409, everything works fine.
409 should become the new 'recommended' version, imo.
409 should become the new 'recommended' version, imo.
Well, that's two in a row. I guess 409 is the magic number. Thanks for letting me know, and possibly saving me so much time (and thanks to Badgyr as well). Hopefully it works and there wasn't a hidden mod conflict I was missing.
azanor, do you use techne? i have a few questions for you:
if you do use techne, how do you merge textures? i see that tables and other blocks use merged sidetextures instead og L,R,F and B.
im making models for my ideas and suggestions( i made the gravitygun and possibly the new portalgun for ichuns mods) http://i.imgur.com/e2dT1.png <----- portalgun model
i want to use minimal amounts of space on my texture pngs so i dont have to make 4 versions of the same texture for each side.
Bug Report:
When ever I get a Thaumcraft Achievement, when I log out and log back in, I loss all my research and all my achievements, Thaumcraft and Vanilla. I am currently using the Thaumcraft v3.0.0g releash and this is happening. o.o

Thanks. You might want to try a different/newer version of ender storage as it seem two work fine for me (using EnderStorage 1.3). In any event i've added code to catch an error like that should it occur.
First off, thank you Azanor! I have been waiting for this ever since you first posted about it. Both my wife and I loved TC2, so this is great!
I am having one problem, though. Last night, it was perfectly fine, everything cool. I load it up about ten minutes ago to show my wife, and opening my inventory, opening anything with a GUI, all I get is a huge white box that says "missing texture". I've reinstalled OptiFine, and switched back to default textures, but nothing changed. Wondering if this is a problem with the mod, or compatibility, or something. Going to post this in the OptiFine thread also.
Keep up the good work, and looking forward to more content!
I am having this same problem, after playing for a few hours the next time I load the game I get the missing textures thing in my inventory and every time I quit the map after it starts doing the texture thing, the game crashes before it finishes exiting.
Here is the crash report.

Quick question for anyone else who's had their aura nodes vanish: Had you entered the nether for the first time shortly before you noticed the aura was missing?
That's the only unusual circumstance I can think of that coincided with the bug. I've been to the nether and back several times since I regenerated my aura without issues, so I'm wondering if it was related to the nether's initial generation.
Does anyone know the required growing space of a silver wood tree, I am trying to grow one underground to get an aura node near my stuff
better have a high roof, not sure how high but I'd say like 10-30 blocks high. and when I plant mine I usually make them have 5 spaces between each other.
Hey Azanor I noticed and I like this feature btw... that plants like tall grass and flowers like to spawn randomly. I think it's due to flux or high aura, either way how about having them affect saplings for trees including the ones in your mod? higher the aura the faster trees grow maybe.

I kinda noticed it, Also noticed random patches of grass deep underground, even when there is not light down there. xD I kinda miss the old Thaumcraft 2 feature that planted saplings randomly if the aura was really high. I kinda want to see that brought back honestly, and maybe (long shot though) have it be able to plant saplings from other mods too (if condition for them are met, of course.). :3
Naturally spawned. I wonder if thats whats been happening to the miners... They dig to deep and find the evils of TC... Kinda like Eureka 7 if anyones watched that. ( except none of the miners died in that =/ )
Is anyone not against helping me out a little and telling me (either directly or through a few hints.) what has the Alien aspect to it? I only know of one single thing, the
ender pearls and their respective recipes
.
One of the music discs has it, as well. I forget which, unfortunately... pretty sure it was one of the green ones. I think it might have been "Ward"?

Depending on your version of Optifine, that might be the problem.. TC2 and 3 seems to have a no-love relationship with some variants of Optifine.
