Hey guys, I just updated the mod to be multiplayer-compatible! However, the mod now requires ModLoaderMP (And ModLoader) for both singleplayer and multiplayer. There are detailed instructions in the opening post for both client and server installation.
Now, there was a slight problem with custom blocks being used as top/filler for the Wasteland, Mesa, Quagmire, and Deadlands, so I had to replace those with vanilla blocks for the server mod. This is only for the server mod, and doesn't affect singleplayer, however, so you'll still get dried dirt, red rocks, etc. on singleplayer, just not on multiplayer servers.
I've tweaked some other stuff as well:
- Added Autumn Leaves for the Seasonal Forest
- Made it so Tropics can generate like a normal biome, and not an island (I don't think it worked anyway)
Also, I've put up a test server for you guys if you want to check it out: 76.120.167.133. I'll be on the server for a little bit, but then I'm heading to sleep. I'll try to leave it up as long as possible while I'm sleeping, so if it goes down, I won't be able to restart it until I wake up.
I'm very new to mods, so I'm sorry if this is a ridiculous question, but does this override the biomes in Minecraft already, or does it just add to them?
It looks amazing by the way...really look forward to trying it out!
It adds to them. The vanilla biomes will still generate.
It would be real cool if you could add a biome like Rohan from the lord of the rings movies. Like this one http://imgur.com/piT8S Rolling fields with rocks sticking out here and there.
since this mod's biomes are pretty dang superior it'd be a real shame not to have the option for forge compatibility, especially seeing as it was working in the previous version
Wow, nice, I'm so glad you reincarnated extrabiomesRPG, I missed that mod, I almost liked it better than the mod it was an addon for (though I still like extrabiomes) , I really like how you add "new" biomes, not just old biomes with different shapes etc (new biomes as in unique and not able to find anything similar in vanilla)
You've done a great job man
Well I gotta say this is a pretty amazing mod, just got linked from RPS so prepare for an onslaught.
love some of the more hilly biomes (crag and mountain are particular favorites) so can't wait to try it.
That said I did have a few ideas for some cool biomes I'd love to see.
Redwood forest:
Generates on hilly/ mountainous type terrain. Uses leaf structure similar to that of spruce (evergreen type tree) where the trunks are between 4 blocks in diameter and 30 blocks tall (very small tree) to 15 blocks in diameter and 150 tall (large scale) with average being 10 and 100 respectively. Due to their size the trees should have actual wood blocks along the branch path (branches 1-2 blocks wide) Perhaps also liberal placement of dead trees with small saplings (i.e. normal sized trees for the vanilla minecraft) growing out of it.
Continental divide:
An offshoot of the mountain type where there is one single long ridge at high elevation. this should be interspersed with several smaller 'peaks' off the main ridge. The slope off either side should be rocky, but non vertical, with a height in the 100+ range.
I'm vanilla player and not big fan of any mod but this one grabbed me and made me install it!
Currently started on cherry blossom forest. Really bright and nice during the day. When at night, torches lighting up
cherry trees makes this biome so looking nice.
Question:
Is large biome working on this mod right now? If it does so it would be even more amasing.
Biome Suggestion:
Add another swamp/flood plain type biome which has mostly covered by depth 1 or 2 water and view is covered by
tall vegetation of 2~3 block high above water. Those vegetation is planted in water of depth 1 mostly.
Sahara:
Just sands. No vegetation, no decoration. Nothing. Just sands, large space and sun light bombarding players eye.
Many hills of different height. Mostly flat.
OH... MY.... GOSH....
This should be INSTANTLY added to Minecraft. You should join Mojang and school them on biomes.
Well, since i'm a fan of Fallout, obviously my favorite biomes of yours would be the Mesa, Wasteland, and Deadlands.
Would it be possible for you to make world options? Mojang officially implemented them (i.e. superflat, large biomes). Could you make some options for single-biomed worlds? Where the entire world would be one or two biomes (pushing for Wasteland and Mesa)???
That would make for some lovely adventure maps.
So.. would that be possible?
**EDIT**
Basically, large biomes or single-biomed worlds?
Dude, I read the FAQ. I asked WHY he didn't want it in packs, as it would be great to have it in one.
Modpacks typically don't give the creators of the mods in the pack itself the credit and recognition they deserve. I've seen so many people using Tekkit think that the crew there actually made the mods, and it's quite sad when the real developers go uncredited like that.
Not to mention, I don't want people PMing me that the mod doesn't work in some kid's modpack with 50 other mods, or having mod pack creators asking me to make it work for them. The whole idea of modpacks is pretty stupid anyways...Is it really that hard to download a few mods and install them?
FPS in Cherry Blossom Grove
This biome is very laggy. My machine is penomeII 1090T @ 3.2Ghz, radeon 6870 1G, 8G ram, 64 bit win7, minecarft on SSD drive.
I need to turn down graphic to fast and reder distance to short to make playable inside the cherry blossom grove.
FPS drops under 20. Most of time 10~20 when I move around in side the forest.
Also found that I frequently found seeds, apple, sapling and few other items spawning on ground. That without me
cutting down tree or taking out grass. Steve just picks them up while moving inside the forest.
In most of other biomes, I play on fancy graphic and normal render distance and my FPS is around 50~60.

Yeah, it's pretty laggy for me too, whereas none of the other biomes are. I'll see what I can do about toning down the amount of trees in the biome.

Are you currently working to fix this for the multiplayer servers? It would be amazing to re-create mordor with my buddies
I remember these, these where all the included in the "Add-on" to the original extrabiomes. I thought many of them where infact better then the biomes offered in the normal version and i was devastated to see them lost when whatever happened with teh add on happened.
The one biome that you don't seem to have is the lush desert which was my favorite.

Very awesome! Although, you forgot the Quagmire. Definitely adding this to the opening post though.
No, no, and no. I hate modpacks, espeially Technic/Tekkit, and I would never want my mod in a modpack.
