I've quitted Minecraft for about 3 months, and i want to get back because 1.7.2 update but now i guess i just stay quitted?what's ur opinion?
My opinion is that there's plenty of mods out there that can offer pretty much the same thing as 1.7.2 offers. Biome mods add new biomes and trees, there's mods that have stained glass. Most everyone is looking forward to playing on 1.7.2 as soon as possible, but Minecraft just underwent some massive changes that require the Forge team to do a lot of code rewriting on their part to get things working.
A lot of work goes into getting Forge ready for new Minecraft versions, and a lot of work goes into getting mods updated to new versions as well. Especially in this case, where practically every mod is going to have to undergo at least a partial rewrite in order to update.
It isn't something that just happens overnight. It takes a lot of time and effort, and that's on top of all of the developers (Forge team or otherwise) actual lives, which obviously come first in nearly all cases.
Best thing to do right now is to just be patient and understanding, and if you really want to play Minecraft with mods, use 1.6.4 or an earlier version. Like I said before, there's not really much in 1.7.2 that can't be achieved through other mods that already exist for 1.6.4.
Of course, there's always the option of playing 1.7.2 without mods.

Wow,thank you for keeping me motivated, now i'll play 1.7.2 without mods. Thanks for long reply.I'll play on creative to build some stuffs. Can you please answer my thread please?I need some ideas to build a house.
Is this mod list actually stil being updated, because the list is pretty out dated, and in some instances mods just aren't added, Ive been submitting my own mod to be updated on the list more than 20 times now for 1.6.2 and 1.6.4 and nadda this is over the course of a month, so just want to know is the list been maintained atm or do we perhaps need a better list, I honestly find mods still way better on planetminecraft stuff is actually being updated on there so yeah take note.
Planet Minecraft is not the same as a mod list. It's a mod hosting site, actually offering downloads. You can make accounts and manage your own mods there, all fully automated. Every mod has its own manager.
On the other hand, this mod list is literally run by two people. Two people who have things to do aside from make sure the list is updated 24/7. Every new mod added to the list requires a certain amount of attention to be sure they work and that the information provided is accurate. I tire from the things I must do on a daily basis to the point that I lack drive to continuously add things. Until we get more people capable and trustworthy with the list, you're free to look elsewhere.
That's a silly comparison to make. Put simply, yes it's still being maintained. The last update (stuff added) was two days ago if you hadn't read the front page of the site. Yes, your mod is on the submissions list to be added when half of the staff (1) gets around to having the drive to provide you the free service... New submissions come in all the time. If the point hasn't come across yet, then how about "It's hard to keep up".
The list is fair game, free for all to use, ad-free, and no money is earned from it. The two people who do work on it are 100% volunteers. Myself and GrygrFlzr.

I used to maintain the Minecraft Forums Mod List. However, life has stepped in the way of that. Perhaps later...
modders manage yourselves site, cause that seems to work best
If that ever happens, it's not going to happen now or in the near future. That's miles away, but I have ideas for that as it is. That's for another time.
don't advertise your mods will be automatically updated
This is not advertised anywhere. Nobody said that it would automatically be updated, and if they did, they're wrong. However they didn't. The word "auto" doesn't appear even once in the OP. The only automation mentioned here, if ever, was that I and Gryg would automatically be informed. Which stands true.
It will never be automatically updated, and for good reason. Some people lie, and some people are ignorant as to what the submission form is actually for. There's nobody to moderate that.
pm the whole process you have to go through to get a mod updated on the list and I will do that for you.
Updating the mods on the list has no process other than about 3 keystrokes after loading up a file. That's the thing though. I haven't gotten to yours yet.
I'm not certain what impression you're under. The entering of the information on the site isn't a skim-and-submit type of thing. At least not for new mods. New mods added, updating mods already on the list, checking if all of the information remains accurate, fixing it if not, testing new mods to see if they'll work decently/at all on Single/Multiplayer, making sure they're not auto-created mods made with things like MCreator, making sure descriptions tell you about what's added and not about how the mod author themself feels about it (trying to keep out subjectivity)... NONE of that is automated. For over 1k mods. It's done by hand. As such, since I am not being paid for any of it, you can imagine why the time I feel like dedicating to it at any given time, among the other things I enjoy doing/contributing to, on top of being a good man to my fiancee, might be limited.
The site doesn't use anything other than html, css, php, and js. It's all on github because the servers the site are on do not belong to me, nor are they under my direct control. The site is updated by proxy, and github is the middleman. The perk is that it's always backed up. The downside is that there's (for now) no databases, or anything fancy like that.
If you came back because the 1.7.2 update seemed interseting, why would you need mods? Play vanilla 1.7.2 while waiting for mods to update.
There are some mods that add feature that will make Minecraft player life easier.Examples:
1.Inventory tweaks
2.NEI(For drops magnet only)
3.Chicken chunks
4.Zombie flesh to leather.
1.7.2 might be out for Minecraft, but Forge won't be updated to 1.7.x for a couple months. We likely won't be seeing many mods for 1.7.2 until the new year.
I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. If you have troubles with anything non-Minecraft related on your PC, I might be able to help, though, but no promises. Even though I could wish to be, I'm not a wizard.

Next update will add Limestone, Limestone Dust, Molten Iron Ingots, Steel Ingots, Steel ore blocks, Steel tools and armor, and [maybe] some new guns and flowers. It may add some new commands, too. I will also start working on some slot GUIs and [maybe] crafting GUIs.
EDIT: Since the posting of this mod on this topic, I now know that it is the most popular mod made using MCreator EVER. Period. (It has 2450+ downloads in a space of only 2 months)
What a lot of you MC(ers) need to realize is that most mods rely on the MCP toolkit which helps most mod developers(more so the more complicated mods) do what they do to create mods.
If you wish to get a general idea of where your mod stands as far as being updated take a look at the MCP teams site.
The most recent update explains why its taking so long for them to get their stuff updated to 1.7.2. Just be patient guys, I'm quite anxious myself to get my hands on 1.7.2 WITH my favorite mods, but like I said, just be patient and wait it out, or enjoy vanilla 1.7.2 for a while. Posting these kinds of questions over and over about mods and what not can get quite old, quite fast.
As for the OP thanks for your lists even though its not updated right when the mods come out I still find it quite a reliable source for trying out new stuff.

Thanks for the laugh. It sure was entertaining to see your 1.7 modlist.
Seriously though, you use websites that lie about which version the mods are at. You use any site that says the mod is at that version whether or not it is true. Instead of listing the official page/thread for a mod, you list other sites which parrot the info, sometimes incorrectly.
Once the site is updated (the backend, not mods), we'll be opening the doors to a few people to help out with the list to help keep it up to date instead of just me and Gryg. Once we get a few more people on-board, then we'll talk about expansion. Resource packs is definitely something I'm interested in listing as well.
