Damn...
58 stones? :|
Well maybe that's from an older version.
Sorry about that.
The rock discovery rate in the version I'm using isn't that high.
ALTHOUGH it's completely random so maybe you found a lucky spot? : /
Honestly though it's problably just the old test versions fault.
You know what... I"m going to update tonight
Releasing this version asap... I'll update this post when I've updated the download
No worries dude, I know how mods can take a while to get right and youre doing a fine job.
I look forward to the update !!
Just had a thought (yep I get em sometimes) and thought I would post before it was gone.
With "nuggets" and "chips" being in your mod, is there a way to maybe pan for gold or have a sifter of sorts?
Just trying to think of alternate ways to get resources that make you do different activities.
Another thing that I love but is always overlooked by Mojang is fishing.
We need to make this a surefire way to keep you alive, AND make it interesting with a variety of fish.
If youre going to live in a shack, you need food, especially when youre making stamina a real thing in Minecraft so what better way than fishing. With animals becoming sparse and the dangers of travelling long distances to find food, a shack by the river is a great idea.
Then you could incorporate things already in MC like vegetables, fries made from potatoes, fish sandwiches from bread and cooked fish, so many things that I have longed for and never gotten from Mojang
Just throwing ideas around again mate, just slap me if im getting annoying, but I can see such huge potential for the survival game and this mod is the future of that particular piece.
When I first looked into your mod, the most interesting part for me was the torch tweak.
Simple, unique, clever. (chest and bookshelves are too, but less interesting for me)
Now, it looks more and more common and complex.
Getting more like TerraFirmaCraft, with the uncompatibility of BetterThanWolves :/ ( 20+ base class edits 0_0)
I see there is still a mod_torchWoodDead.class inside your mod. Can it work on its own, whithout all the base class edits ?

Once 1.4.4 comes out I'll think about re-releasing the mods separately.
It's a huge pain to release 5+ mods separately ever update.
The time spend working on the seperately is time I would rather spend modding.
I think I'll have 2 packs.
TweakPacK And TweaKrafT
TweakPack having torch burnout+Bookshelf fix+SingleChest fix.
TweaKrafT having ALL the mods.

Actually I like that idea quite a bit
I've added excavating [digging the top layers to find valuables] to the yet to be released version.
Panning for Metals would be cool... HOWEVER I would likely make it drop something smaller than nuggets.
Not sure though.

I used to update the mod with 6 different mods... however it nearly TRIPLED the time it took to release the mod.
However you made a good argument for me to at the very least release 2 separate mods.
1 for minor changes, and 1 for game overhauling.

Yeah agreed, maybe like gold chips that can be processed into nuggets, that way its not OP but a good use of your time to do it. Got to make it fun too

So...
9 Ingots = 1Block of Gold
81 Nuggets = 1Block of Gold
729 Grains = 1Block of Gold
Just like the shovel thingy... to prevent people from mindlessly panning for gold I will bind drops to locations.
So if you pan the same water for gold it will eventually not pay out anymore... assuming it could ever pay out to begin with.
Grains be placed in a 3x3 to make 1 dust item.
9 grains=1dust.
The dust will then be smelted into 1 nugget.
I plan on making it so all dusts can be smelted into a solid... except for gunpowder...
I want gunpowder to blow up a furnace destroying the furnace but returning some of the rocks used to make it.
I'm planning also on requiring the furnace for more metals to be combined.
So you place 9 grains in the crafting table to get dust, which you place in a furnace to get nuggets.
You then place 9 nuggets in the table to make a pile of gold nuggets which is smelted into ingots.
You then place 9 ingots in the talbe to make 1 gold brick block which is smelted to make a solid gold block.
I want it so also if you smelt a gold block you get a gold brick block, which is basically 9 gold ingots.
And so on down the line.
The same thing is done with cobblestone and rocks.
You place 9 rocks to make cobblestone, which you smelt to make smooth stone.
You can then break that smoothstone to get rocks... or smash it with a hammer to make cobblestone OR gravel.
I will call them grains of gold
Since that is the only name which seems fitting for their size, and is actually used to describe gold size apparently http://wiki.answers....in_gram_of_gold
Agreed, sounds more apt for this aye...

Maybe the sifter / pan is quite flimsy, costs hard earned resources to make and has low durability, that will stop people just sitting there doing panning and nothing else. Also, will you need to take water in a bucket from the river to pour into the sifter / pan? Maybe you could add a wooden bucket that will only hold water for this operation?...

That was too much... sorry for rambling : /
Was a good ramble dude, makes sense and helps me to understand the angle youre taking...
As for the gold sifter idea...
I'm not really feeling the whole "pan durability" idea.
I mean, the shovel excavation thingy gives gold rarely however uses a little bit of shovel durability.
The water panning/sifting shouldn't really damage it... I mean using a bucket doesn't damage the bucket.
The idea is that sifting will take time and a tiny bit of effort AND require you to move around in a smart way.
I'll think about how it will work more
I might have it only work in naturally generated water blocks...
Also I will probably make river biomes have a chance of placing said gold panning blocks randomly.
I will probably use a tile entity placed on water generation to mark where gold panning works and removing the tile entity upon panning.
This will require you to explore for gold panning, which isn't really mindless and most importantly is harder for someone to make a bot for.
I really hate cheats and that's one reason I want to prevent people from bot'ing things I add.
OH
In the future I plan on setting up a hamachi lan network with this mod running.
I'm not sure but I remember that hamachi can simulate lans across the internet, meaning that since this mod works with lan right now.
That I wouldn't need to make some bukkit server/plugin waste of time bs for it.
All good dude, im just throwing things out there that might be in context with what youre trying to achieve.
Mainly because youre making Minecraft into exactly what I want, and ideas are free
Just glad something from my cluttered mind was useful haha...
Cheers,
TG
Glad you hear that Mr.Gofa
Literally all I'm trying to do is make minecraft how I want it to be.
I like that people share a similar idea of what minecraft should be
One idea I had, I wrote before but we didnt discuss, was this...

I've liked the idea of adding fish mobs which the fishing line interacts with.
HOWEVER... you mentioned the dangers of traveling... and well.
Part of what this mod already does is force you to be nomadic early game.
Until you've gotten a reserve of iron and even then... You're often better off cave hunting for resources.
This is just an opinion though... as after you get iron tools I suspect you may be able to play more like vanila minecraft anyway.
Adding more food items is a good idea.
But I'm not a fan of adding non-sense food items
Fish sandwhich... so it's bread+fish.. : /
I'm big into function and not so much into style.
However I can see the appeal of such items.
I'll look into adding sandwhiches as well as maybe adding various other base food items.
I also plan on making it so cooking rotten flesh removes the chance to cause "hunger" but doesn't change it's base food bonus like most cooking.
I also plan on eventually adding dead bodies as part of the natural environment, with right click functions added on the dead bodies to get things like meat&bones&skins.
I would also need to make it so dead bodies go through a decay process.
Fresh dead body
Rotten dead body
Skeleton
However this is all in another part of this mod...
I will get around to mob modding eventually... however I'm still focusing on stuff close to the player.
I've added a random base item drop chance to excavation.
I'll be uploading the mod tonight for testing.
You would gain bonus damage+mining speed+durability.
Not a lot, but just enough to make the diamonds worth while.
I just found a major bug
Fixing it now before releasing the new version
No worries dude, I know how mods can take a while to get right and youre doing a fine job.
I look forward to the update !!
Yeah I agree, would be a good improvement but nothing too show stopping, kind of a stopover till you can get enough to make a real diamond tool...
