1. Can someone tell me how to enable specular reflection from placed torches and lava? Tried different shaderpacks but only reflection from the sun is actually working. (how to enable specular like this? )
2. How to enable light from the equipped (not placed) torch? I know it is possible (it works in Sildurs mac shaders V8 ultra water), but cannot find how exactly.. See it in the video.
Completely ignoring this? Really? This rather trivial hack could potentially re-enable waving grass for all current, past and future shaders, regardless of texture pack. What does one have to do here to get a dev to respond?
Do I really have to start yet another competing shaders mod if I want this fixed?
You'd be better off to PM Karyonix directly, or talk to Sonic Ether through his Facebook page.
Karyonix is finishing up the TextureNM algorithm (which is directly related to what you are talking about, so, a PM may be helpful -- or perhaps he already knows how he is going to fix it), and moving this package to a coremod. Then SonicEther is taking it over. Or, at least, that's the word right now..
I don't think either of them really monitor the thread, Karyonix once in a blue moon, but they have lives and they are both busy.

Will try PM'ing karyonix. I just figured he'd get tons of PMs the likes of "doesn't work help plz!!!11" and so just deletes any PMs not from people he knows... but maybe I'll get lucky.
And I'm not on facebook and never will be.
But thanks for the reply anyway.
I'm not on facebook either, but that didn't stop me from e-mailing him, and donating to get access to his dev builds.
He may be able to incorporate your ideas into his release(s) of GLSL Shaders SE, and maybe even the final builds when he takes over.
Regardless, hopefully you get some replies, and your ideas translate into a better working shader :)!
Hey, what texture pack is it ? It looks very cool ! Thx
I think it based on ParallaxCraft stretched to 256px + reflection from the torch. And YES it is beautiful that's why I ask'd about it. But current shaders did not give you the ability to reflect light from the torch. Only from the sun. And pom implementation is really messed up, pixelated. I'm frustrated.. It is really hard to obtain information from people.

Sonic Ether has a new M1/M2 with bloom, it uses his new GLSL Shaders SE 1.46, but has exactly that effect. Perfect POM, and "bloom" from sun/lava/torches/etc.
You have to donate on his Facebook page to get access to his dev builds..

Great news! I will wait it then! But.. why should we need something 'new' if it was implemented 'before' even in ooold 1.6.6 minecraft? I dont understand.
I thought you didn't have facebook?
The shaders for the first pic are really just a demo to show off the bloom and don't have any water, and the shaders for the third pic can be nice at times but for some reason seems to reverse the specular on certain texture packs :/
I don't have facebook . It's all public photos, lol..
Ya, I noticed there wasn't any water. It's completely missing. I was going to grab the water files from L3 and drop them into M2. Play around with it a bit.
I just have to be careful: the K-series works on my AMD machine, L-series does not, and the M2 works... I tried merging composite2 & composite1, but they are multiple passes with the same variables adjusted for each pass. I can't merge any data..
<Rant> The answer, they need to program in OpenCL! lolz.. Silly that one mfg works, and the other doesn't (as long as they aren't coding in CUDA or something). DirectX is DirectX, doesn't matter the mfg, the code is the same. Same with OpenGL (yes, GL this time not CL).. Differences in versions, but the version capabilities of my AMD 6000 aren't any different than your GF 600.. Actually, the 6950 has more horsepower than the 660 does (the 660ti is about the same).. Man, I just want to buy a card that has the best bang for the buck, put it in, play, and have fun. No bs.. <End of Rant>

It's because of the way that textures are loaded now in Minecraft 1.5.X. That's why it took so long to get Normal Maps, specular, bump, and POM working again. There's still an issue with the texturenm algorithm that Karyonix is rebuilding too..
Man, can you guys chill out? Nagging for updates isn't allowed, forum rules ban that.
I'm sure Karyonix is going to work on fixing the texturenm algorithm before he worries about an update to Optifine. It would be a higher priority on my end, seeing as it is killing some mods from working (Ender Storage, RailCraft, IC2 ...).
Not that big of an enhancement either, turns fog off by default, and adds a clear water tweak..
You can fix the fog issue by yourself if you're having it, and the clear water tweak probably isn't used by anything yet..

Can't find a working link though.
I'm dropping my entire 1.4.7 - 1.5.2 archive of Optifine & GLSL into my SugarSync drive.
I'll post a link shortly.
P.S. There is a link on PG93.
EDIT: Thx Eskimo
