Oh man, this is an absolutely amazing mod! You two did an excellent job, the guys saying the fish look too detailed are crazy, they're Awesome! The only problem I found is when I was randomly spawning eggs in the water to test them out, when I tried spawning the sunflower (underwater) it completely froze my game. Other than that I've had no texture problems or shadow problems that others are mentioning.
Again, great job on the mod. Easily one of the greatest mods out there. You should make a new banner so people can show ya'll off
Edit: Oh and DJ you should do a little blue frog with like orange stripes down the side, that should be pretty cool. Also, with the hammerheads you gotta be doing like great whites right?
Ahh. That's the sorta bug I'm looking for. Check all the other plants that spawn in groups, the sunflower should be the only one that does it, but let me know. I probably forgot to change something, they will endlessly try to find a place to spawn and the game will crash if I set the spawn-in conditions wrong. At one point the schooling fish were doing the same, so I know how to fix it.
-edit- Yep, it's checking for a grass block below it to spawn in, since there are none underwater it causes a buffer overflow and the game crashes. That's a nasty one.
so we have the clams now as well eh? this makes me thing ya would have these critters give us foo items as well to cook, it's make getting food more fun and well give us more to eat seeing as food can be a lil hard to find at times.
The "final" will have all the fish dropping... you guessed it, fish. As for any other food items, I reckon we could afford to take up a few item ids and add different food drops for them, I'm not 100% on what I'm going to do with the clams yet
clam strips
clam bake
clam scampy
fried clams
boiled clams
creamed clams
frozen clams
clams with food
spicy clams
raw clams... makes you wish you had a minecraft girlfriend! ... lol
GET IT?
it's because it is an aphrodisiac!!!... or is that oysters?
I know this mod isn't a tool mod but could you make clams drop pearls that could be used to make tools and armour? If not that as fishing rod bait or villager currency?

They go in the /mods/ folder now, as far as I know you could do the same with ours, there's nothing in the code to prevent it from working that way. I just tested it myself and it worked fine, so... changed
I love this mod so much! It's soo amazing! The Koi fishes looks wonderful if they are in a pond near a Pagoda, or a japanese garden with Cherry blossom trees. I made it before.
When I first opened this thread I was surprised at the quality of the mob models and wished I had discovered the mod sooner, then I realized its new. Oh yeah and its cute the way you two work together and he doesnt even play MC anymore.
Ive recently invested a lot of time and thought into trying to set up a perfect list of mods, all nicely balanced and straightforward. Well I slowly realized that most of the really good minecraft mods are anything but straightforward. now I have a lot of unwanted stuff in my game just so I can have a few things that I do.
When it came to mob mods, I put their importance pretty high on the list but as time went on and my FPS decreased due to the not so great implementation of said mobs I asked myself what do I want from these things? And thats pretty simple. I want more animals to hunt for food and other resources. If the animal doesnt drop a food item then it had better be something useful (still would prefer food), it cant be tamed or bred and isnt hostile... why is it even there eating up my framerate?
So basically what Im saying, as a guy who tried hard but failed at finding a mob mod that is balanced and useful, I suggest focusing squarely on animals, no new swords or anything like that. If the creature drops something that isnt meat, then let it be something useful already in the game like slimeballs. The abilty to capture and breed the mobs are of huge importance to me as well and I hope you guys implement it.
Heres an idea. Whats better than food? food with instant healing properties thats what. Cant make it too easy to make but Im thinking with such a large variety of fish to choose from, you guys could come up with recipes of certain types of fish to add together for different effects. I never liked MC's alchemy or enchanting system, I much prefer to be hacking at things with a sword or axe than standing at a crafting table.
So I did testing on every block you could possibly spawn on under light/dark and small/open conditions and you were right, the sunflower will crash me everytime except on grass; everything else spawns fine.
Did you know that the coral 2 looks completely different on land than in the water? And some of it falls through the first block then suffocates and dies?
And just one more thing, based on the videos it might just be mine, but the look of the coral underwater is bright like it doesn't seem underwater it looks the same as on land underwater. Do you know what I mean?
Thank you for your great work, I hope you don't think of this as nagging I just post this to help you make this mod as great as it can be because it seriously awesome already and I can't imagine when its truly done!
Well, give it a shot if you haven't, the hit can be surprisingly low, especially if you use Optifine instead of the default renderer. If it just plain isn't usable for you, I'm sorry to hear that. Would you happen to know your system specs so I can get an idea of the requirements?
I will give it a shot once it's updated to the newest MC version. (I'm always so curios about new features that I update as soon as it gets out.) ATM I wouldn't like downgrading to 1.2.5.

(dunno whether that is what you wanted to know)

I suggest Mother-of-Pearl-Blocks made from 9 pearls. (*builder loves her decorative blocks*)
Villager currency is good too. And you could make a seeshells-and-pearls-coronet (=>"Helmet") from it that marks you as the master of the waves.
And I am TOTALLY doing a sea dragon. both a leafy and a weedy

like mo' creatures
or better than wolves
or aether
or did something change in the one month we didn't have internet?

It does work, because I have both
