Keeping heat up is super easy, i always run around with several shroom tea's, they fill the temperature bar like halfway for 1 cup. 3-4 is enough for 1 night.
Agreed, I have a 1x1 lava pool next to my mountain home, I just stand next to it for 10-15 seconds, and it usually gets filled all the way, it's certainly improved, I don't get how people still have trouble with it.
I see there's mentioned Skolle & Grunt before specially, but in this certain situation where they are able to swiftly go through walls or fences, and then suddenly visits your home without knocking on the door?
I may be a sissy, but I disabled their ability to spawn because of that (JAS), heh.....
Also if i may ask, is there a way to disable certain monsters. It appears that Anemias are overwhelming my server, 4-8 spawn in 1 area and are causing alot of grief for players. Just wondering if theres a way i can lower their spawn or disable them entirely.
I recommend using Just Another Spawner to solve the spawning issue with Anemia. I use it myself on my server to disable Skolle & Grunt. Also Anemia, but I'll allow him later when we've made more progress with long ranged weapons.
Most overworld mobs will only spawn on grass, so making a wooded floored home would block most mob spawns in the plains biome. The only exception is Grunts and Skolles, which can teleport to the player. To counter them, the player should have a weapon handy, a good weapon to fight them is the Limonite Sword, and after you've unlocked the haven, the Crystallite sword can be used.
Skolles & Grunts are going to be moved out of the plains biome in the next update.

I'm in the same boat. The system has been nerfed to oblivion yet is apparently still too hard.

Live in the desert, it works great. The Lava idea works.....As long as you dont have a wood home, another idea is to have a netherrack fire place.

Admittedly I was not expecting that results....it can't be right, I for one have to much a hero complex for that to be right and two: I am one of the most Pessimistic people around.....yea I have no idea how I got Mew.....
Now I got it, this is the Pokemon I would be. And I am not just saying that because I like Mewtwo, I really am a lot like Mewtwo.
It´s problem is actually that it feels a bit too much like a chore, as it´s just a decreasing meter that damages you once it´s empty for now, without giving any positive effects at all, unlike hunger. I guess that even adding a weapon that changes depending on temperature and adding a few boosts from having it high, such as making it cause buffs to be slightly stronger, making health regenerate faster, or making food deplete more slowly would fix that.
While I'm not doing this, what you said actually gave me a neat idea. What I can say thus far, no more thermal system. However, it won't be losing all the stuff added for it. You'll see later!
Something that bothers me quite a bit is the insane amount of copper coins you end gathering over time, and the inability to exchange them without finding a (very rarely spawning) banker. Right now I have a chest full of useless copper coins. A good thing to add to this would be an overworld banker, or even a "bank block", to make coin conversion a little bit easier.
First of all: great mod. Me and my friends have had a great time playing it.
I guess this may be pointless seeing how you are teasing a removal of the thermal system, but I would like to share my two cents anyway.
As it is right now, it does feel like it adds an interesting challenge to the game -- Especially when in cold, harsh dimensions like Lunalus. With that said, though, I'm certainly in favor of nerfing it so that there are two stages of cold -- Losing the temperature below our current lowest level, where we normally take damage, would end up in a slow; but somehow graphically you'd convey it now is past freezing and imply the dangers of getting colder. Once colder, you'd start taking damage, like usual.
Another thing I feel needs to be addressed is the range of the heat lamps. It seems like, from observation, that the effects stack if you put more heatlamps around you. Which makes logical sense, right? It's a bit of a chore to bring three heatlamps with you as well as a silk touch pickaxe, but it's alright. What's more annoying, however, is how precise you need to stand in between the blocks to get that positive effect to stack up.
I'd vouch for a larger area of effect for heat lamps and campfires; and not nessecarily one that degrades on the basis of how far away you are from them. If a heatblock can reach me from 3 blocks away, that's enough to be less frustrating while still not beneficial to a ridicolous extent.
And thirdly, I'm a bit uncertain as to why you wouldn't let the new ores be affected by fortune on a pickaxe? You get some of the rare overworld ores in large quantities through having a high mining level, anyway -- And honestly, I feel like not allowing the fortune effect here only amounts to unessecarily shrinking the metagame to be a more linear and grindy experience. I'd like to favor complexity here, because it does let players feel as if they're "exploiting" their equipment to the best use they can, giving them a sense of accomplishment through clever thinking.
The short range prevents lag. I might be able to increase it a bit with no noticeable effects. The ores don't work with fortune currently because the game doesn't recognize them as ores. This however, may change in the future.
I use AoA (or Nevermine) on my server which is what brought me here.
I have been following Wiki drama. If someone else can maintain it I am glad to host it for free. (I'm a freelance webdesigner when not doing everything else I do)
I want to play this mod, but am slightly scarred by the daytime spawning hostile mobs. What is the best way to survive them at the beginning?
dont care about mobs if you have reis minimap. Just avoid savanna/desert biome. I didnt know about hunt skill & start playing in savanna biome. this was really hardcore
PS:509 on the wiki page.
I have 3 full chests of coins & still cant get banker because dont get access in require dimensions)) you can try find banker in dustopia or lunalus

Let me know if you are interested.
Trust me, you wouldn't want to if you knew the sheer prices & bandwidth usage. However, through some Curse connections I've been in the talks with Gamepedia and it's very possible that a new wiki could be hosted there.

I find the easiest way to find bankers in the current version is in Lelyetia. The only prequesite is the Haven which is very easy to unlock and survive in. The none-hunter mobs of Lelyetia are managable.

I'm sorry, but I am completely new to this mod, and the wiki is currently down, so I have no idea what you are saying.
