Absorbent Snow Blocks (or Liquids No More!) (1.5.2 - 1.3.2)
With this mod, you can simply place a snow block in a pool of water or lava and watch as it quickly moves through the liquid, granting access to any hidden ores or clay. It also spreads through ice, and it spreads through both the still and flowing versions of water and lava. It only takes thirty seconds for a large patch of water to disappear. The end result:A snow block will only spread fifteen times before stopping, but if you place another snow block next to a wall that has already formed, it will spread through the wall of snow blocks and the water. You don't have to create entirely new walls of snow, and if two walls of snow meet, they will merge together. You can continue absorbing liquid until the pool you are trying to empty is clear. Huge walls of snow will cause rendering problems when they move, and I don't think there is anything I can do about them. They don't affect the game negatively, and they aren't much of a problem.Maybe you don't find water to be much of a problem, but don't like how lava hides useful ores and blocks off parts of caves. For example, you might find yourself at a lava pool. Using only two snow blocks, you can turn it into this:revealing previously hidden coal, iron, and redstone. You can also remove any flowing lava that takes forever to disappear naturally. But what if you want to use snow blocks to create Snow Golems, igloos or other structures? (or build with ice, if using the ice version) No problem: if you place a snow block and there isn't any water, lava, or ice around it, it stays put. Ice and Snow Blocks will still melt normally, unless they are created by a spreading block. Snow Blocks that are formed by spreading don't drop snowballs, but normally placed snow blocks drop the normal amount of snowballs. The best part about this mod, however, is that it doesn't require Modloader or Forge, and it is completely compatible with them. It only changes the snow block class, so it should be compatible with any mod that doesn't change the one file it alters. If you have any problems with the mod or suggestions for how I can improve it, tell me. Anti-Creeper Discs (1.3.2 or 1.4.6/1.4.7)
If you've ever been face to face with an exploding creeper, you'd rather not do it again. And the only useful thing they have is gunpowder. The music discs don't actually have any practical use. With this mod, however, music discs can protect you from creepers, in more ways than one. When you use a record while using this mod, messages will appear on the screen every second, telling you how far away the nearest creeper is.
When you right click again, the messages stop. As long as the disc stays in your inventory, the messages will continue. If you're being chased by a creeper, you won't have to turn around to see how far away he is. You can just turn on the disc before you start running, and you'll always know how far from the creeper you are. If you're in a cave, you can turn on the disc and see where creepers might be. You won't face many unpleasant surprises with this mod.Maybe you forget to turn the disc on, though, or fell straight through a deep hole onto a creeper. The creeper is about to explode, and the disc can't save you now...or can it? The secondary function of the disc is to reset a creeper's fuse countdown, so yes, it can. Just right click on a creeper with a disc and watch as he deflates back to normal, giving you more time to think of a way to escape. You can even alternate between hitting and right clicking to slowly whittle down the creeper's health. You can only find music discs rarely in dungeon chests or get them when a skeleton kills a creeper, though, so you do need to put in some effort. I might make the discs have finite uses for their fuse-resetting function, depending on any feedback I get. Like my Absorbent Snow Blocks mod, this mod is compatible with Modloader and Forge, but it doesn't require them. It should be compatible with any mod that doesn't edit the same file this mod does, including my other mod. If you have any problems with this mod or suggestions for how to improve it, tell me. Interesting mod! But snow seems too easy to make for such a powerful item. Maybe look at making it a bit more exclusive like an Ice block - this variant would require silk-touch to obtain and would give people a reason to want to farm Ice blocks!
The regular snowblocks are the ones that spread through water, lava, and ice, so any snowblocks you craft will work. If you have the ice version, the snowblocks won't work, so make sure you are using the snowblock version.
