Posted 26 January 2013 - 03:30 AM i have an idea for a psychedelic biome Multied colored flowers. A bleak, black sky with little to no stars. Lots of fog, There will also be the occasional mooshroom or giant mushrooms. It will have a special form of grass, "dread trees, dried up dead trees like in the dead forest but with special wood. The water will be multied colored, with special properties to grow special mushrooms, that get you high. Basically the mushrooms would have to be grown like sugar can but only in this biome or the dark, and next to this special water. I think ill call it the Insane Biome.
i guess no ones liking my idea... it is a very hostile biomes. :/
i like hostile biomes and dark biomes, although im not a fan of geting high.

Glad to see you guys found the flower pot mod - it's so much easier than each mod implementing it's own flower pot (as long as mine works as intended, that is).
I just started using this mod after flying around a singleplayer world for a day or so. Each biome is so unique, and fresh, even when put up against Forgotten Nature and ExtrabiomesXL. It's definitely a top mod in terms of how much content and the quality of the content that it adds to the game. Thanks!
I'm having the same issue as Aappleyard. Greatwood and Silverwood trees from Thaumcraft 3 don't spawn in any of the additional biomes added by the mod. After some tests with world generation it seems they will only grow in any vanilla biomes that have spawned into the world.
Red Power Indigo plants don't seem to want to spawn naturally. Though if you toss bonemeal around they will appear.
I have another issue. Along with Villages, Silverwood and Greatwood trees not spawning. Neither are Aura Nodes... Which makes Thaumcraft 100% unusable with this mod.
Actually, Aura nodes do spawn, but they're much rarer. I usually have to travel long distances (usually by flying in creative) in order to find them, but they exist. This might actually be a bug in ThaumCraft3, if it is checking for specific biomes when generating aura nodes.
Hey dude. It is me again. Everything is going well so far with this mod but I have a little problem. I can't find a village. I guess it isn't generating . I went for over 5 km in every direction and I didn't find a village. Could you please help me ?
Old Forest
An ancient, dark forest engulfed by large, twisted trees, where spiders dwell and thrive. Colors: Leaves and grass are of a very dull brownish green color, just as wood covered in mold. Water is pretty much the same color, while the sky is slightly darker and grayer than regular sky. Terrain: Mostly flat, with no patches of sand or lava. Vegetation: A lot of tall oak trees with canopies so large and thick they obscure the sky (if possible, the trees should be bigger than regular trees and their trunk should be twisted). No kind of tall grass or flowers here. More mushrooms than in regular forests, some thorns, ferns and vines. A few cobwebs here and there. Mobs: only spiders, bats, silverfishes and dire wolves (see below) can spawn here. Pretty much as it happens in mineshafts, this biome generates some spider spawners surrounded by cobwebs; the spawners spawn regular Spiders, Cave Spiders or Spitting Spiders (see below).
MOBS
Spitting Spider
A light brown spider with a special attack: throwing a cobweb which sticks to the player's feet (as a regular cobweb block). Enjoy being unable to move while a giant bug eats your face. Drop: strings, cobwebs.
Dire Wolf
A big, fiendish wolf. Always hostile, attacks any mob on sight including other monsters. Cannot be tamed. Drop: leather, rotten flesh.
BLOCKS
Mossy Wood
Tree trunks in this biome are different from regular oak wood only for their grayish appearance and because some of them can act as Stone Monster Eggs i.e. spawning silverfishes when broken. Crafting: It can be crafted into Oak Wood Slabs or Sticks, otherwise useful as decoration for making old shacks and things like that.
Mistletoe
This bush can spawn on the ground or attached to wood and leaf blocks. Crafting: It can be crafted into Mistletoe Berries (see below).
ITEM
Mistletoe Berries
Berries crafted from a Mistletoe bush can be thrown at mobs to scare them, making them run away and assigning them the Weakness I effect.
I think, I think we found a winner here! I'm not too sure about the wolves though, wouldn't there be item drops everywhere in the biome? (if considering their nature; they kill both neutral and hostile mob)
Though it would be cool trying to round them up in fences and getting them to fight each other.
The aura nodes from Thaumcraft 3 do spawn - they are just very far apart and can be weak. It can be a pain, but it's not as bad as the Silverwoods/Greatwoods not generating. It's my understanding that auras are generated in areas were there is lots of nature (The strongest are usually in jungles for example). So the wide spread, low powered aura nodes might be because Thaumcraft is checking for vanilla biomes and generating based them on what it finds.
Will you be reducing the number of Block IDs this mod uses for the next update?
Not the next update, but hopefully soon after. Switching to metadata for things like leaves, saplings, etc. will take a while, and since it's not really crucial, it can wait.
Hey I was just playing around with the mod and I noticed that I can't use shears on custom leaves. I tried it on the one in the Mystic Grove, I just thought a blue hedge would be amazing. So my question is: Will you add this feature at some point? Would be great!

I can use shears on the leaves just fine. It doesn't collect fast nor decrease the durability of the shears, but it works.

I beleive this is a known issue.
I noticed this as well, and a few of the new items (saplings, bamboo) can't be used as fuel in furnaces.
Though it would be cool trying to round them up in fences and getting them to fight each other.
