Welcome to the first release of Slappy McCracken's Aquatic Life Expanded, we hope you like what you see. As there's waaaaay more in this thing than what shows up in the video. What exactly? Well, you'll have to explore to find out! Post videos and screenshots of your discoveries!
What's in the mod -
5 alligator gar - aggressive, though they don't currently target, they will hurt you if they touch you
5 anemone - right now they just look nice in a clownfish/reef setup, soon they will be the home base for clownfish
5 marine angels - Spawn in schools, swim as a group
5 fresh angels - Ditto
5 anglerfish - Glows, will be aggressive, tends to stay deep in the ocean (should also do damage when it touches you)
5 axolotl - Tadpoles can turn into these cute little guys, they're just sorta lazy and floaty
5 boxfish - They puff up when they collide with something. Unlike real life, this doesn't hurt them, and they return to normal after a few seconds.
5 clam - They spawn in beds and add to the aesthetic, eventually I'll probably make them drop something neat
4 clownfish - Currently they just swim around lookin' like clown fish, I'm working on "home base" code
5 coral A - Glows, spawns in natural reefs
5 coral B - Ditto
5 freshwater rock - Just looks nice, has biome specific textures for the log next to the rock
5 freshwater plant - Ditto, has biome specific textures (spawns on land and water)
2 crab - They're crabs being crabs. They dig in the dirt for food when they're standing still
5 small marine schooling fish - Some of these guys swim in tight schools, some have more shoaling behavior
5 small fresh schooling fish - Ditto
5 aquatic ground cover - It's grass, more or less. It looks like grass, spawns in patches, and occurs on land and in the water.
1 eel - Glows, swims deep, will be aggressive once that portion of the code is done
1 frog - Looks like a frog, moves like a frog, sadly doesn't have a segway in the released version.
5 hermit crab - They're hermit crabs, what else is there to say?
5 leafy aquatic plant - These can really make a freshwater tank pop, they spawn on land as well
5 logs - Driftwood, good for tanks... or just nice to look at. Biome specific textures (to match native trees), spawns on land and in water
5 jellyfish - Glow, spawn in large group, form into natural spires, and occasionally break away from the bunch for a bit before going back
9 koi - Our classic mob, revisited! They have shoaling behavior now, with all new textures. They're rare, occurring only in the taiga and mountainous regions
5 orchid - Currently the only non-animated thing in the mod, they *SHOULD* spawn in trees in the jungle
5 seahorse - They're sorta floaty, eventually I'll probably try to make them latch on to coral
1 sea turtle - By far the rarest thing in the mod, in terms of the spawn numbers, they don't leave the water.
3 marine shrimp - They look around as they walk, currently they are able to leave the water (will be changed) and they occur in freshwater areas as a placeholder until we get some crawdad/ghost shrimp(?) textures going
5 small marine fish - These are your more standard fish, there's a flasher fish that changes color when you get close, and a flasher wrasse which *SHOULD* do a display every once in a while, but it may be broken
5 small fresh water fish - Standard freshwater fish, bass and the like
5 starfish - They're just starfish. Don't stare too hard or you might start to trip out
5 stingray - Stays on the bottom, will eventually blink and possibly attack things with it's barb
5 sunflower - Occur in decent sized groups on the plains, just adds something to another area we felt was lacking
5 tadpole - If they aren't within range of an axolotl, one tadpole in the area will change, it can be a frog or it can be an axolotl. In a future release the process will take more time and they will go through stages
2 whales (though they look similar) - They're whales. In Minecraft. Nuff said.
-Coming in future releases-
Color changing octopus - First version of the Octopus will slowly crawl along the bottom and mask itself to look like live rock or something similar
Hammerhead shark - Aggressive, should be a unique look for a shark in MC
Manta ray - Not much to say here, you know what a manta does
Piranha - Because they're in every other mod that adds water mobs, might as well do our own version to match, yeah?
Jerboa (kangaroo rat) - Desert dwelling hopping rodents that only come out at night, just to add some life to a desolate place
more complex tadpole metamorphosis - Mentioned above, they will go through stages of transformation
Catfish - Can't have bass without catfish, now can we?
Freshwater eels - These guys will be much smaller than their marine cousins, I might make them hide in logs or plants
Venus fly trap
Sundew plants - All the plants are aesthetic for the time being, the plan being to make them growable at some point, so these should fill in gaps
Salamanders - An axolotl is a type of salamander... but these guys won't look quite so... alien. Mature salamanders are terrestrial, so you'll get to see them crawl out of the water I reckon
Lizards - We have frogs, now we need lizards for the desert, so we'll be adding them. I'll probably make them bask in the sunlight
Cave fish - Spawn only in dark areas, these guys can't see and will probably be the only fish to actively swim up to you

This first release is largely untested on any configuration but our own, but it's confirmed working with a clean 1.25 installation + modloader. Tested compatible with Optifine (recommended for everyone, even if you don't use our mod), the water shader mod (looks fantastic, in my opinion), Better Than Wolves and SPC. Let us know about any bugs you run across, keep in mind I'm still working on their behavior, so this isn't the "final" in terms of everything that's going on. The filter is in the game, but only available via command line (SPC) or spawn eggs. There is currently no way to move the fish, but if you are in creative mode you can give yourself the spawn eggs for them.
The mobs were designed with the Summer Fields texture pack in mind, as that is the only pack DJ uses now. We cover the ocean, rivers, and various other bodies of water in addition to having animated land plants and even a frog (a damn fine one if I do say so).To install, simply copy the files into your minecraft.jar or copy the zip to your /mods/ folder.
If you don't like the way the spawn, they spawn too much for your system to handle, or you would otherwise like to customize spawns in Minecraft (on a per-world basis, including mobs added by mods), check out Davidee's Mob Spawn Controls - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Don't ask for custom controls in the mod, you will be ignored.
We claim no responsibility for jacked up jars or ruined worlds, there should be no such issues but always make backups of anything you are unwilling to lose before installing a new mod. Also, this can be fairly intense, so try turning down the draw distance or install Optifine if you're having issues. We hope you enjoy it.
I found out about the update to this mod because I subscribed to your Youtube account. :3 And I love how you made your mod page fun and exciting! But I need help. How do I install the mod? Do I put the files in the minecraft.jar, or into the mods folder? >-<
It updated! I was waiting all night for this mod. (The countless ignored bathroom breaks were worth it.) And I have to say: "AMAZING WORK YOU GUYS!!! " the creatures were fantastic and their AI even better! And the artwork, Oh man, I nearly had a heart attack, It was really detailed and looked like the real thing! Kudos and thank you for making such an amazing mod
It is impossible (that I know) to add any new blocks or mobs into a bukkit plugin because the client would need the files. You can make bukkit server MODS, but not plugins. They would still need the mod to join the server if it had it installed on it.
