SO, is the name change from "Salination Block" to "Solar Evaporation Block" the only change in making a salination plant? Freaked out when I couldn't find the salination block recipe in nei.
Some way upthread I asked how I can make neighboring pipes and tubes not connect. I didn't get any useful answers, but I found out on my own: you use microblock covers. They can coexist with pipes and tubes in the same block space. You can also route pipes and tubes through hollow covers. This isn't really a revolutionary feature but I didn't expect it to work because at first glance, at least the mechanical pipes appear too wide for that.
Also, the pressurized tubes prevent themselves from being places when they would be adjacent to two other pipes containing different gases even if there is a cover to prevent connection, but you can get around that by temporarily removing one of the adjacent pipes that doesn't have the same problem.
I have set up a tier 4 ore processing system. It all works well, but my three maximum-size evaporation towers placed in a desert and running at multiplier 2.0 are not enough to keep up with the output of a single chemical dissolution chamber with NO speed upgrades. I have my chemical washer running with four speed upgrades and the rest of the machines (including the injection chamber which needs the hydrochloric acid, no factories yet) with 8 speed upgrades, that appears to have everything running with no bottlenecks, and I have 8 gas upgrades in every machine that accepts them. I don't even need the hydrochloric acid to produce sulfur because sulfur spawns in my world. Everything runs well, except that I can't produce enough brine.
Is the brine production really such an extreme bottleneck or am I doing something wrong?
I'm afraid there isn't much too since many machines are part of a compact setup with covers and all, but here some impressions:
Image 1: This short we're in a desert, that the towers are maximum height and that the multiplier is 2. The brine tanks are full because the facility has not been running for a while.
Image 2: I have three of those towers. The water is pumped from a tank supplied by two transfer nodes (one isn't enough). The brine is pumped into an OpenBlocks tank as a buffer. The pipes are advanced mechanical pipes. Possibly I'll need to upgrade them for the water, but atm they're not a problem.
Image 3: Here's the gas production. I didn't know the numbers so I made four electrolytic separators for water and for brine each, based on the observation that the volumes of the gases produced appear to diminish significantly. There's no bottleneck in this setup. Except for the brine supply of course. The sulfuric acid production is under the covers in the front. You can see the gas tank for the end product.
Image 4: The actual ore processing. Decidedly simple compared to the gas production. The Dissolution chamber has no speed upgraded, the Washer has four and the other machines have eight. I'll need to redesign this if I want maximum speed with factories and all - I've calculated that if I speed up the Dissolution chamber with six upgrades, I'll need three washers and six crystallizers, followed by Elite factories for the rest - but there's no point if I don't get the brine bottleneck solved.

Hey guys, small question. What's the sodium from Brine used for? I mean, it seems to serve no purpose in Mekanism 8.1.0 (RR3). It could be crystallised into salt, then turned back into Brine again I guess? Might make the brine production problem less of a hassle
just to add to the discussion for people needing more brine /t production, mystcraft age or similar set to eternal day is the only max efficiency setup, desert biome as always.
[edit] personally, my advice is the same as every fluid, overproduce insanely, chunkload on a server, ae system takes in all of your liquid storage, after a week of uptime your server should have millions of buckets of brine in excess to kick-start with. [/edit]

well.... poop, i hoped this was fixed after the forge fluids *bleep* up, but nope, slurry refuses to enter the chemical washing chamber to be turned into clean slurry, if put directly into the crystallyzer instead it enters the machine but no action is taken.

It's an extreme bottleneck. But with hard work, you get x4/x5 the ore!
Edit: And yes, Harley, they're a big hit in the deserts. But, I don't know what happened to the "Big Hit"..

Hey guys, small question. What's the sodium from Brine used for? I mean, it seems to serve no purpose in Mekanism 8.1.0 (RR3). It could be crystallised into salt, then turned back into Brine again I guess? Might make the brine production problem less of a hassle
just to add to the discussion for people needing more brine /t production, mystcraft age or similar set to eternal day is the only max efficiency setup, desert biome as always.
[edit] personally, my advice is the same as every fluid, overproduce insanely, chunkload on a server, ae system takes in all of your liquid storage, after a week of uptime your server should have millions of buckets of brine in excess to kick-start with. [/edit]

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
well.... poop, i hoped this was fixed after the forge fluids *bleep* up, but nope, slurry refuses to enter the chemical washing chamber to be turned into clean slurry, if put directly into the crystallyzer instead it enters the machine but no action is taken.
