RoosterInASuit - I've already added new settings in the non-public builds to bypass the ugliness. My end goal is to have the grass and snow coexist physically (as opposed to Optifunny's way of pretending the snow's there when it's really not).
PlaydoTV - I'm currently working with some of my fellow modders (ones that know web programming) to work out a new download setup. I'm not sure how things will work just yet, though (mostly since I'm not a web programmer - too different from application programming for me ). (The new setup is to combat the huge issue of file mirrors.)
Seworian - my primary tester found that the crop stuff is busted, so I need to recode the section. :/
GAxel109 - Responses to the suggestions:
Umbrellas: maybe - would be later, either way
Flowers: this mod doesn't add any flowers - all the flowers that grow can be configured, though working with the settings for that is a headache (or several) all on it's own.
Trees: I already plan on improving the underlying mechanics to offer new client-based settings (though this doesn't add trees/leaves)
Christmas: I will not add holiday-themed content of any kind, since not everyone celebrates each "major" holiday and people in the opposite hemisphere that do celebrate them experience them in the opposite season (December in Australia, for example, is part of Summer. As this mod supports dedicated servers, I can't really add "seasonal" holiday content like that, since I can't guarantee everyone that joins each seasons server would be in the same N-S hemisphere.) If you really want Christmas content, try ChristmasCraft, or whatever it is - it updates right around Christmas time.
Dhs92 - if not, how about I include you anyways. (If you sent me a PM asking, then - yes - you are.)
Kyron_Kiranov - I took a look, and it wouldn't be that hard to change how tall the standard tree generates, via some simple code editing. I'll make it once I have a chance

Kyron_Kiranov - I'll either do it as a separate mod or as a configurable feature with the default setting of "no changes." I tend to just climb the trees and avoid the mobs below when I'm in above a forest biome (and it would be for the standard trees. Too many things to consider code-wise for doing all trees [+modded trees] without an AI [and I'm not holding out for an API] )
ZODIK105 - I would, but 1.8.10 isn't even out yet, and might not ever come out if they skip it or go to 1.9
For 1.8, I'll be starting the port after my next private beta is a success and I backport it to 1.7.2. It's hard to develop when real life keeps getting in the way, though.

Rosgrim - To turn off the plant spawns in general (stuff spawns in each of the four seasons), change the setting "SpringGrow" to false ( 0 ). I still need to rename the setting, but it stops all the spawns.
You can add flowers, grasses, saplings, and mushrooms to the mod's spawn settings, but working with that section of the worldly configuration is rather messy and confusing. You can kind of see how it works by looking at the 16 spawn list tags, but there's a lot of complicated details for advanced configuring. I'm here if you need any assistance.

The day / night temperature cycle you suggested might be semi easy to do, but the gradual change of the temp and seasons over time sounds like a nightmare to code. Although i love your idea of the regional/seasonal crop farming thing you got there.

Technology you don't comprehend is akin to witchcraft.
dannym23 - The Seasons Mod isn't quite "broken" when used with Optifine; it just isn't fully functioning for textures and rendering. Even then, the issues with Optifine are rather deep, and more spread out than just one file. In order to fix the incompatibility with Optifunny, I'd have to revert some of it's changes.
TheOJO - In The Seasons Mod, the seasons are incremental, and all parts of each season are equal - that's one of the limitations in the code that I want to abolish for the spiritual sequel. The config is already becoming quite cumbersome, and I need to code a better system before adding complexity... such as the advanced configuration details in the plant spawns... (oops... too late already)
iaanacho (and TheOJO) - I've already been working out kinks like that for Seasons 2 (the eventual successor of The Seasons Mod), at least conceptually. The gradual change in temperature based on a continuous seasonal system can utilize the same mechanics as the seasons themselves (I chose sine waves), boiling everything down to a combination of Perlin noise maps and basic trigonometry. To ease on the computations to a degree, the basic information maps can be cashed using SoftReferences (they will be saved until the memory's truly needed) and can cover a large swath of the world in a small and compact memory unit.
yayminecraft1234 - Sounds like a good idea to me. What do you think about the comment "Still has issues with Optifunny"?

well, at least i know why the mod isn't working for me, i have optifine! i wanna use the mod in conjunction with the conquest resource pack but i can't use the resource pack without optifine and i can't use optifine without it conflicting with the seasons mod - why must the best mods refuse to work together??
bluedeathwolf - Sorry about that, but there's not much that can be done. While it doesn't sound right, The Seasons Mod and Optifine have had conflicting implementation philosophies since Nandonalt's time, long before I even come on the scene. If I can ever manage to finish the overwhelming amount of modding stuff that's already on my plate then I might end up turning my attention to making an optimization mod, myself.
dannym23 (and iaanacho) - "MCPatcher" refers to two different things. One is an HD texture mod thingy, which wouldn't help undo the relevant Optifunny changes to the chunk re-rendering (and I doubt the rest of what it messes up with, either). The other is for downgrading to older versions of Minecraft, which wouldn't help because TSM and Optifine have been incompatible since basically forever. :/
iaanacho - Yeah... it's still so far away... and life isn't helping in the slightest. (I honestly thought I'd at least have had the time to get a basic team together to start thinking things out with by now. Heck - I originally thought it'd be nearing completion by now, back when I started the recruitment thread!)

But no seriously, you're doing great work WeatherPony, and on behalf of everyone who loves seasons mod, we truly appreciate you're continued support and maintenance of one of the best mods out there.
Like seriously, how did they overlook seasons when they released the vanilla game?
But if you need another tester, or a member of that team to start thinking things out, I can fully offer my services
fionn153 - I wish I didn't have to worry about a [non-programming] job, either. I even took the time to figure out how much I'd need to earn from modding to call it a part-time job, money-wise (which would mean I could quit my current job and work full-effort on programming [letting me work not quite 3 times the time, and leading to about 4 times the code production]... at least until I dried up my savings ) Unfortunately, that amount is over 60 (yeah - sixty) times the best I earned from The Seasons Mod, so I don't think it would work out...
