Overview:
Have you ever felt that Minecraft is too easy, even on the hardest difficulty?
Are you tired of mobs that pose no threat? This mod will make you fear them again.
Every hostile mob has been modified to be more threatening. Their retain their basic HP and attack power, but have each type has received a unique mechanic or powerup. Rewards are increased as well: rare drops are more frequent and enchanted drops are level 20. Of course, you can avoid mobs if you wish, but be warned: sleeping at night carries its own risks...
I recommend playing on EASY at first and NOT reading the changes marked as spoilers.

Changes:
Zombies
upgraded to fast zombies
will break doors on any difficulty
now target villagers and animals
do not burn in daylight
attacks inflict hunger
Skeletons Only attempt to fight them with ranged weaponry!
upgraded to rapid fire
now target villagers and animals
do not burn in daylight
Creepers Their shadows are visible, even when they are not...
upgraded to cloaked creepers
now target villagers
no longer fear ocelots
Spiders
upgraded to leaping spiders
greatly increased their search radius
remain hostile during the day
Spider Jockeys With the changes to both skeletons and spiders, these are now incredibly dangerous!
spawn rate increased from 1% to 2%
Endermen Beware of fighting them in enclosed spaces!
upgraded to ghostly interdimensional phantoms
immune to water damage
turn hostile on sight, listen carefully to avoid them
AI completely redone
Cave Spiders Beware skeletons and endermen while blind.
poisons the player on any difficulty
attacks inflict blindness for 10 seconds
Silverfish
will damage the player
create illusory clones to distract you
hits inflict dizziness/disorientation
Slimes
upgraded to poisonous slimes
small slimes can now hurt the player
Zombie Pigmen
turn hostile when the player looks at them
knockback added to attack
Ghasts
upgraded to rapid fire
(also fixed fireballs freezing in the air)
Magma Slimes
ignites on touch
small magma slimes can now hurt the player
Blazes
upgraded to teleporting blazes
no longer susceptible to water
General
mobs can spawn in higher light levels
maximum number of mobs increased +75%
increased chance for rare drops
enchanted drops are now level 20 (up from 5)
blazes can spawn in desert biomes
sleeping players wake up with decreased food
15% chance for a surprise when waking up
sleeping forces extra mobs to spawn
WARNING: extra mobs from sleeping spawn with a 1 minute damage buff!
Manual Install:
This mod does NOT require anything else to work (modloader, forge, etc). This also means that I cannot guarantee compatibility with other mods, though many should not be affected. As with any other mod, copy the class files into your minecraft jar and overwrite. Delete META-INF if it is present.
Automatic Install:
Download MCPatcher and select "Mods->Add..." from the menu. Select the "Increased Difficulty.zip" file included in this download and click patch.

I enjoy this mod, But I really hope you make it forge-compatible in the future; its one of the only ways to use more then a few mods at one time, and as much as I enjoy this one, and I do, I don't want to ignore everyone else's hard work. Still, kudo's to you. great work.
