Is Ars magica known to cause trouble upon trying to get into the end? I've been sitting here for ages, and its telling me that its still downloading terrain.
Is Ars magica known to cause trouble upon trying to get into the end? I've been sitting here for ages, and its telling me that its still downloading terrain.
Prior versions were known to have that issue - but I thought I had fixed it. Are you running 5.52.013?

I have always been using the latest version, which means I would have clocked some play-time before upgrading to 0.13. However, I hadn't entered the End until now.
It wouldn't generate a crash report, merely going from "Downloading Terrain" to "Shutting Server Down"
Since I use MultiMc, I used its feature to generate a Crash Report, but my slow internet connection won't let me copy-paste-post it here. It was incredibly long though, consisting mostly of this repeated endlessly-

mods.natura.worldgen.CloudGen - check for block ID conflicts.

Imbue should be fine...could always try it in a creative world.
As for worldgen, the new system has a greater focus on grid size - any time the grid size changes, it has a chance to do a pseudo-retro worldgen phase if it can't find a grid for the referenced coordinates. Since worldgen is randomized and not based on world seed, you could restore from a backup and try again. Chances are the structure won't be there.
is there any known issues with ArsMagica and BetterWorldGen? any time I do a sky survival or sky dimension I do get Ars gen, but its all at what would be bedrock layer and floating in the air... none of it is actually on the islands? Heads up I am also using BiomesOPlenty so.... not sure if that throws a wrench in the mix or not
Shift+RMB brings up text saying, "Barrier Aura Toggled" yet no aura appears.
Mine has 100% energy and yet I can blink all around it. It has a greater focus in the bottom slot and nothing in the top slot.
Also I really miss the giant towers in the desert and the treehouses in swamps. Even if they didn't have chests, my server would have enjoyed their existence.
Is there a way to disable some spells? Because accelerate is really op if you combine it with magical crops :/
Do like I do and just don't use them. If you're on a server, just make them taboo. Like Flight. Flying is only allowed in areas you've been to before, when my friends and I are playing.

I figured it out to be a item ID conflict between Buildcraft and Ars Magica; But when I searched the configs from both mods, the crash-reports, the forge log for CONFLICT IDS, and even a Block/Item ID Dump from NEI, I couldn't find any conflicts from these 2 mods.

We're using Magical Crops aswell and since it takes your time to get the diamond seeds, people are using growth and accelerate to get them faster.
Make sure that all of your players know that using Growth on Magical Crops is Absolutely Taboo and then laugh as the silly buggers waste their mana. Mark has the magical crops in his Magical Crops mod set to ignore bone meal and, by extension, the Growth spell. I just tested it and both diamond, emerald and cow soul crops ignore Growth while the blackberries planted in their midst sprung up like fungi after the rain.
Accelerate can be used to quick-grow plants but the mana cost is pretty steep so they're pretty much paying for it.
I'd be more concerned about them using the fabricators to crank out seeds but you can prevent that by editting the AM config and setting the costs of the seeds you don't want fabricated to 0. Same for the essences.

Shift+RMB brings up text saying, "Barrier Aura Toggled" yet no aura appears.
Mine has 100% energy and yet I can blink all around it. It has a greater focus in the bottom slot and nothing in the top slot.
Also I really miss the giant towers in the desert and the treehouses in swamps. Even if they didn't have chests, my server would have enjoyed their existence.
The astral barrier aura is for setup purposes only, and only shows clientside (it isn't toggled on for other players; they need to do it themselves).
The aura won't show unless the barrier has a redstone signal, and is therefore powered on and active.

The red bar represents Burnout, a sort of magical fatigue that accumulates as you cast spells. The higher your burnout, the more mana spells cost. This was added as a replacement to spell cooldowns, as cooldowns broke certain features due to the way MC synchronizes NBT tags (such as the re-equipping spell book issue).
The sunburst icon is just an icon to represent Burnout and make the UI symmetrical; it has no special significance.

Enjoying the mod, but one thing about it is particularly bothersome... The frequency which mages and other mobs start spawning even at low magic levels. Basically, in a single player environment you can't walk 30 blocks at night or even in caves without getting attacked by a half-dozen mobs. Now you might be saying "You can't walk 30 blocks without stumbling across a creeper or zombie..." But the difference is that creepers or zombies don't zoom around as quickly, tossing spells at you in packs of 3-5... At magic level 5-10. I've already managed to get well enough equipped and with a handful of my own spells so it isn't even a difficulty aspect at this point, more than it is the fact that I'm constantly running into all these mages everywhere, without much rhyme or reason. The nether is almost unplayable without flight or truesight due to the number of darklings around who have a tendency to just push you off ledges into lava while you're just trying to navigate the terrain. This is all probably less of an issue on multiplayer servers since the mob count is spread between players, but on a single player instance it ends up being too many spawns in such a small area... Particularly if there aren't many caves near the surface.
The best solution I can make would be to change the spawning mechanic of the mobs so that they are related to certain places. For instance having mana elementals or hecates appear around some of the ruined towers and other sites in the darkness, or darklings around ruins in the nether. For mages, you can have friendly ones appear mostly around NPC villages, rarely, or in non-ruined towers very rarely. Hostile mages would appear mostly around non-ruined towers, and most other structures, and very rarely near NPC villages. By "rare" I mean with about the frequency of endermen, and "very rarely" about the frequency of spider jockeys. For towers, this could probably be most easily achieved by tapping into the control blocks that prevent player-destruction and having them work similarly to normal spawners, except with the whole area of the structure as valid spawning locations, on a longer delay between spawn pulses.
The benefit of making them less common is two fold... First off, since you aren't constantly being attacked by mages every time you walk out the door, those times that you do encounter magical enemies, it feels more special and less grindy. Making them tied to locations means that you can adjust the difficulty of encounters not only by magic level, but also an implied difficulty with each tower type. Second, since they aren't as common and aren't immediately farmable, you can add a proper loot table to them without totally throwing off balance... such as occasional drops of dusts, regents with rare or very rare drops of books or scrolls.
All in all, it would just make the current spawns feel less "random" while also making towers feel less "meh".

So I had an interesting thought for a spell. Kinda focused on the parkour players, players who prefer jumping from treetop to treetop and such.
I'd assume it would be a lightning spell or an air spell or a combination of the two.
A magical block of solid light that decays after a period of time, based on the casting mode used.
It would help worlds stay alittle prettier too. Less random dirt pillars and such where tall trees used to be.
Also, still having the same texture issues I've been having. Is there anywhere I can download the texture pack for just Ars? I would really love to see the nexi and other hi res blocks with textures applied. instead of just stark white objects.

Imbue should be fine...could always try it in a creative world.
As for worldgen, the new system has a greater focus on grid size - any time the grid size changes, it has a chance to do a pseudo-retro worldgen phase if it can't find a grid for the referenced coordinates. Since worldgen is randomized and not based on world seed, you could restore from a backup and try again. Chances are the structure won't be there.
Shift+RMB brings up text saying, "Barrier Aura Toggled" yet no aura appears.
Mine has 100% energy and yet I can blink all around it. It has a greater focus in the bottom slot and nothing in the top slot.
Also I really miss the giant towers in the desert and the treehouses in swamps. Even if they didn't have chests, my server would have enjoyed their existence.
Do like I do and just don't use them. If you're on a server, just make them taboo. Like Flight. Flying is only allowed in areas you've been to before, when my friends and I are playing.

I figured it out to be a item ID conflict between Buildcraft and Ars Magica; But when I searched the configs from both mods, the crash-reports, the forge log for CONFLICT IDS, and even a Block/Item ID Dump from NEI, I couldn't find any conflicts from these 2 mods.

Though I do see the point of having the ability to blacklist certain spells.
Make sure that all of your players know that using Growth on Magical Crops is Absolutely Taboo and then laugh as the silly buggers waste their mana. Mark has the magical crops in his Magical Crops mod set to ignore bone meal and, by extension, the Growth spell. I just tested it and both diamond, emerald and cow soul crops ignore Growth while the blackberries planted in their midst sprung up like fungi after the rain.
Accelerate can be used to quick-grow plants but the mana cost is pretty steep so they're pretty much paying for it.
I'd be more concerned about them using the fabricators to crank out seeds but you can prevent that by editting the AM config and setting the costs of the seeds you don't want fabricated to 0. Same for the essences.
I am a mod translator from abroad. ArsMagica mod is by far the coolest Magic MOD I've seen and really want it on my server.But,the translation work after each update is too trouble to me. Why not add a "lang" file? IF you can consider adding a "lang" file in the next version,it will be a pleasantly surprised for me.

The astral barrier aura is for setup purposes only, and only shows clientside (it isn't toggled on for other players; they need to do it themselves).
The aura won't show unless the barrier has a redstone signal, and is therefore powered on and active.
The red bar represents Burnout, a sort of magical fatigue that accumulates as you cast spells. The higher your burnout, the more mana spells cost. This was added as a replacement to spell cooldowns, as cooldowns broke certain features due to the way MC synchronizes NBT tags (such as the re-equipping spell book issue).
The sunburst icon is just an icon to represent Burnout and make the UI symmetrical; it has no special significance.
Multilingual support will not be in Ars Magica, but it will be in Ars Magica 2.

The best solution I can make would be to change the spawning mechanic of the mobs so that they are related to certain places. For instance having mana elementals or hecates appear around some of the ruined towers and other sites in the darkness, or darklings around ruins in the nether. For mages, you can have friendly ones appear mostly around NPC villages, rarely, or in non-ruined towers very rarely. Hostile mages would appear mostly around non-ruined towers, and most other structures, and very rarely near NPC villages. By "rare" I mean with about the frequency of endermen, and "very rarely" about the frequency of spider jockeys. For towers, this could probably be most easily achieved by tapping into the control blocks that prevent player-destruction and having them work similarly to normal spawners, except with the whole area of the structure as valid spawning locations, on a longer delay between spawn pulses.
The benefit of making them less common is two fold... First off, since you aren't constantly being attacked by mages every time you walk out the door, those times that you do encounter magical enemies, it feels more special and less grindy. Making them tied to locations means that you can adjust the difficulty of encounters not only by magic level, but also an implied difficulty with each tower type. Second, since they aren't as common and aren't immediately farmable, you can add a proper loot table to them without totally throwing off balance... such as occasional drops of dusts, regents with rare or very rare drops of books or scrolls.
All in all, it would just make the current spawns feel less "random" while also making towers feel less "meh".

While it doesn't list Ars Magica in the confirmed list that it's compatible with, I can confirm that it does. I use it my self.
I'd assume it would be a lightning spell or an air spell or a combination of the two.
A magical block of solid light that decays after a period of time, based on the casting mode used.
It would help worlds stay alittle prettier too. Less random dirt pillars and such where tall trees used to be.
Also, still having the same texture issues I've been having. Is there anywhere I can download the texture pack for just Ars? I would really love to see the nexi and other hi res blocks with textures applied. instead of just stark white objects.
