When an Enderman take a hit (from a player or anything else) it is going to drop the item that he is grabbing, for example: If he takes a Dirt Block and you hit him he is going to drop the dirt block on the floor
Doen't requires ModLoader/Forge but it's compatible with them
Works with LAN and SMP.
Wanna see it working in a video? Ok.. Jump to 2min
If you install in a server, you don't need to install in the clients.
If you install in a client, only single player worlds (and LAN servers open from that client) will be affected.
Summarizing: This mod goes inside minecraft.jar :-)
How to install:
1) Open the directory %APPDATA%
2) Open the directory .minecraft
3) Open the directory bin
4) Open the file minecraft.jar with WinRAR
5) Drag and drop the files inside this zip file to minecraft.jar
6) Delete the META-INF directory
In dedicated server:
1) Open the file minecraft_server.jar with WinRAR
2) Drag and drop the files inside this zip file to minecraft.jar
Does it work in multiplayer, or only singleplayer? (Not labeled either way)
EDIT: Also, how about only dropping when you kill them, instead of when you hit them?
Not really much of a difference to be had there, since hitting the enderman will cause him to attack you. Then your only options are to kill him or try running away because the enderman wants its block back. I personally would hate to see it changed to kill, but maybe he could make a second version which only works with killing.

There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.
I've never seen an enderman with anything but dirt...
We've seen Endermen with grass a lot on our server.
We have been running a bukkit plugin that lets them drop their contents on death, so we've managed to recover grass blocks three times now, for decoration, without silk touch. But it's a pain to do.
And, moving forward, we're moving to non-bukkit mods, so bukkit won't work, and need vanilla mods instead.
yes it work in multiplayer. just click on open to LAN and who have the mod can join too =P
"Open to LAN" is not multiplayer server.
Nor is it an acceptable alternative.
(Open to LAN only opens one network interface, may open the wrong interface, requires that the client be running, requires that the world be set up as single player, requires that I tie up the GPU card, forces the fan to be running and noisy, etc.)
