Apple Milk Tea actually has more varieties of booze than Growthcraft. Growthcraft is far more polished though, even more so than Rob's Booze mod... Unfortunately, in terms of varieties, nothing really has come close to Booze. I stand by my hope that this makes a comeback for 1.7.10. If not, I'm sorely tempted to attempt it myself.
I received a couple messages about these mods. One about the Booze mod, the other Mithril. People what to know what happened. I should tell you.
I started this to prove to an employer that I can. The employer wanted a software developer with prior experience with IBM mainframes, CICS online environment, TSO, DB2 and IMS databases, and PL/1 programming language. They wanted the same software developer to have experience with Microsoft Windows, web development, HTML, CGI, Perl, Java Script, PHP, and MySQL database. And they wanted experience with Java itself. I had prior experience with all of that...except Java. But I had experience with over a dozen computer languages, including Visual C++ with Microsoft Foundation Classes, and Delphi, so learning Java would be trivial. They chose to hire someone else. So I started writing Minecraft mods, just to prove I can write in Java. They eventually advertised the same job, but without the mainframe stuff. I applied again, and pointed out my work with Minecraft mods, and that I did that specifically to prove myself to them. They didn't even respond. I spent two years working on these mods just to get a job, but they didn't care.
I've been unemployed for years. Well, under-employed. I have a home business repairing computers. But I'm a software developer. I tried to run for federal politics, in 2007 won the nomination for a major political party for my electoral district. The election turned out to be 2008, but I won the nomination in 2007. That's when my problems began. The tax agency for my country garnisheed my wages, despite the fact they had already provide a formal written assessment confirming they owed me a refund. My boss required me to resign within an hour of getting the garnishee notice. It was years before I got that resolved, turned out they counted all my income for the prior year twice, claiming I earned twice what I really earned. In 2008 the credit card division of the bank attempted to foreclose, despite the fact I don't have a mortgage. It's a tiny house, but paid for. I had made my credit card payment in full and on time, 6 days before the due date. They claimed the payment didn't count. The bank branch manager did not agree, did not approve this, and ordered the lawyer to cease and desist all legal action. He refused to comply. That took over a year, the lawyer came damn close to taking my house. He played games with court dates, arranged court hearings without serving a summons or otherwise notifying me of the court date. When I did appear in court he started to actually listen. Bullied the lawyer I tried to hire, no lawyer would represent me. The bank branch manager negotiated with the lawyer on my behalf, and she was actually the bank officer who had authority over all accounts other than the credit card. When I got the income tax refund (for multiple years), I offered to apply it all to the credit card balance. He told his client that my offer was full and final payment, not just a payment against the balance. And the bank manager was my agent who passed on that offer. The lawyer lied to his client, and bank executives could verify that by talking to the branch manager. A relative offered to loan me money, I offered to pay the entire balance of all accounts, according to documents I received directly from the bank. I did not pay their legal fees, and they did not pay mine, but most importantly I did not pay the additional money the lawyer tried to defraud out of me. The bank agreed. There was more back-and-forth, but this is too long already. In the end they did not take my house, and leans on my land title were removed.
However, they damaged my credit rating so badly that I couldn't open a basic bank account. The branch manager had agreed to open a new account, identical to the one I had, but the credit card division prohibited it. No credit union would allow me to open an account, even a basic account. A friend through a computer club introduce me to legal aid. A local university had a law school, students provided legal advice. They had a single lawyer (called to the bar) overseeing the students. I talked to the actual lawyer. Turns out credit unions are governed by provincial law, so allowed to do that. However, banks are governed by federal law, and they are required to provide at least a basic account. So when my bank denied that, they violated the law. So I went to a different bank, which was pleased to hear their competition screwed up so badly. They were willing to open a basic account for me. I quickly restored bank services: deposit without funds being held for 2 weeks, ATM, online banking, utility bill payments online, debit card. With an actual bank account, was able to create a Paypal account.
I got a minimum wage job as a cashier for the overnight shift (graveyard shift) at a big-name convenience store. When the federal election came by, the party disallowed my nomination over all this stuff. I asked for help when the problems happened, but they wouldn't lift a finger. They appointed someone else. When I found out I was the candidate he replaced, he asked me to be his campaign manager. He offered to hire me with his computer store after the election. Two days after the public announcement that he was the candidate, the same bank pulled the same stunt on him. I was there when he got the first call from the bank, clearly heard both sides of the conversation. They did to him what they did to me. He did hire me as a computer repair technician, but at minimum wage. He paid all his staff that. At least it was computer related, and I could sleep at night. But the bank forced him to sell his business. New owners changed much of the staff, so I lost that job too.
The same bank pulled the same stunt on two candidates for the same party for the same electoral district in the same year for the same election. No one will ever tell me that was coincidence. The election authority goes to great lengths to ensure average citizens can stand as candidates, but only someone who can hire a lawyer can deal with all that. The lawyer I tried to hire was intimidated, backed off. The owner of the computer store was a millionaire, he had a lawyer, and he wasn't able to defend himself.
The convenience store won't hire me back. The assistant manager doesn't like the fact I took a technology job. They have a new manager, but he hired temporary foreign workers. He's allowed to pay them slightly less than minimum wage. So I can't get that job back.
But I'm still scraping by. The home business doesn't earn much. I haven't been able to pay vehicle insurance, so my vehicle is parked.
I'm not asking you guys for money. I haven't updated the mods since Minecraft 1.6.4 so I certainly don't deserve it. I'm explaining why I haven't done it. And they really changed a lot with Minecraft 1.7, Forge was radically overhauled. Several people want mods for 1.7.10, not to skip to 1.8, and now there's 1.9! I could use a good tutorial for migration from 1.6.4.
Well, I volunteer one full day per week, tomorrow is volunteer day. The Computer Lending Library provides a two year loan of a free refurbished computer to low income individuals. When government departments or crown corporations upgrade their computers, rather than throw old ones in the garbage, they're donated. An organization cleans off all government data, installs a fresh copy of Windows, then donates them to charities. The place I volunteer is one of the charities that gets them. Right now they get Windows 7, they're always a little behind. But I don't like Windows 8 or 10 anyway. If a computer gets broken or infected with a virus, they can bring them back for a free repair. I'm the repair guy. But we only repair computers issued from the Library. They let me hand out my business card to others, about half my customers come from that repair. So for me this isn't entirely altruistic. I started volunteering just to keep the habit of going to a job with regular working hours, working with others, maintaining network and server systems (it's bigger than what I have in my home office), and "networking" with other computer professionals. And simply working on more customer systems keeps my skills up. The supervisor is someone I can use as a reference for job applications. The Macintosh expert has shown me how to repair iMac and Macbook systems. The Linux expert showed me how to setup a Linux server, I hadn't done that in many years. He wasn't able to get Clonezilla to work, so I took that as a challenge and got it done! He setup a Linux server to run Minecraft for me, so I have a small dedicated server to test mods. So it's important. Gotta go.
That's terrible. That sounds like an episode of the Twilight Zone, sorry it was reality for you.
With regards to the mods, I wondered if you would be willing to put the original source code on github (I see a lot of other mods do that), then you could get help from the community. Just a thought. I am brand new to MC and to mods, and I was looking for a mod to let do a real life hobby (home brewing) inside another hobby (computer games), like hobby inception I am also a programmer (Delphi, C#, Java), so I would be happy to help you get this upgraded to more recent versions of MC. Currently, I am using MC 1.12. Anyway, I hope your life has calmed down since then.
