Any chance for a basic 1.4.6 compatability fix to hold us over until a more substantial release is ready? This is the only mod my boyfriend and I have left to update before we go to 1.4.6. Some of our other mods have bugs that are only fixed in their 1.4.6 versions, and we'd love to upgrade ASAP. Doesn't need fancy new additions or bug fixes. Just 1.4.6 compatability would be fantastic.
My coffee is running out. Anyone else want this one?

Doesn't work. As soon as it rolls to the next page you'll see them again, asking the same question "just in case nobody saw it." Pretty soon that's all you'll see - endless "when will it be released for x.x.x" requests.

My coffee never runs out, because it doesn't physically exist. People in this thread just need to calm down a bit. If someone asks something that has been asked a thousand times already, simply ignore them or tell them politely to read the last few pages of the thread. I'm sure everyone's stressed out enough now, I would suggest we discuss the mod itself instead of ETAs or people asking for ETAs.

Well, you made me smile. I completely agree with you, and also believe we should all love and respect each other, wars should end and everyone should have adequate food, shelter and acceptance by the community. Unfortunately, people aren't wired like that and wishing for a utopian society and stating as much to everyone else doesn't really get anywhere. That statement is quintessentially the "can't we all just get along?!" argument. Full of good intentions, ideals and sentiment, but ineffectual. I commend the effort though.
On a side note, coffee is the sweet nectar of life and you sir, are not living.

This is true. The last week or so there has been barely anything about the mod it's self and many pages full of repetitive "Is it updated yet" and "No".

Kind of jumping the shark with the treastie. Chill out, man. Being rude isn't actually causing anyone to stop asking the same question.
Still excited to try this mod out when it does launch on 1.4.6. Cheers!
Wow, I've been looking at this mod since closed beta and now it's finaly open!
The magic leveling system is very well done, but I have noticed a lack of expanded magic leveling.
As when you level up, you only gain access to a larger mana pool.
I feel that magic leveling could be a much more indepth system, on which you can expand depending on a defined specialistation.
or perhaps just a more complex and more meaningful way of gaining magic levels other then grinding mobs, then pressing a button,
but these are just my thoughts as I don't think everyone would like to make the process of gaining magic levels more complex.
Perhaps a more specialised spell researching tree is more a more acceptable refinement.
Either way this mod is an excellent addtion to the other magic mods out there, and is worthy of becoming one of the greatest mods out there. So keep up the good work please!

What's a "treastie"? Lost me on that one.
In case it was interpreted the wrong way, the post was meant as ironical, not rude or hot-headed, which I gather was assumed from the "chill out" comment. Regardless, I still find statements encouraging the "when will it be released" mentalities that inevitably storm these types of forums (akin to the "are we there yet" coterie) to play nice and not act upon their inclinations amusing. I'd say amusement is the general reaction to such things.

And you are correct. My comment was a last, weak, desperate attempt at trying to get everyone to calm down and act civilized, but I suppose humans don't work that way. What other way is there to stop these impatient people who are making me lose faith in humanity? How do you convince them that a bow that aimed before it shot and hit the bull's eye is better than a bow that was shot fast but didn't hit the target? I'm thinking it might be better to lock this thread, for everyone's sake.
Also, regarding my coffee, you seem to have misunderstood my statement that stated my coffee doesn't physically exist. My coffee exists, and I drink it, but it isn't coffee made out of beans. My coffee is the essence of my existence that my mind poured into a cup and made into a perfectly dark and bitter cup of "coffee".
Now, to get the discussion back on topic, I have a suggestion for this mod: Since we have conduits to move raw essence around, can't we have some kind of "item conduits" that move items from place to place? It could run off essence.

Essentially, nothing. People are people, and changing them certainly is beyond lurkers of a minecraft mod forum. We answer them as they come (I believe answering is better than ignoring, so they don't reinforce the "update" crowd with repeat posts), and answering in a way I find amusing is how I check myself so I'm not overly rude. Hence the "out of coffee, someone else take this one" approach. Speaking of which, I'm working late so I have a brand new pot to accompany me.
I support including on-topic conversation with our digressing posts, so I'll follow suit:
I personally would like to see a longer duration for the reduced and normal casting of night vision. Sure, the potion takes gold nuggets and carrots, but both are renewable resources, and I generally carry a nether pouch with 8 or so night vision potions when I dungeon crawl.
Obviously this approach is imbalanced as in vanilla this isn't feasible due to lack of extra inventory space and non-stackable potions, but who honestly implements the use of potions in their gameplay that doesn't include some inventory mod to carry them around? I carry a chestful of potions to add extra options during gameplay.
1 second for a normal casting of night vision seems a bit low. Arguably arcane essences are very cheap if you use a fabricator, but I still think the lesser versions of the spell should have some use, and 1 second doesn't seem useful.

Yeah, I agree. Lowering the mana cost or strengthening the spell would be a good idea.
Mith, is there any purpose for the purple chalk yet? All it creates right now is a weird floating tile. Did you intend any purpose which will be added yet? And, if so, is it included in the closed beta?
Is the tile purple with circular patters forming a rough square? It shouldn't be floating, but it's a null magic rune. It's supposed to prevent casting inside the rune and remove any buffs/debuffs from the character. Try casting a spell while inside it. Ranged spells appear to work sometimes, but any self-buff should fizzle. Try slowfall or fly or something similar, and you should see a particle effect around your character to indicate the "fizzle."
Have a question, did a quickish lookthrough of the thread and wiki but didn't really see an answer, does the Magic Fabricator conjure recipes from other mods aswell or would one have to assign a mana cost to said items before one would be able to conjure them from thin air ?
There isn't a way to manually edit the value of blockid's in the config yet. Currently you can craft those items as long as no diamonds or emeralds are included in the recipe, but it will assign an essence value of 1. If you opt for game balance just don't use the fabricator for other mods' blocks for now.

What do you mean by your coffee running out? And whats an ETA?
I've just come across this mod, actually because I have played the original Ars Magica RPG (great game), and what a fantastic mod it is! I love that it makes exploration so much more worthwile, please don't change that (as per the recent poll).
Anyway. I have found a few issues. I apologise in advance if they have been dealt with in previous posts, I couldn't face reading all 80 odd pages.
1) With the swiftswim spell, if you are swimming on the surface of the water, the POV jerks forwards and backwards
2) I like that the essence refiner stores stuff rather than throwing it out (can the inscription table do the same?), but if you leave Arcane Ash in the centre and reload the game, then it will end up moved to the top.
3) I cannot get the essence recipe for Plant Essence to work, and I'm wondering if I have the wrong type of leaves. It's not entirely clear from the wiki what type I should be using.
I notice that the spell list page on the wiki is locked. I know that there are many more spells than are listed there. Has it been locked so that people have to try out the new spells themselves, or to stop vandalism?
Cheers for making a great mod
I have heard points 1 and 2 and they will be fixed with the next update. Point 3 I will look into - it must be something to do with metadata. My intention was that any type of leaves should work.
The spell list is locked as it was being changed/updated incorrectly. There are a couple pages that are locked, but for the most part the wiki is open. You can, however, create a page for a spell and I will add it to the spell list for you.

"Coffee running out" is him being metaphorical. ETA stands for Estimated Time (of) Arrival.
It is working correctly with vanilla leaves. I'm sorry, it was my error--I flipped the cactus and lily pads location on the wiki by mistake.
peace
