Anyone making a tutorial for the Designer? And what are the limits of the mod? Can you for example add sounds for equipping armour, sound played when you kill someone, sound for different kind of damage (fall, sword, bow etc.) or even separate sound files for your own character and other characters when playing online?
I don't think so, since I couldn't find any sound files for that. But that would be so awesome!!!!
Does this mod offer the ability to let's say make the thunder sounds quieter? So if I were to install this mod would it mean that I could go and edit the thunder sound files to be quieter without Minecraft re-downloading them whenever I login?

You would have to make a sound pack to do so.
Make a folder on your desktop and title it "Quieter Thunder" or whatever. It doesn't matter.
Go to your minecraft folder.
resources >
sound3 >
ambient >
weather
There are 3 thunder files here. Duplicate them, and put the duplicates on your desktop.
Now you can edit those files, making them quieter if you wish, and then drop them into your "Quieter Thunder" folder. The last step is then to drop "Quieter Thunder", which is now essentially a really simple soundpack, into the audiotori folder, which should be at the top of your minecraft folder if you've installed it correctly.
Then you just press F9 in game to make sure it's running, and then you should be good to go.
TL; DR
In response to your actual question, no.
The way Audiotori works is by creating an entirely new sound ecosystem for the game to access, completely bypassing the game's default sound files. This way, those files can stay the same - so the game is happy - but it simply doesn't access them when Audiotori presents an alternative file.

Is it possible to customize certain block's sounds? It would be a nice feature. I want to change a stone slab to a wood sound, but to my knowledge, it isn't possible. Is there any other way?
Of course it's possible! I have done it with all of my soundpacks. I find that Audacity is a great way to change Minecraft sounds.
The sounds you are looking for will exist in the Step and Dig folders located in sound3.
I'm asking this because there aren't any step sounds left for me to give my creaky wood sound to. And, the block type must have a slab form which leaves only wood and stone, which already have sounds. Hmm... I'm beginning to think that I'll have to find a mod.
As far as I know, this mod only allows the replacement of existing sounds. It does not allow the inclusion of sound files that do not correspond to those in the vanilla game. Meaning, no, you probably aren't going to be able to make a unique red wool sound.
I'm trying to keep my mods to the minimum, so I won't bother with matmos. I think I've come up with a solution, anyway. The only thing I can really do is texture grass as wood and set the grass sound to the wood. The project I'm working on doesnt need grass, anyway. Thanks for the help!
I thought there was six step sounds and four dig sounds for wood? What project could you possibly be doing that needs more than ten types of wood sounds? o.O
clicking the the adf.ly link, doesn't show anything but a white screen. disabled adf.ly squisher, still happened. i honestly don't know if it's on my end or on adf.ly's.
I'm not having much luck with this mod so far...
I'm running Feed the Beast (minecraft v1.4.7), with audiotori for v1.4.6. The menu works fine and I can see the sound packs, but none of the example sound or any I've downloaded here on this thread or any I've tried to make myself will work.
The console gives me this output when I enable a sound pack:
[INFO] [STDOUT] (ATSystem) Performed 0 substitutions (sound3/).
[INFO] [STDOUT] (ATSystem) Performed 8 installations (sound3/).
I assume this means it didn't update existing sounds, which is correct... I tried the silent footstep pack and I can still hear the footsteps even with the pack enabled.
Is there a possible way to change the menu key to something that is not f9? Because on my mac, f9 changes the size of the window and does nothing when I hold fn.

Um, I have a question about the mod. I downloaded & installed it alongside mAtmos, Optifine, Forge, Better Anvils, CraftGuide, Better Animations Collection Revived, & CodeChickenCore. I placed the "TalkOfTheTown" soundpack in the Audiotori folder, but when I walked to my Survival village, there were no silly voices. Are any of the other mods I downloaded incompatible with Audiotori?
Odd, I can't reply to my Soundpacks thread in my Signature. I have sent a Help Ticket and am waiting for the Reason. But all of My soundpacks are full, except for the Music Discs. I never figured out how to change those.

There, I changed my Signature and made a new thread. Bring on your Soundpack Idea's! I've been thinking about modifying my already existing Soundpacks, but not until the new update.

I'm having this exact same issue. Did anyone with FTB get it working?
I followed all the steps necessary, installed it in the minecraft.jar that the FTB launcher uses, it shows up in-game, but nothing changes.
I would like to give a suggestion to the mod creator.
Adding commands that can toggle on/off your soundpacks. For example:
/Play [soundpack-names] (toggle on soundpacks)
/Stop [soundpack-names] (toggle off soundpacks)
/Xplay [soundpack-names] (toggle on soundpacks and turn off everything else)
This could be controlled with command blocks, thus, this mod would allow players to create atmospheric backgrounds with music, etc. to custom maps and such. (Only desert themes play while you are in a desert area, while cold/frost themes play while you are in tundra, etc)
Nothing to complain btw, this is just a suggestion, the mod is GREAT so far, but I think it could be improved with what is said above, thanks for creating this mastery, cheers!

Anyone have suggestions?
I would, but for some reason I am unable to.
You should make your own topic where you put downloads for all your soundpacks. I think they are very nicely done! Keep up the good work!
EDIT: Now I see you have one
You cannot reply to the tread you started because the Content Packs section is now archived. Lord_Ralex explained why this has happened here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1759147-why-is-this-in-archives/
