Here are SOME of the changes I remember off hand...
1)Shovels can now excavate giving goodies... some random but some based on the dirt location.
2)Adjusted rock and stick natural spawn rates.
3)Added relative durability [damage to durability is based on the block being broken]
4)HEAVILY nerfed wood tools and slightly nerfed stone tools.
5)Buffed obsidian mining speed to compensate for it's increased cost "due to relative durability"
6)Villages now spawn in semi-flat biomes [snowy, jungle and forest] Village gen problem fixed in next update
Sounds like youve gone through all the scenarios, so im all good with your decisions
Just fishing is "there", all the time, easy, unlimited, untouched from Vanilla and such a waste, thats why I thought of it and really wanted someone to do something with it.
The sandwiches etc I can understand what youre getting at, I just like the idea of necessity, need to get food, need to get fish, need to get sticks, need to kill spiders for string, need to make a rod, need to grow wheat, need to make a furnace (need a cooker in there somewhere that makes food at 1/2 the cost, like to see you put anything in a furnace, would be ash in seconds) need to cook the fish and bread, why, because fish heals 1H, cooked fish heals 2H, Bread heals 1 1/2H and a Fish Sandwich heals 5H.
Thats my thinking on the fish/fishing/food, Im a firm believer in use every little scrap, as long as its worth it
Looking forward to your update mate, if you need testing help please let me know what you want me to do, im already a tester / aid / video maker / helper / shoulder for DrZharks Mo Creatures, so I would be more than willing to help out.
Cheers,
TG

The purpose of sandwiches makes sense for carrying more food with you.
I hope you enjoy messing with the new update.
Magic launcher is claiming there is an error but I don't notice ANY problem when running it so I would just ignore that if you're using magic launcher
There is 1 thing I forgot to change...
1) I JUST BARELY fixed it so you can remove excavated dirt blocks [the download has been updated with this fix so please redownload]
2) Currently swords and attacking mobs in general doesn't damage tools in the correct amount.
This means weapons will last seemingly forever. I'll be fixing that tomorrow.
Looks much better, had a hard time finding enough stones to make chisels for the workbench, heaps of leaves and good amount of sticks but you have to break twigs to get them so much better.
I just got stuck, as in im a gonner... Made the workbench, made a pickaxe to get some coal for cooking and torches, found a coal in the ground by some surface stone, broke the coal (while standing on it, old saying dont mine straight up or down, fell down 2 blocks, dead !!!!!
Cant mine normal stone, cant break dirt blocks with pickaxe, no blocks to put under me, dead lol...
Love the mod.

That kind of thing happens.
It's something I suspect some people will rage over, however it's realistic.
Yeah agreed, its my own fault because you never mine straight up or down and I should make sure I have the right things with me before digging myself into trouble

Maybe you should make the dirt digging a bit harder, like when you "destroy" a dirt block once it converts into a half slab. Maybe only like diamond shovel would destroy the block with one time. It will add the little realism parts into the mod.
Well the trick in minecraft is that destroying a block with weaker tools takes longer...
In this mod it works like this.
WoodShovel_vs_dirt = 5/4[1.25] seconds to break
StoneShovel_vs_dirt = 5/8th of a second to break
IronShovel_vs_dirt _.= 5/16th of a second to break
GoldShovel_vs_dirt..= 5/16th of a second to break
DiamondShovel_dirt.= 5/32th of a second to break
ObsidianShovel_dirt.= 5/64th of a second to break
This mod makes it so it damages a tool based on how long it takes to break a block AND you are exhausted more longer that takes.
This means there are 2 things that encourage better tool use.
IN ADDITION to these 2 reason, you also have the increased drop rates for higher tier tools.
These 3 reasons give me little reason to further nerf love level shovels.
Think of it like this...
In the time/energy/tool durability it takes to break 1 dirt block with a wood shovel...
You could have broken 8 with a diamond shovel, as well as getting 4 times as much drops.
I don't feel like I could justify nerfing wood much more than I have.
Did you had a look at http://terrafirmacraft.com/ mod? This is a kind of mod like yours.. may you get some ideas of that.. i like the idea to make minecraft bit more real / harder like terrafirmacraft does it. But Terrafirmcraft is very complex and not compatible with lots of mods because it changes lot of baseclasses ... gameplay .. go ahead and you get lots of likes... -->> +1 and lots of
Relative durability tool changes
This shows how many solid stone blocks each tool tier of pick&hammer can break... the wood and stone picks need hammers to make the block into cobblestone.
Some people might react poorly to the thought that diamond only breaks 800 stone.
However if you use diamond to collect obsidian shads[breaking 32 obsidian max for 1 diamond pick]
You can expand the total number a diamond pick can break.
By then using the 128 shards you get, to craft 32 obsidian picks.
Ignoring the Obsidian repair-ability, the obsidian picks could then break 4,480 stone.

I've known about TFC for a while now.
I like some of what it does... however for me, my goal is challenge.
TFC seems to add a LOT of realism, however in the process it removes many of the things which make minecraft feel like it does.
I want to mod minecraft, not turn minecraft into another game.
Thanks for the encouragement
My mod does change quite a few baseclasses sadly.
However I avoid it as much as possible.
I'm very open to suggestions as I suspect the replies may imply ;D
So please feel free to help me make this mod into a mod you would play
Early game tech-chart.
Normal minecraft goes like this.
Punch tree, get wood.
Use wood to craft crafting table and wood pickaxe.
Use wood pickaxe to get cobble, and use cobble to make stone tools.
Get some more wood and food, dig a stair case to bedrock and start mining for diamonds.
ANY experienced minecraft player gets to start mining for diamonds and iron within their first day in vanilla minecraft.
This mod changes that.
NOW you have to work towards getting iron, and each step makes the game progressively easier.
Once you get your first iron pick, you need to carefully build up an iron reserve, then start using caves to hunt for gold.
Once you get gold, now keeping enough iron should be easy, and hunting for diamonds is now a possibility.
Diamond tools however need to be used wisely.
Their base stone break total has been reduced, however if you use a diamond pick to get obsidian.
Obsidian tools can be used in diamonds place greatly increasing it's lifespan.
An unenchanted diamond pick can only break 800 stone blocks.
So it's far wiser to use diamond to harvest obsidian shards.
1 diamond pick can harvest 32 obsidian blocks giving 128 obsidian shards.
Those 128 obsidian shards cab be used to craft 32 obsidian picks, each faster than diamond and together totalling 4k+ stone blocks.
Remember that "stone blocks" is used in the place of "uses" since tool durability is based on the block it's breaking.
So in short, extend your diamond tools lifespan by using it to get obsidian picks.
Which is smarter to use while mining through stone anyway as the lack of drops doesn't matter, and it boosts the total blocks breakable.
Extends stone broken from 770 to 4480
Make it so zombies are immune to knockback, and slow/grab the player on attack. I think that should easily make them a bit more difficult to deal with.
This is how you craft a chest. I'm sorry about not posting all the recipe changes yet
I'm thinking about changing the recipe.
To 2 half slabs with and iron ingot in between, this would represent the 2 halfs of a chest with the metal for hinges and locks.
In the future I hope to make locking chests with crafted keys
As for the ideas about buffing monsters.
I'm on board for that, I'm about to start work on the mob moding However the damn vanilla minecraft updated to 1.4.4 8[ SO IM GOING TO SPEND TODAY GETTING THE MOD UPDATED TO 1.4.4
ARGH!!! Ninja`d after all that time getting the picture
TG
Sorry about not having all the recipes on the forum.
I've changed nearly every recipe, however I work on moding more than I work on this forum
PS. Was there much change with 1.4.4? I thought there were mainly fixes, but I dont mod so n00b here haha.
I'm not sure yet.
I check each file one at a time so I'll find out soon enough.
If it takes a while for me to update to 1.4.4 then it's a sign that A lot has been changed

The only think I can think of is making a guide showing recipe changes :|
However that might asking too much as There are a LOT of recipe changes.
To be honest, I'm not sure about iron being in the chest recipe. You really don't need iron to make a chest in real life, it seems to be mostly a visual thing.
