EE is an ESSENTIAL MC mod. I cannot play without the Philosopher's Stone and Swiftwolf's Rending Gale. Don't even get me started.. I need the Evertide Amulet, Divining Rods, the Red Morningstar, and Alchemy bags! The toys and gadgets in this mod make MC so much more fun -- but most importantly, it makes all other mods so much more fun too. I wish Pahimar would leave everything in, and add more fun stuff with his terrific imagination (and may I recommend a Glowing Talisman of Full Brightness that lights up an area around the player of, say, 5x5 on the first level).
Now the whole world stands on the brink, staring down into bloody hell. All those liberals and intellectuals and smooth talkers - and all of a sudden, nobody can think of anything to say.
So pahimar this is a total rewrite of ee2 so are you planning on adding new armor and maybe a new type of matter?
It's a complete "reimagining" of EE. From his stream, Dark Matter will still be present, and while some items like the flying ring will be gone, others that have similar purpose. for instance, the flying ring will be replaced by "Boots of the Direwolf," which is completely awesome.
And for those who say this is all he has to show for six months of development. Disregarding this is a pre-release for a moment, released because of the constant ing from people asking him when an updated version will come, you people do realize Pahimar has a life outside of modding right? He does this for fun, not to please you.
I for one am excited to see how the mod develops, from what I heard of the new mechanics, they definetley seem more entertaining Remeber the point of the mod is to have fun, and while energy condensers were useful, I wouldn't exactly call them fun. And there will (and cuurently are) be ways too change one item to another.
I do have a question Pahimar, if you can give us a little more insight into the mechanics or purpose of red water, and how it will be used in the future. Also, since this mod is now open source, and you will have an api for it, will this allow people to create addons for the mod?
And I thought about this, soul sand should have an influence on creating the philosopher stone, if you have some FMA influence involved. Or it could be a way to "repair" it if you decide to add a damage value after each usage.
I understand that it's really impossible to make balanced, which is why I suggested it be one of the last items you can get in the mod. Balance isn't really an issue when you're flying around shooting lightning bolts at at anything that moves (or whatever the equivalent power items in EE3 will allow you to do). Besides, I don't really see how it's unbalanced. It's not like it allows you to create more emc than you would otherwise; whether you fuel it with cobble or gold ingots, you're still destroying an amount of material exactly equivalent to that which you're trying to receive. Now, if the condenser allowed you to say, generate 10 diamonds for the "price" of 7, that could be an issue.

I feel a deep need to correct your first sentence. It is a terrible idea to say "it's not yours, so you can't complain!". Without complaints and criticisms, there is no need for improvement. There NEEDS to be dissenting opinions in order to spark discussion on either how to improve the mod, or justification as to how the mod is fine as is.
With that out of the way, I'd like to apologize for my comment regarding TC. I didn't mean to imply I thought Pah was ripping the idea off from TC, I just meant I had a feeling that with a change to a more machine/industrial setup with various arcane systems wired up to each other in complex ways, EE3 would feel too similar to TC. Maybe I'm just stubborn to change, but I already miss the simplicity that EE2 stood for; being able to consolidate resources to slowly work toward the awesome power items. I don't want to have to memorize all sorts of obtuse wiring systems and pointlessly complicated game mechanics a la Thaumcraft just to be able to play the mod at all.
But maybe I'm wrong and the release version will be like EE2 but better. I'm not holding my breath on that, but I'll wait till the release to give my final judgment (as if anyone cared what I thought )
See, the problem I have with removing the condenser is that it is the most useful thing ever added to minecraft. I'm not even talking about using it to make unlimited diamonds or whatever, just simple stuff like making bricks without spending an hour meticulously searching for/smelting clay. Or being able to create a decent supply of arrows without having to kill dozens of chickens and spend a half hour destroying gravel over and over to get flint. Or hell, just being able to take something useless like lapis or excess redstone and turn it into something I'll actually use, like massive amounts of iron for armor.
In fact, I have another proposed solution to balance the condenser (well, make it MORE balanced at least). Remove the ability to create the more powerful items in the game (diamonds, power item components, whatever replaces dark/red matter) and just have it be able to duplicate stuff like building blocks and raw materials like wood and glass.
Balance is hard, especially for the author. I struggled with how to balance for a long time and the only thing I have been able to come up with is to allow folks the ability to customize the mod (via configs) to how they like it. Something similar to Collectors/Condensers could come in the future, but if they do it will be a configuration option and it won't affect the balance of the rest of the mod depending on how you flip the switch. At the end of the day I'm concerned about this being fun, and people (players and server admins alike) should have the ability to tune it so that it is as much fun as possible. It's not an easy thing to accomplish (A LOT of planning goes into it) but it's a big priority for me and I will make it work.
Just be patient. This is pre1, not the final version.

ok so firstly the changes to ee3 are totally reasonable ofcourse it stole some fun from the game, but i've been playing ee from the very early versions and the removal of dm tools kind of sadden me .
another thing to say is that Pahimar was working on this for 6 MONTHS and i think he needed to add a little more work to the pre release than he gave us right now 4 items and a liquid? and most of them dont even work! i really expected more from this, i know this is only a pre release and he will add more items soon but why didn't he add them now he had a 6 months time to make this mod. and i know you guy's will say the items are buggy or something SCREW THAT! he added a calcinator and it doesent even do anything.

Some corrections. It's been four months since the last released version of EE2. This is not my primary job; this is a hobby and I am incredibly busy in my life as it is. In those four months I built a house, helped my fiance transition careers, got a new dog, as well as all the normal things that happen in an adults life socially. I code this when I have time, and made my coding of it completely open to you all. You can see at any time the status of things, and you can even contribute to it to make it go faster. Some have, and I'm incredibly grateful for that. I wish this was further along than it was but I struggle to find time for this on top of all my other responsibilities. I made a commitment to see this through however and I will. What you don't realize is that we had a massive infrastructure change in the middle of this development and I had to throw away everything I had done before and start over. I'm also trying to do this the right way and not a hacky way so that other developers can learn from what I went through and make better mods themselves. It's not as simple as throwing a hacky new "Clap hands, make diamonds" mod out the door dirt fast.
Please understand that mod developers honestly do not owe you anything, and no we don't expect anything from you (other than to respect our content and licenses, etc). I know you are disappointed, but more is coming. Trust me.
No does not^^. He prepared for coding 4 months ago. Setting up the builds and licencing stuff has not much to do with coding, he tried some things out but basically he started with the release of 1.3 and he has some more stuff ready, which is not in this prerelease for several reasons.
Minium should be Cinnabar, but since this is already implemented in other mods, he called it Minium, which is latin for red lead. Actually Cinnabar is a kind of mercury ore (HgS), which actually has a relation to real alchemy, since it was used to produce mercury for a very long time. I guess you produce it with red water, which is another ressource in EE3.
I guess the prerelease is not primarly intended for bug-testing, but also for having something to play with while you stream and talk about your development
Since he has a another stance than Azanor or Eloraam on releasing unfinished mods he might just released it as some kind of teaser, since he felt no reason to not to do it. But this is only an assumption.
Correct, this is not for bug finding purposes. This is so that you guys have some basic functionality to play with while I work on more of the playable features.
And yes, it's called Minium because I didn't want to confuse people with Cinnabar from TC3. I would have loved to call it Cinnabar but I want to avoid that confusion. It could change though (it's just a name in the language files).

If I remember correctly, he said that he does not intend to add a destruction catalyst into EE3
I made this account to thank you, pahimar. EE had so many fun aspects to it, but made it much too much like creative mode. I'm looking forward to seeing what this becomes, and how it can be used for both survival and FtB-style maps.

This mod is compatible with any other Forge mod. If you are having compatibility problems I would recommend asking the non-Forge authors to move to Forge. Likely they are doing base class edits and Forge mods will be incompatible with them.
I'm intrigued by the red water. I've tried adding new liquids to minecraft using Forge in Minecraft 1.2.5 but I could never get it to do liquid-type things such as restrict movement. Under Entity.java it said to only slow down the entity if it is inside Material.water, not any other material. The liquid I wanted to add was Nitric Acid, HNO3, which would hurt entities upon contact. I hurt entities by iterating over the loaded entity list on each game tick, then calling isAABBInMaterial(hno3Material) and if true, calling attackEntityFrom(). Because of this I couldn't easily change the material back to Material.water, because otherwise it wouldn't hurt entities on contact.
I'm curious as to how you made the red water apply status effects, but also push around the entity and slow movement through it.

This was my favorite mod by far. I'm very sad to see the majority of it will be left behind. I tried reinstalling about 4 times wondering "where the hell is everything?" before realizing it was working as intended.
I realize this is only a pre-mod and Pahimar has big plans for it's future, but given what he's already said he's not planning on bringing back, I am simply shocked.
I realize that this mod as it was did receive a lot of criticism for being unbalanced and too easy, but I don't see the point in striving for balance in a sandbox game to begin with. I was in awe the first time I fired up a condenser or used a destruction catalyst. It's going to be difficult to adjust to playing without such fun tools and toys again.
However, I look forward to seeing what Pahimar has planned. Thank you so much Pahimar for the free and wonderful entertainment you've already provided me. I wish you the very best.
