The new update does fix the casting from the spellbook problem, but now, for me, the little bar at the top with the quickspells doesn't show any background
Has the treehouse been taking out of the structure generation? I'd looked in creative and survival and haven't come across any. Im using v5.52.010. I've might of started the world with 5.52.009. Also how many different structures are there in the latest release?
Charge of the battery and my gateway. I'm pretty sure that is correctly built. Also another thing ive noticed is that waypoints do not life fire being lit near them. And that waypoints have a very hard time locating a new powersource once one has been depleted. I have to destroy the keystone and replace it for it to attune itself to a new battery
When i destroy a block in like a tower it turns into a blue magical block what do i have to do to not get that anymore?
It's a mage tower, check the wiki...

EDIT: It seems that closing and reopening minecraft gets them to work. I am teleporting a distance of around 2500 blocks I am unsure of the equation for teleporting verses cost though Might be insufficient essence
Thanks for the quick fix! I use this mod on my server and couldn't figure out what causing all the clients to crash after I updated a few mods we use. Ended up destroying most of our world just removing mods and readding since forgelog didn't show much
Alrighty then, very aggravating bug, and by very i mean i spent a good half hour trying to figure it out. So the Illusion Blocks, they respond to True Sight, many people have been experiencing problems getting through them and i think i found the problem. So i was (like all inventory conscious mages) using a spell book to cast True Sight, but i could not get through the blocks. finnaly after a half hour of searching for bug reports on it and trying diffrent key combinations to get into the structure i took the spell out of the book and it worked like a charm (though the dispensers generated backwards i believe which i found hilarous) So i dont know if this is a known *bug* or not so i figured id post about it. If its not a bug, like if its not possible the way you are making the mod to fix it, then at the least is there some way you could put in the op as a known bug and the solution to it, or maybe not allow it to be cast in spell books?

Without minecraft id have to go outside....its bright out there...does anyone have the dimmer switch for the sun?
here comes a dumb question. How close does the mana battery have to be to begin discharging onto a block that needs essence? does it need redstone to discharge? i guess that is 2 dumb questions. and maybe a third, does the battery have to be at max charge before u can move it?

10 blocks. No, No. What are you charging with it?

I noticed this when trying to play with waypoints and cobblestone walls. +1 to the bug report where someone said that their spell book GUI element wasn't showing up with the background. It'll stay up for a little while, then will randomly completely disappear and leave only the spell books. The selector box disappears with it, too, so I can't tell which spell is selected without remembering what school each spell is or casting it to see which one it is.
Hey guys, I am running into a few bugs with the gateways. Primarily, they seem to be a bit finicky as to when they like to activate. Upon loading a world with a gateway, activating it will work as expected the first time. On subsequent attempts neither of the two test gateways will activate.
Each has a dedicated tier 3 light nexus. Additionally, the portal will sometimes spawn sideways in the gateway though function remains the same.

Well, I seem to have inadvertently discovered the ultimate defensive enchantment.
First, a bit of background.
I have a friend who just recently started playing minecraft, and as such is somewhat, shall we say, survival-challenged. He is constantly dying in new and interesting ways (such as, recently, blinking into a lava pool), to the point where we are getting reluctant to give him much in the way of equipment.
So, I figured, let's give him some training wheels!
I made some Practitioner's armor, and enchanted it with Imbue Armor II, which I then imbued with Recall.
"Brilliant!" I thought. "Any time he takes any damage at all, he'll be instantly teleported to the safety of his mark! Not only will he learn to avoid taking damage due to how annoying it will be, but we can give him equipment without fear of losing it!"
So, I decided to take it for a test drive. I put on the armor, ran outside, and got hit by a zombie. The zombie disappeared.
"Huh." I thought. "You don't think..."
I ran back inside the house to where I had set my mark spell, and sure enough, the zombie was there.
After dispatching the zombie, the implications of this development hit me. I made a pool of lava, set my mark above it, and ran out to find another zombie. I ran into a skeleton instead. It shot me, disappeared, and I heard the distinctive sound of a skeleton burning up in lava.
I could be wrong, but I think that I may now be almost totally invincible, as long as I stay out of the Nether or End...
I'm guessing the Recall spell has been misclassified as an Offensive spell, so the Imbue Armor enchantment is hitting enemies with it rather than self-casting, making it ridiculously OP.
There was a bug in .010 that prevented certain spells from being cast in spell books - it should have been fixed in .011. Make sure you are on that version.
What other GUI-altering mods are you using? What's your resolution? FOV settings? Are you using advanced OpenGL?
Hey guys, I am running into a few bugs with the gateways. Primarily, they seem to be a bit finicky as to when they like to activate. Upon loading a world with a gateway, activating it will work as expected the first time. On subsequent attempts neither of the two test gateways will activate.
Each has a dedicated tier 3 light nexus. Additionally, the portal will sometimes spawn sideways in the gateway though function remains the
same.
I'll see if I can replicate this. How far apart are they? Do they have keystones?
can I get an answer because I'm confused on the subject as said before, what can you do, besides winning the story competition, to get the beta particles while using this mod, just because I am considering, maybe, donating to this mod and want to know if this is what you get for donating, or is that something else?
No, donating does not get you beta particles - seems too much like a microtransaction to me. While I appreciate every donation, I would prefer not to have incentives to donate, other than you simply appreciate my work.
There will be further opportunities to earn beta particles as AM2 progresses.
Ah... Well, it seems I figured out what causes that crash I posted about a while back. It's actually what happens when you have a piece of armor with both Imbued Armor and Repair from Thaumcraft 3 on it. I don't suppose there's any way in the API for TC3 to make it so Imbued Armor and Repair can't exist on the same item, like how different types of Protection can't?
I'll confirm this, and see if there's a way to ensure that they can't go on the same item.
The only GUI altering mod that I have would just be Rei's Minimap. The Spellbook Quickbar up in the left corner used to show correctly in .10, but as soon as I added .11, all it shows is the scrolls. No background, no way to know which spell is currently selected. I posted a screenshot on the last page to show what it looks like. It's like it's not getting the spellbook_ui.png Thanks again.
Posted Yesterday, 01:15 PM
I also seem to be having problems casting spells from the Spell Book. Offensive spells (i.e. Firebolt) seem to work fine, but Utility spells (i.e. Dig or Growth) just shows me waving my arm around. I don't have any buff or channeled spells to test out yet.
I have these mods:
CodeChickenCore 0.8.6.12
NotEnought Items 1.5.2.21
ReiMinimap 3.3_06
ArsMagica 5.52.010

I have posted an update that should fix the crashes with the power system, spell books/staves not being able to cast certain spells, and the GUI overlaps under certain circumstances.
Thank you all for your patience and detailed bug reports - it really helped me find the issues quickly, once I finally had the time to work on it.
My apologies the fix took so long.
Took you alittle over an hour to fix it? That not long at all!

I'm afraid I also got this error. I also have NEI, but I don't thing that should affect the Spellbook UI...
EDIT: I also noticed that I now have to charge up the firebolt spell now. It works, I just have to hold the button like with a bow. Before I didn't have to, but having used a occulus to compared to Talon of the Wind, I noticed it was cheaper and did more damage. It may be a bug, but it's kinda balanced and prevents misfires, so I guess you could call this a "feature"...
So far I have explored a large portion of ocean and haven't found any underwater ice mazes. I assume these have been removed. Is there anything to find in the ocean?
I too am having issues with the gui not displaying correctly. There's no box around both the spells or the spell selected anymore as of the .11 update. I'm using Rei's Mini Map and Damage Indicators mod and tried it with both disabled with no change. Also, I was wondering if it would be possible to have the name of the spell selected show up under the spell gui, as it's a little confusing using custom spells without being able to see what it is?
Secondly, I've been mulling over some new spell ideas
1) magma vent - creates an opening in the earth filled with lava 2*2 for min casting, 3*3 for normal, 5*5 for aug
2) earth quake - creates a tear in the earth starting from where the caster is, 2 deep for min casting, 7 long in total 1 block wide and long at the start and end, 2 block wide second and second from end, 3 block wide in middle, normal would be 3 deep, 9 long, aug would be 15 long, 5 deep (hope that makes sense, I can make a screen capture if it needs clarification)
3) Sun burst / Moon ray - creates a pillar of light that comes down from the sky where ever the mouse if pointing, sun would burn enemies, moon could enhance magical powers of those in the ray, or something like that
4) Meteor - rock from space blasts down on your foes! 3*3 for min, 5*5 for normal, 9*9 for augmented - destroys anything in its path weaker than iron, creates a shock wave which blasts and stuns, creates a big damned hole - can have different effects added in spell creation like cold, magma, etc
5) Command - makes a mob into your ally
6) Transform - turn a creature into another one ie. sheep plus 2 others, as you see fit
7) Possess - allows you to inhabit a targeted creature and roam around in their form
8) Biggie Smalls - allows you to change size - 1 block high on min, normal size on normal, 3 tall on aug - smallifying makes you cause less damage, but you don't take fall damage and are slightly faster, biggified gives you more strength and knockback, you're a bit slower, and you break blocks faster (this in spell creation could be fun. make a projectile spell that turns other mobs into giant/mini
9) Become Ethereal - Allows you to walk through walls, take no damage from mobs, but you can't physically damage them, maybe allows you use magic still?
10) Tornado - giant collum of wind which sucks up blocks and mobs as long as you hold down mouse key, goes where your mouse is
11) Ent - Turns a tree into a creature which attacks your foes - possibly similar to the Dendroid Elder from myths and mobs mod?
12) More summons - Angel - divine being of light which can fly and attacks foes with a mix of magic and a sword, Demon - being of darkness and fire (I'm thinking along the lines of the demons in Baldurs Gate 2) which attacks your foes with tooth, claws and magic, Dragon - summons a dragon which has a large area of fire attack, possibly able to be ridden, bite, tail lash and claw attack
13) Silence - prevents other mages from using magic
14) Slow/Stop time - pretty self explanatory.
And how about I leave it at that for now? Feel free to change things as needed if you're interested in using any of these. And let me know if you'd like any clarification on any of the ideas.
And one last note, I was thinking since you want a better multi player experience with things like spell creation you could adjust "Channel Essence" so that if it's used around other mages it could help them split mana costs, or makes spells more powerful the more people channelling while a spell is cast. And if say someone has a particular affinity channelling it would count as an essence for augmented spells - ie. Master mage has 3 apprentices and wants to cast a super fire ball, as they're casting the spell the 3 apprenti all use channel essence decreasing the mana cost for the spell and adding to the damage done and size of explosion the fireball makes, in addition to this one of the apprenti has an affinity to fire, which makes it so the master doesn't need to use a fire essence to cast this.
Anyways, love the mod, hope some of that is usable. Keep up the great work.

There was a bug in .010 that prevented certain spells from being cast in spell books - it should have been fixed in .011. Make sure you are on that version.
What other GUI-altering mods are you using? What's your resolution? FOV settings? Are you using advanced OpenGL?
I'll see if I can replicate this. How far apart are they? Do they have keystones?
No, donating does not get you beta particles - seems too much like a microtransaction to me. While I appreciate every donation, I would prefer not to have incentives to donate, other than you simply appreciate my work.
There will be further opportunities to earn beta particles as AM2 progresses.
I'll confirm this, and see if there's a way to ensure that they can't go on the same item.
