Updated Flint Craft Mod to 1.5.1 with permission from original mod author. Please comment about it on his forum post.
Updated Chert Craft Mod: 1.5.1r3 Adds a version checker, which is currently and intentionally set to be the wrong version so the message will show up on the screen, doing this just to test it out, will be corrected at some point.
USES THE SAME CONFIG AS THE PREVIOUS VERSION.
Finally updated my I Don't Like Villages Mod to 1.5.1, which is a base class replacement for the village mapgen that changes a 'true' to a 'false' that prevents villages and villagers from spawning.
Updated Desert Grund Plant Mod: 1.5.1r2 adds a block that tops the Grund Plant and now grows grass and has a chance of dropping seeds. Works just like a normal grund block and adds ability to use a wooden hoe to guarantee seed drop. Might have to start a new world, save your IDs, a new config is created.
Updated Ancient Tree Root Mod: 1.5.1r2 reduces the vein size amount but increases the chunk size and now spawns in sand. Also reduced the stick recipe to get one stick. Now you can use a wooden axe to get a chance to get some seeds. (Use your imagination on that last one, maybe the wooden axe causes them to burst out of the root?) Please delete your old config file, a new with the right name will be made. Copy your ID number if you changed it.
Added New Mod!!! Desert Petrified Wood, This mod will spawn petrified wood block in the desert and sometimes in dirt and stone. Breaking it will drop a few pieces of petrified wood from which you can craft an axe or a spear, which are a bit above iron specs. Putting the petrified wood in the furnace will carbonize it making it twice as good as coal.
Updated Chert Craft to 1.5.1r2b which contains new stone ores, a new glass, fix for old chert glass, glass panels now placeable and other minor fixes. Also changed the amounts of ore generated. Added armor and tools for one of the new cherts, added new spears. The config file you have may not work with this release, if you use the FML IDs, you will have to manually do them, for now.
If you get a "NumberFormatException" error, your config file is missing the new items, delete it and try again. If you already did that, then find the matching IDs from your mods configs and change them until it works.

The following spoiler only applies to the 1.4.2 versions of my mods using Modloader. (not Forge Modloader) The Modloader versions are not working as they are supposed to and will be fixed soon. My favorite vanilla world generation seeds are "dessert" without quotes. With the Default option you spawn next to a temple in a desert with a good amount of trees, this is how I test my desert mods. With the Large Biomes options you spawn on an island with a few trees, very fun playing this one in Hardcore.
If you get a "NumberFormatException" error, find the matching IDs from your mods configs and change them until it works.
Install my mods in your "mods" folder. They work with single player and may work on servers. All use a config file in your "mods" folder for ID compatibility with other mods.
If you want to use my mods in a modpack, just let me know and link to me.
1.5.X mods are universal for both Risugamis' Modloader and Forge Modloader. Previous versions have separate downloads for most, some had cross compatibility.
My mods work great with the Better World Generation Mod though only with Risugamis' Modloader. Because of the cross-compatibility (and how BWG in Forge generates ores) my mods do not generate ores when using BWG and Forge Modloader. Working on fixing this.

nice mod, this is just what I was looking for to go with flintcraft.
I was starting to wonder if people were trying it and if it even worked for other people. Glad to know it works. I actually have my own FlintCraft type mod in the works, but mine is a bit different than that one.

Anyone have any ideas for what else I could add that uses Chert?
Also, I was going to make a Forge compatible version, but everything works right with the decompile until the very end when it says it's missing and If after and else. If I could get that fixed I could work on the Forge edition of ChertCraft.
New items for ChertCraft in a few days. Been working alot lately and haven't has as much time as I would like to play Minecraft.

you might want to consider rebalancing with some sidegrades over straight stone and iron, mainly since we already have stone and iron. if we need a 1x smelt just to get stone stats, and a 2x smelt just to get iron stats, this actually requires more work for the same amount of speed/durability/defense, so this tools/armor will get pretty limited use, seeing as they're so easy to obtain. it's a good alternative though, we can always use more recipes for flint and gravel.

Thank you for the feedback, I was wanting to change the specs of both to make them more unique but don't know exactly where I want them yet so I just made them act like stone and iron.

Changed flint to be crafted from Chert instead of by smelting hardened chert.
Added Chert armor.
Added better durability for both tool sets.
Lowered the speed of both tool sets to offset better durability.
Added better enchantability to both tool sets. (needs testing, I don't know how to enchant stuff)
Changed the textures a bit for the armor sets.

mushroom torch thats a pretty cool idea, kind of like how dynamic lights handheld torches work but we can actually place them without giving off real light. mob spawns are easily prevented by half blocks, so set up your farm so that walkways use slabs and any growth areas are only 1 block high.

If I put the light levels on each torch where it would be "normal", the game switches them, so they are coded backwords. I still don't know why it wont work "normal".

"normal" as in giving off real light? I thought the purpose of this was for cosmetic light only, so that we could easily place them to light up mushroom farms without losing efficiency.
if you need some direction I would check out atomicstryker's code for dynamic lights, he provides the source in all his mods. it's a good example imo since the way he does it avoids base class edits (through mcpatcher sideloading) and rarely needs to be updated even for new snapshots. it could be made as a feature extension to blocks you can place as far as I understand it, that way you won't have to rewrite everything on your own.

Item Soup Dos Mod - Adds stacking to twelve to the bowl of soup item.
Mushroom Torch Mod - Adds new torches with different light levels.
Rotten Flesh Leather Mod - Adds smelting ability to rotten flesh to get leather.
Smeltable Gravel Mod - Adds smelting ability to gravel to get flint.

I was starting to wonder if people were trying it and if it even worked for other people. Glad to know it works. I actually have my own FlintCraft type mod in the works, but mine is a bit different than that one.

Also, I was going to make a Forge compatible version, but everything works right with the decompile until the very end when it says it's missing and If after and else. If I could get that fixed I could work on the Forge edition of ChertCraft.
New items for ChertCraft in a few days. Been working alot lately and haven't has as much time as I would like to play Minecraft.
Thank you for the feedback, I was wanting to change the specs of both to make them more unique but don't know exactly where I want them yet so I just made them act like stone and iron.

New in ChertCraft version 1.1:
Changed flint to be crafted from Chert instead of by smelting hardened chert.
Added Chert armor.
Added better durability for both tool sets.
Lowered the speed of both tool sets to offset better durability.
Added better enchantability to both tool sets. (needs testing, I don't know how to enchant stuff)
Changed the textures a bit for the armor sets.

Thanks for the feedback. They were a pain in the **** to make. Still a little messed up, the light levels are backwords in the script, but shows up how I wanted it in the game, I have no idea why. If I put the light levels on each torch where it would be "normal", the game switches them, so they are coded backwords. I still don't know why it wont work "normal".
"normal" as in giving off real light? I thought the purpose of this was for cosmetic light only, so that we could easily place them to light up mushroom farms without losing efficiency.
if you need some direction I would check out atomicstryker's code for dynamic lights, he provides the source in all his mods. it's a good example imo since the way he does it avoids base class edits (through mcpatcher sideloading) and rarely needs to be updated even for new snapshots. it could be made as a feature extension to blocks you can place as far as I understand it, that way you won't have to rewrite everything on your own.
