I've tried some values with the wooden arrow... How many shots to kill do you think would be balanced?
Edit: I think I have some values for wooden arrows... 0.25 = 11 shots!!!, 0.33 = 10 shots, 0.5 = 7 shots. I think I focused all my attention on retrievable arrows and did not noticed how unbalanced this is... sorry! I think 7 shots should be ok. What do you think?

Yeah I was starting to think .5 wood and .75 stone myself. I didn't feel good last night and I threw up this morning, no fun. Maybe the bow can be re-textured with colors from other diamond items, for now.

These are the required arrows to kill a zombie with every arrow type (with the new values): wooden/flammable: 7; stone: 4, normal: 3, golden:2-3, iron: 2, diamond: 2.

Edit: creepers die with just 3 stone arrows... I think x0.66 would be the appropriated damage to make this arrow weaker than flint arrows.
Sounds good! If the arrows give most of the damage do you think the bows should give most of the retrieve %s with small variations on the arrows?
Hmmm.. I dont know... I dont think wooden and stone arrows need to be retrievable, they are so cheap most people will just leave them behind. Or maybe a nice feature for the fast bow is that all the other arrows become retrievable but with 0% starting retrievability. They would just benefit from the +10% kill bonus. Hmmm but I would have to modify the normal arrow class to make them retrievable... compatibility --. ... though one...
you could always have the diamond bow only go up to 50% then the crap arrows won't get that big of a boost and why use them if you got diamonds and iron. I was thinking that people need an incentive to get the good bows.

I was reading through the last page or two and I saw that your discussing different bow types. For the different velocities could you make the higher velocity bow would require less distance (aiming) compensation, while the low velocity bows require more distance compensation?
Ender arrows would be cool as well, teleporting directly to the spot your targeting (super speed, very little compensation, & as tough as iron or normal arrows.)
I am an ok texture if you need a little help. About the long bow problem you could make the render (in your hand) larger like in Balkon's weapon Mod. That would not fix the texture issue but it would make it more realistic.
