Actually you're missing the point. Let's say that I have 5 iron ores laying around, and I want to smelt them. If I just pop one coal into the furnace to smelt them, I waste 3 "uses" of that coal. By breaking it into chunks before using it, I use up 5 of the chunks but the remaining 3 are not burnt up.

Therefore I save the remaining 3 to use later on, instead of wasting them.

Cool! Can you do this with blaze rods too? Maybe even make more uses for the hammer such as if you break an iron block with it, it drops 9 ingots.

Nice! I suggest making it a weapon (as powerful as a diamond sword) as well and I will definitely download!

Yeah I'm considering doing that. I'm also considering adding "weaker" versions of the Hammer with less durability. I kinda like it being a pricier tool, though.

Great mod just needs more things added and i also have an idea.

You could repair items WITH enchantments on with a hammer.

And if you add more hammers like wood, stone and, gold then make it so that each hammer repairs a different amount and can repair more items.

I'm thinking about possibly adding the ability to use the Hammer(s) to get "chunks" of ores instead of Ore blocks or Diamond "gems", and then use the chunks to repair enchanted (and normal) items.

This seems like a good way for Hammer to get its foot in the door. It would be especially useful if it improved efficiency of the coal or did some of the above suggestions.
