-v1.1.03 released! Fixes glitch with dispenser. Arrows loosing some properties if you closed the game while the arrows were mid-flight. And some damage values changes.
-v1.1.04 released! Added the possibility to change Achievements IDs. Changed the way the toggle order works in survival (can be reversed). Added support for the Potion Arrows add-on.
-UPDATE: v1.1.05 released! Added support for MC v1.6.2. Fixed bug that made it only possible to craft wooden arrowheads with oak wood planks. [*changes/new features]
ATTENTION! - If you are updating the mod, please delete the previously generated config file (/Roaming/.minecraft/config/KKSimpleArrowsBase.cfg) before running minecraft so that a new config file [with the new features] can be generated.
This is a "simple" mod that adds 6 new arrows to the game; Wooden Arrows, Stone Arrows, Iron Arrows, Golden Arrows, Diamond Arrows and Flammable Arrows. Despite being simple the new arrows were carefully configured to behave, look and feel like they are from the vanilla game and it also offers lots of customization to fit all your playing needs. The goal of this mod is to add arrows from the original MC materials and try to balance them as perfectly as possible, so damage values can not be customized. I know it will need some tweeking to be perfect so please comment any suggestion on the values.
6 new arrows
Torch-like Flammable arrow
Customizable Key Bindings
Multiple Languages
2 new Achievements
Large config file, to change from IDs to arrow order (see the config file section)
Optional Arrows Add-ons
- Arrowheads Recipes:
- Arrows Recipes:
- Flammable Arrow Recipe:
(Shapeless, up to 4 arrows per piece of paper)
- Using the modified bow: The bow has been modified to shoot all the new arrows. You can access them by pressing "F" (for the next available arrow) or "C" (for the previous available arrow)[customizable, controls menu] while having the bow selected. You will see a small indicator pop-up at the end of the bow's name. This indicator will tell you which arrow type you have selected and whether you have any available arrows of that type or not. The format works like this: {N}, means you have just pressed one of the toggle arrows buttons, and you have selected the normal arrows; [N], means you have that bow set to shoot normal arrows but you don't have any arrows left, or you are not holding that bow right now; (N), means you have the bow selected and you are able to shoot. Additionally there is (*F*) which tells you that you have the flammable arrows selected, you have available arrows, and that you also have flint and steel in your active inventory; making you ready to shoot lit arrows. The toggle order works different depending what game mode you are playing. For survival, the toggle order will depend on how you ordered your arrows in the inventory. (toggle order example: http://i.imgur.com/7vslOaI.png) For creative the toggle order is fixed.[customizable] You can rename the bow if you wish, but please donot use the following characters: ( ) { } [ ]. If the bow is named with something between brackets or parenthesis that is not an initial it will be erased. Initials:(W, F, S, N, G, I, D).
- Retrievability System: An arrow that is retrievable has a chance to not be destroyed after hitting an entity. This chance is calculated by a random generator that outputs a number between 0-100 after hitting an entity. For the diamond arrows, for example, if the number is greater than 80 it will be destroyed, otherwise it will bounce off the entity. Also, if the arrow happened to kill the entity it was attacking it will receive an extra 10% of retrievability chances before generating the random number, giving it more possibilities to survive and it will not bounce off the entity; instead it will fly straight through it (allowing multikills). [max retrievability: 90%]
- Double and Multi Kills: You can perform double and multi kills with any of the retrievable arrows when shooting against hostile entities or other players. If you manage to perform any of them you will get some extra experience orbs for enchantments and other goodies. A message will also pop-up in your client chat informing you that you got a double or a multi kill [the message can be customized or turned off, config file]. As a server owner you also have the ability to turn on a global message for all players to inform that someone got a double or multi kill [customizable, config file].
- Achievements: There are two new achievements introduced with this mod. They are pretty straight forward, one for getting a double kill and another for getting a multi kill.
- Enchantments: All normal enchantments work with the modified bow. However the "infinity" and the "power" enchantment have been modified for the retrievable arrows. Infinity will not give you infinite arrows, instead it will raise the retrievability percentage by 5%. [max retrievability: 90%] And the power enchantment effect has been significantly reduced [about 1/2 the effect of non-retrievable arrows].
- The Flammable Arrow: Very powerful and complex arrow. You can use it to light entities and blocks on fire, or you can shoot it into a wall and use it like a torch (be advised that when lit, they burn out relatively fast). This arrow is not that expensive to craft but you need a flint and steel equipped (in the active inventory) to light it. At the moment you press your right click it will be lit and it will provide some light to your surrounding environment, so you can see what you are shooting at; but it will also damage your flint and steel right away, so no going back. These arrows will also be lit when passing through fire and lava blocks.
- Dispenser: All of the new arrows work with the dispenser. However, the dispenser will not shoot lit flammable arrow. To get this effect you must place your flammable arrows and flint&steel inside of the dispenser. Wait for the dispenser to light the block in front on fire and when your flammable arrows pass through it they will be lit!
The Config file can be found under the config folder inside your minecraft directory. (/Roaming/.minecraft/config/KKSimpleArrowsBase.cfg) Here you can change various things about the mod, and the item IDs too.
There are 6 categories inside the config file: Block IDs, Item IDs, Configuration-Client, Configuration-Client_ADV, Configuration-Server and Configuration-Server_ADV.
- Under the Block IDs and Item IDs categories you will find the default IDs to change them if you need to.
- Under the Configuration-Client category you will find render and chat messages settings:
"Arrow Type Sneak Peek": If true, you will get a sneak peek of a faded texture of the arrow type you just selected after pressing the next or previous arrow key. (Default: false)
"Anounce Client Multi-Kills": If true it will send you a chat message when you perform a double- or a mullti-kill. (Default: true)
"Client Double-Kill Message": Here you can change what the double-kill message will say.
"Client Multi-Kill Message": Here you can change what the multi-kill message will say.
- Under the Configuration-Client_ADV category you will find the order in which you toggle trough the different arrow type (from 0 to 6).
"Survival Fixed Toggle Order": Set this to true if you want to have a fixed toggle order in survival.
"Creative Fixed Toggle Order": Set this to false if you do not want to have a fixed toggle order in creative. *You will need to have arrows in your inventory to be able to select that arrow type.
- Under the Configuration-Server category you will find server double- and multi-kill announcement messages:
"Anounce Server Multi-Kills": If true it will send you a chat message when you perform a double- or a mullti-kill. (Default: false)
"Server Double-Kill Message": Here you can change what the double-kill message will say.
"Server Multi-Kill Message": Here you can change what the multi-kill message will say.
- Under the Configuration-Server_ADV category you will find global render settings:
"Render Active Bow Light": If true; when you are charging the bow with a lit flammable arrow equipped it will light your surroundings. *Could become laggy on a large server if lots of people on a server charge lit flammable arrows at the same time and move around... (Default: true)
"Render Active Arrow Light": If true; lit flammable arrows will produce light when they are in-flight. *This can be stressful for some computers, specially if multiple lit flammable arrows are mid-flight. Therefore default: false. If you have a medium-good computer you should try it! (worst case scenario: some lag)[Not recommended for SMP]. (Default: false)
English:en_US
Español:es_ES, es_ME, es_AR, es_VE, es_UY
[Arrow Type initials will not be translated || W, F, S, N, G, I, D]
*MCP re-compiler will not let me compile special characters (ñ, á, etc.)

*Some features are not explained in these reviews. Please read the "Important Info" and the "Config File" sections above.
Installation Method (does NOT work with the /mod folder installation method!): Install Forge. Drag all the files inside the .zip into your (forge installed) minecraft.jar file. Delete the META-INF folder. Open your Minecraft Launcher, then press Edit Profile (with your desired forge profile selected). Check the JVM Arguments (*at the bottom of the window) and add this into the textbox: " -Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true" (without quotation marks). Hit Save Profile and you are ready to play!
[In most cases your JVM Arguments should end up like this: "-Xmx1G -Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true" (without quotation marks)]
*If you did not understand this horrible explanation please watch this by ThePresidentMoose where he shows how to install Optifine using the exact same method.
To make some effects possible, like telling your client which arrow to render on another person's bow, I had to edit a method inside the ue.class. A few mods out there also modify this class to achieve some effects or something specific for the mod. If you have a mod installed that also modifies the ue.class then simply don't copy the ue.class into your minecraft.jar. The mod will enter "compatibility mode" and some effects will be turned off. If you have already overwritten another mod's ue.class, just re-install the other mod and you should be good to go.
*If you happen to overwrite the ue.class of this mod (with another mod) it will enter compatibility mode automatically.
Downsides:
In SMP, when another player charges the bow you will always see the animation with normal arrow texture. If you happen to be charging an arrow at the same time, you will see your selected arrow texture on their bow too. (sorry, nothing I can do about it).
Sneak Peek option is disabled.
Pros:
Everything else will behave the same as the normal version.
Because the changes happen only at the eyes of the client, you can join servers with the normal version and vice versa.

IMPORTANT!: You need to have the latest version of the Simple Arrows Base Mod installed for this add-on to work!
- If you are updating the mod, please delete the previously generated config file (/Roaming/.minecraft/config/KKSimpleArrowsX1.cfg) before running minecraft so that a new config file [with the new features] can be generated.
This is the first add-on for my Simple Arrows mod. This add-on adds a ton of new arrows (one for every splash potion in the vanilla game!). These new arrows acquire the effects of the splash potion they were crafted with and they will also deal a little damage (wooden arrow damage) when hitting an entity.
Potion Arrows Pros:
Long range engagements
Extra arrow damage
You can carry stacks of up to 64
You can get up to 2 Potion Arrows per Splash Potion!
Potion Arrows Cons:
No splash damage/effects! (just direct hits)
Positive/Health potion arrows will still deal damage when colliding
Takes longer to shoot them
Not intended for self-use
- Potion Arrow Recipe (Shapeless, works with every splash potion in the vanilla game)
Enchantments: The "infinity" enchantment is disabled for these arrows.
The Config file can be found under the config folder inside your minecraft directory.(/Roaming/.minecraft/config/KKSimpleArrowsX1.cfg) Here you can change various things about the mod, and the item IDs too. There are 3 categories inside the config file: Item IDs, Configuration_Add-On Configuration and Configuration-Client_ADV.
- Under the Item IDs category you will find the default IDs, you can change them if you need to.
- Under the Configuration_Add-On category you can activate and de-activate this add-on. Useful when you are planning to join a server that does not have this add-on.
- Under the Configuration-Client_ADV category you will find the order in which you toggle trough the different arrow types (from 0 to 17)

Wow awesome! But I think it would be much cooler if you could shoot all arrows with the normal bow
I don't want to do that because I would have to overwrite the original bow, but I could make the new bow shoot the original arrows. Do you want me to do that? Or do you have another suggestion?

Yea that would be good too! It just seems annoying to me to always switch the bows if I wanna schoot my normal arrows....hmm and no other suggestions at the moment...
Yea that would be good too! It just seems annoying to me to always switch the bows if I wanna schoot my normal arrows....hmm and no other suggestions at the moment...
OK, I will try to do that.... Any suggestion on how to change the firing mode to the original arrows??? I can not make it work by right clicking the original arrows, since I don't want to change the original arrow files...
[Update]
I have already modified the bow to shoot the original arrows and it works fine. Now when you take out your bow for the first time it will be set to shoot the original arrows, if you want to shoot another type of arrows you just have to select the arrow you want to shoot from your inventory and right click it; if you want to change back to the original arrows you just have to right click the arrow you are currently shooting again to deselect it....
Sorry for my complicated ideas! =p If someone has a better idea please let me know! Tnx
This is awesome! Now can u make special arrows that can only be shot by a respective bow. Like a poison arrow that used spider eyes and a stone arrow for example. This might poison an entity like the cave spider, but this arrow would only be shot by like a poison bow. And you could add like ice bows/arrows and lightning, explosive, ones that push you back, ones that set you on fire, ones that make you loss hunger (just thinking out loud here) but i think that would be really cool. And u could make it an addon that was optional.
Like poison bows could be make of bones and string, fire bows could be made of blaze rods and string, you could make ice rods(make of 2 ice-> 4 ice rods (like wood to sticks)) and the ice bow would be ice rods and string. But some special arrows should be able to be fired from the wooden(the not as good arrows) like the knock back arrow(might be made from with piston).
And SMP would be awesome
And name the wooden bow a LongBow because that sounds cooler and makes more sense

Great ideas!!! I will consider some of them, but maybe as an add-on because they would be too overpowered for survival. I am going to run some test for the poison bow/arrows. And don't worry, SMP may be comming in the future!!!
hey this is a cool mod. i think this should be in the game normally because different arrows would be sweet. i made a mod spotlight for you to add to the main post to hopefully get you more downloads

lol thanks anyways, btw you can not select the regular arrows like the other ones, because I would have to change some of the original game files. When you first take out your wooden bow it will be set to fire the original arrows. If you want to change back to the stock arrows you have to right click again the arrows you are currently using to deselect it.

Review by: TheNedGamer
You need: MC 1.6.2, Forge 9.10.0 --> http://www.minecraft...ic,10075.0.html and KK's Simple Arrows Base Mod v1.1.05
Universal (SSP/SMP[LAN/DS]):
(Mediafire)

- Potion Arrow Recipe
(Shapeless, works with every splash potion in the vanilla game)
Damage Multipliers:
= *0.50 (no critical hits) **Every Potion Arrow
= *1.0 [Original Arrows]
- Under the Configuration-Client_ADV category you will find the order in which you toggle trough the different arrow types (from 0 to 17)
*MCP re-compiler will not let me compile special characters (ñ, á, etc.)

So it doesn't overwrites the original, you can still make the original bow if you want to shoot the original arrows....
Thanks for replying!!!! =D
Tnx
The new version will include this changes:
A wooden arrow? That would be cool!!! I will give it a thought and will post here later if I decide to implement it. Tnx for the support!
Wow!!! Thank you so much!!! You're awesome!!!! Please keep spreading the word and remember that I will continue updating the mod and ading new features every time I can!!!
no problem. a lot of times videos in the main post will help a lot for both of us. i get views you get downloads and it works well lol
lol thanks anyways, btw you can not select the regular arrows like the other ones, because I would have to change some of the original game files. When you first take out your wooden bow it will be set to fire the original arrows. If you want to change back to the stock arrows you have to right click again the arrows you are currently using to deselect it.
Do you have the latest version of Minecraft? Did you download the client version of Forge v3.3.7.135?
Yes. I get to the Mojang part then the screen turns black. I deleted META-INF. It goes black when I install Forge.
