Using the last version of this mod, on DNS Tech Pack, after building the structure I can't craft the soul shard.
Everything is in place but I right click with diamond and it doesn't work.

Possible issue here. I had a tier 3 cow shard that has been working great for quite a while, around a week or so. Today I went to move the cow farm and when I broke the spawner with my drill the shard didn't drop. I just built an Enderman farm about 2 days ago (tier 5) and the shard dropped fine (had to reposition the spawner a bunch of times).
I am afraid to test this on the enderman spawner. Is this a known issue or did something crazy just happen?
ed: just tried it on the enderman spawner and same result. No shard dropped for some reason.
ed2: seems creating a new shard and putting it in a soul cage works as expected. The shard is dropped normally. is there a way to get my enderman and cow shards back... without going through the pain of making another t5 shard? (nvm, just cheated a bunch of enderman spawners and absorbed them with a new shard)

EDIT: My bug report below critiques the distribution with FTB. I replaced the jar FTB 1.5.2 ftp152wgt included with SoulShards-1.0.36-universal-srg.jar from your download link and it works perfectly.
I am playing FTB 1.5.2 with Greg Tech version 5 on Mac 10.8.3 under Java 1.6. I can't use a shard on a spawner either. When I right click a shard with a few Blaze souls in it already on a blaze spawner, I get;

You have posted the latest version as 1.5.1, but how am I supposed to use 1.5.1 if it requires a 7.8.0.716 forge version? 7.8.0+ forge is for 1.5.2 only.
EE3 + Ender Chest + Ender Pouch you are willing to lose = End stone is not that big of a deal
Removing the whole anvil thing is what is really required to make this mod not so OP. The End stone requirement is just an annoyance that attempts to nerf things but just wastes time and makes it less fun to use.
How am I supposed to get end stone with those items?
How does one go about collecting the spawners to increase the kill count or tier of the soul shard? I've tried right click with the soul shard in my hand, destroying the spawner with the shard in my equipped items... not sure if I'm not registering it in my brain as an increase or if there is none. Anywho, great mod so far, really enjoy being able to spawn whatever I want wherever I want it
I have a Tier 5 pig shard but I cannot place it in a soul cage....
I am at Y: 4 in the overworld.... do i need grass? do i need to be on the surface? Can i not create a pig one?
The only time I had this problem was when there was a shard in the cage already (which is impossible to tell as the animation is missing). Try breaking the cage and placing it down again.

EDIT: just noticed that this cage looks like a natural one instead of looking like iron bars....
I used 8 iron bars in a chest pattern.... really confused now....
Question. Is there a fix for blaze spawners not giving xp? Im getting nothing from my lv5 spawner. Killing it manually doesnt work. Not even a lxp catalyzer works.

Also shadwdrgn it seems like their is a bug with blaze spawners. For some reason after a server restart, the blaze spawner will be turned on, even though a redstone signal is being supplied to it. I just have to the turn the signal off and on again and the spawner will be off. Can this be fixed? Is it a problem with soul shards or the redstone cabling im using?

I have this problem with all spawners when using rednet cabling from MFR... At first I thought MFR was to blame until I setup a second rednet network with MFR's auto spwawner and a tesla coil which seems to work, so now I am not sure... all I know is that when the server restarts the console is spammed with "removing persistance" until all the network colors leading to spawners are reset by being turned off and on again.

I'm also experiencing that inability to absorb monster spawners with soul shards. Any one have any luck with that?
I have a suggestion for the mod if I may. Having some way of specifiying additional monsters for use with the soul cage/soul shards via config file or something similar would be an amazing feature.
Also I personally like the amount of kills it takes to get a spawner. If I ever want to change that theres always the config file, but getting an item normally unobtainable should be hard in my opinion (at least for SMP). If theres any way to keep that in future updates I'd thoroughly enjoy it. Although change isnt a bad thing either. Just thought I'd put my two cents in. Great mod so far!
The Instructions say to put the .zip into the mods folder but I keep getting a .jar file for minecraft 1.5.2
