There is no current release date planned yet, but development is progressing well. I've been releasing progress videos on youtube of its development here and there.
theres so many pages for this mod , which means alot of people look up to this mod to make minecraft a bit more magical, i want to know though, how much people are working on this mod to make it a little bit more complex than ars magica 1, if there actually gonna split them.
I ran into an unusual problem with the latest 1.5.2 release. I built an essence nexus in my base, and it worked fine. Then I decided I didn't like the placement and moved it. Now no matter what I do i cannot make a nexus. I rebuilt the essence nexus structure but nothing happens when i use the blue chalk. I replaced the blocks with ones for a light nexus, but nothing happens when i use white chalk. I've rebuilt it several times, double-checking that it is the right shape, even deleted and re-installed ars magica, but still the problem persists. Anyone else seen this before?

Don't recognize my avatar? You've missed out on one of the best games ever! http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ If you do recognize it, welcome to the next stage of life. Put on your best sweater vest and I'll meet you in the shuffleboard room
So I just found a cool "feature". I was testing this mod in creative in one of the versions for 1.5.2, trying to use the gate ways. I found that if you make the whole gate way structure one block smaller so that it is a 3x4 structure instead of a 3x5 it acts like an actual gateway in that it takes in essence and keystones but you cannot teleport through it. Although you can teleport to it from a working gateway. I thought this would be good for map builders who want to trap some unwanted people into dungeons and such.
Ok, so whats going on here? Mithion is just going to stop working on Ars Magica and is making a number 2?
I guess I can wait until he finishes the second one, but I would have liked to have tried out the first one because I don't know how to downgrade my Forge. There is only an installer version on the latest version. If someone could tell me a way to get a 1.5.2 version of forge that would be very helpful.
Just download Technic Launcher (http://technicpack.net), choose vanilla Minecraft, choose option and choose the version of Minecraft you would like.
In %Appdata%.technic you will find the minecraft folder. Just copy the minecraft.jar-file from there and put forge in it. Or if you're fine with Technic launcher you can use that.

I have a question about the ID's in Ars Magica.
When I use NEI to get the ID-list Ars Magica lists a lot of ID's but a bunch of them is named "null".
How come? Is it supposed to look like this?
I was starting the game and it crashed. I tried on 1.5.2 jar and it still crashed. I checked the log and it dosn't appear to be ID conflict.
---- Minecraft Crash Report ----

Okay, Thank you. Funny thing is, Ive had much more mods than this. I'll try to free up some memory by chaging it and deleting a few mods.
I play Galacticraft too, and the Moon and planets end up littered with flowers and towers.
While some people might say it makes them prettier, i beg to disagree.
Galacticraft has a config option to block external worldgen, but Ars Magica seems to override it. I'm dreadfully sorry to bother, but is there an ETA on that dimension blacklisting config for worldgen?
well if you enable retro worldgen, there's a chance that could happen. Did you back up the world first, like the config file warning tells you to?
Retro worldgen must be manually disabled once enabled - it doesn't turn off automatically.
@Dreadent_the_Doom:
I'm going to proceed under the assumption that you are running a 32-bit machine. If I am incorrect, let me know. 32-bit machines are limited to a 4GB process space. Of that 4GB, the OS takes a chunk and the JVM takes the chunk that you allocated using -Xmx (or whatever the default is that MC takes, if you aren't specifying). In what is left, the JVM threads are allocated. So, the more RAM you need/allocate to the actual game itself, the fewer threads you can create. Here is what that looks like (more or less):
So, you have to either reduce the memory allocated with -Xmx or (carefully) reduce the stack size using -Xss.
Of course, the real fix is to move to a 64-bit machine and remove the limit.
Sorry, but you didn't get me. The story happened a few weeks ago when I first found a structure generated in a hole formed in a nuclear explosion( Nuclear Explosive from More Explosives Mod). The tower was in one piece, so it couldn't be there before the explosion. I posted it here, and you told me to disable retro worldgen. I couldn't! I had NEVER enabled it. Later, I decided to try totally disabling world generation but it doesn't work at all. The 'EnableWorldGen' option seems to be always true, just like the 'RetroactiveWorldGen' option. Not only the structure keeps generating, 'It will also change the recipe for spell research to require an enchanted book instead of a lost journal fragment' doesn't happen to me as well.
Sorry again for my broken English. I understand that you are busy writing the new AM2. I just want to check if this is a bug and if it only happens to me.

Well it sure sounds like a bug.
I do know that the feature was bugged a couple versions ago, but I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that you were running the latest version. Can you confirm the version of AM you are using?
Hello friend.
That looks like something I got with BetterDungeons Mod.

"Likely", that sounded comforting ;P
Kidding aside, they did make me worried when I tried to go through all ID's and "null" showed up and it's good to hear they're supposed to be there. Getting my head around all these conflicts that showed up after some small updates that had nothing to do with Ars Magica was enough to make my head spin.
You have to start spoiler with / in the end-tag
make it seem like you're running out of memory. If it's the regular memory or the PermGen I can't really say thought since I'm no expert (it does usually mention PermGen in the log if that's the case thought).[/background]
[background=rgb(232, 239, 244)]Mods demand quite a bit more memory than vanilla minecraft so if you run to many mods you need more than the 1024 you've put as max.[/background]
I turned off retro worldgen, even EnableWorldGen, then I found a huge maze took the place of my house.
Retro worldgen must be manually disabled once enabled - it doesn't turn off automatically.
@Dreadent_the_Doom:
