Does anyone know if it is possible for mods to add their own shaders for rendering mod added content (blocks/entities/items)? Or is it just that everything drawn is rendered using the same shader(s)? I am used to Unity3D where every entity is rendered with a unique material, and the material can be customized to determine what shader is used to render it.
Edit: Like what if I wanted to make a shiny metal block, with dull chipping paint on it?
You can do that with the shaders parallax and specularmaping.
Learn to give us details about your hardware EVERY TIME you encounter technical problems and ESPECIALLY when you have problems with mod that have heavy impact for game rendering (shaders in that case).
To help you - give us details about:
- CPU/processor (manufacturer, detailed model and frequency when overclocked - no for "Intel Core i5", yes for "Intel Core i5-3350P")
- graphics card (manufacturer, model, GPU and MEM clock if overclocked, reference or not - no for "AMD Radeon", yes for "Asus AMD Radeon HD7770")
- RAM (size, type, latency values - "4GB" might not be enough, "Kingston 4GB 1333MHz 9-9-9-24" is way better)
- OS (with architecture - like "Windows 8.1 Pro x64)
- other installed mods (if any)
You can easily check CPU, GPU and RAM with a program named CPU-Z - the system properties window is not detailed and is sometimes unreliable
There should be some sort of comment rules that the topic owner can set for people... this is getting rediculous.
1. If you have a problem with shaders, always give us your hardware details, including the default specs (by right clicking computer, and going to properties), and giving us your graphics/video card.
2. Do not ask for an update.
3. Shaders will always require Forge.
4. If you have a problem, always check througout the recent posts if that problem has already been stated before, or if the owner already knows about said problems.
5. If you have any fps troubles, make sure you have optifine installed besides shaders. If you still have problems, it could be your graphics card.
6. If you have a crash, always post a log in your post. Make sure you have it in the spoiler code, to keep chat nice:

paste here

Hope this could help. Edit: Who edited my post? Just would like to know.
Hi, sometimes, some of the mobs don't show all their body. It becomes quite often when i active a shader and less frequent when there is none, but still show up. Here's what i get anytime it happens (no crash though) :

It mentions shadercore mod which means your mod, but also backpack, i have betterstorage and backpacks mod that add backpacks.
edit: i use optifine c7 for minecraft 1.6.4, but i applied the patch you provided , i mean optifine fml
Thanks for you concern.
This may be an optifine error. I've had the issue where body parts were missing. Try to reproduce the mod without shaders or using an older optifine version (if there is any recommended version).
Hey I'm here to report a bug with the shader mod. The enchanted items do not show their animation. There is just one or more purple lines on enchanted items that look really ugly. Please fix!
My Specs
Processor: AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 3.20 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System
Graphics Card: NVidia GT 640
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
Pictures of bug: http://puu.sh/6wOgp.bmp http://puu.sh/6wOk5.bmp http://puu.sh/6wOlM.bmp http://puu.sh/6wOnT.bmp http://puu.sh/6wOps.bmp http://puu.sh/6wOtP.bmp
I know this is not the shader pack I have tried with different packs and they have the same bugs so please fix
are there any pics? no, its not that i dont trust the mod (ive seen 5 mod reviews on it so yeah...this things legit) its just that, there are different shaderpacks instead of just enabling shadows, hd stuff, and everything else they include and i dont know which one is which!
This is what happens when I use the new shaders 10.1 preview.
Can anyone help me?
Specs:
Intel Core I7-4700mq Quad Core 2.4ghz per core (3.4ghz when using turbo boost)
Nvidia Geforece 745m
Windows 8.1 64-bit
latest nvidia drivers, 332.21
You have a mac, don't you? Turbo boost is Apple's word for overclocking. Anyways, macs lack the proper drivers, even with the right mobile GPUs. If you could research for custom drivers, then you might get the chance to run the shaders.

Look at the op for the shaderpacks and click the links that direct you to them. You should see the threads for most shaderpacks that are ready for download.
If you have any specific one in mind, I'll give you a more in-depth look into it. Chocapic's shaderpack doesn't have a thread yet, so just give me an example of a shaderpack and I'll try to find the one that is.
Minecraft itself and java itself aren't multi-gpu compatible. A mod won't change that, really.
I've got voxelmap working with shadermod v2.3.1 and with Optifine B7. Optifine C2 gives me the exception access violation (may be linked to a driver problem).
Could you clarify which forge version you're using? Thanks. Also, I'm assuming you're using the forge version of voxelmap?
Halp? I don't know what i'm doing wrong. I hope there's a way to fix this w/o just getting rid of the mod.

I see your running Forge #1017,downgrade your Forge version to #1007. That was the last version of the Forge that is compatible with GLSL Shaders and OptiFine C2 Ultra.
I can launch the game but when I try to load a World Everything goes crazy.
It already is..... use 2.3.1 shaders mod and c2 optifine IT WORKS

Windows 8.1 + mac? Even if it is, windows I think supports newer openGL even on bootcamp or any other mac's stuff (I'm not good with mac) It seems the same thing as my friend. For me the latest driver works fine with v10.1, my friend said "it doesn't work with the new one". Try installing other driver or uninstall the drivers (look in youtube for it)
I did figure it out. In Nvidia control panel you can set games to run off the dedicated graphics card. Which I had set before, but I had set javaw.exe to be run off from the dedicated gfx, I changed it to java.exe and it works now! ~30fps.
I get a problem when turning different ways, shadows seem to disappear/flicker. This happens with any shaderpack by the way. Is there a fix/setting for this?

Hope this could help.

you have ver 2.3.0, which is not compatible with optifine, use the 2.3.1 shaders.jar it'll fix it
This may be an optifine error. I've had the issue where body parts were missing. Try to reproduce the mod without shaders or using an older optifine version (if there is any recommended version).
Use version 2.3.1, because you are using the oldest 1.7 version for shaders.

I know this is not the shader pack I have tried with different packs and they have the same bugs so please fix
Could you clarify which forge version you're using? Thanks. Also, I'm assuming you're using the forge version of voxelmap?

I have windows 8.1. And not a mac. Brand new Lenovo laptop.
I see your running Forge #1017,downgrade your Forge version to #1007. That was the last version of the Forge that is compatible with GLSL Shaders and OptiFine C2 Ultra.
It already is..... use 2.3.1 shaders mod and c2 optifine IT WORKS
