This mod adds one new ore, which can be crafted into one block, and one toolset. Not too exciting right? However, every single aspect of the mod is configurable, from the ID’s, to the textures, even the names.
Texture changes have become much easier to understand in Minecraft 1.6.1.
Now, there is one texture included in the mod for each block/item (all of the others are still available in another download) titled Your****.png. To change the texture, simply make a new texture titled Your****.png, unzip the mod, look in the assets folder, and replace the old texture
For example, you can change the texture of the ore from this:
Simply by switching two files in a folder.
Two factors go into the generation of an ore. They will be explained in the spoiler below.
Rarity - Obviously, how rare it is to find a vein of your ore.
Vein Size - How many blocks of your ore will show up in a vein.
Is Your Ore a Gem or a Metal?
Ores typically behave in two fashions. One being a gem, the other a metal. Metals drop the ore, and must be smelted to obtain the material. Gems however simply drop the material.
There's a value in the config titled "0 for Gem 1 for Metal", obviously if you set it to 0, your ore will act as a gem, and vice versa.
Smelting (Relevant Only for Metals)
XP From Smelting - This will be how much XP you will gain when smelting your material.
Material From Smelting - The amount of your material that you'll get from smelting.
Hardness - how long it takes to mine, the higher the number, the longer the time.
Resistance - the blocks resistance to explosions, the higher the number, the more resistant the block.
Light Value - slightly self explanatory, but its fun to do a demo for.
Here is a block with light value set to 0:
And here is the same block after the light value was changed to 1:
Harvest Level - sets the materials that your tools can harvest.
3 - Harvests everything diamond tools harvest
2 - Harvests everything iron tools harvest
1 - Harvests everything stone tools harvest
0 - Harvests everything wood or gold tools harvest
Uses - sets the maximum amount of uses for your tool.
Efficiency - sets how quickly your tools will mine.
The lowest efficiency in vanilla is wood, at 2. The highest efficiency is gold, at 12. Try some numbers, see what works for you.
Damage Against Entity - sets the damage that your tools deal when striking another mob.
Enchantibility is mostly unused, as the tools are not yet enchant able. -- Sorry --
Making Your Material a Fuel
You will find a value in the config titled, '1 for Fuel'. By default it will be set to '0' but if you change it to '1' then your material will be a fuel! After you set your material to be a fuel, you need to set its burn time. Burn time is explained in the spoiler below, but by default, your material will burn 1 item, and your block will automatically burn 9 times that.
Just to be confusing, burn time isn't based on the amount of items a fuel can burn, its based on the amount of time that fuel burns in ticks. However, to make it easy for you, I have the conversion to number of items.
You will notice that the default value for burn time in the config is '200'. This means that your fuel will burn for 200 ticks, which is the amount of time it takes to smelt 1 item. Therefore 400 ticks is 2, 600 ticks is 3, 800 ticks is 4, etc.
This table may help:
Ticks -- # Of Items
100 -- .5
200 -- 1
400 -- 2
600 -- 3
800 -- 4
1000 -- 5
For higher values you may need a little math, but all you have to do is multiply the number of items you want to smelt by 200, and that is your burn time in ticks.
All of the items and blocks from this mod will show up in its own tab in the creative inventory. Originally, this tab will be titled "Your Material" but it will change as you change the name of your material in the config.
Thats pretty much it! If you've made some cool textures for the mod or anything, you can post them and I'll add them to the OP for people to download
The block crafting recipe and axe textures seem broken, by the way.
As for suggestions, I'd love to see the ability to have multiple ores, enchanting and the ability to name the items.
Thanks I appreciate it I'll add it to the OP as for the issues you found, I'm uploading a version right now which fixed them, and your suggestions, enchanting and more ores will hopefully be soon, as for the names, that may be difficult, but I'll give it a shot
