This is awesome, it really makes fishing interesting, I never done it before and now I want to collect all the species.
Are you planning to add a fish tank? It would be nice to have a way to display the fishes you are collecting.
I would like to eventually, just gotta figure out how.

I have to use MagicLauncher due to 7Zip & WinRar not working. And I can't figure out how to add Forge to it.
Note: I added a suggestion to my last post.
I want to add the Coelacanth, even if its solely for the sake of having it, I'm going to toy around with a few ideas for it before implementation though.

So from looking at this video and your screenshots, these fish are not actually swimming around in the water, I take it? So I can't make an aquarium with what I catch?
The fish aren't swimming around, such a thing would require adding more entities, which prevent multiplayer (or at least make it stupid difficult).
However I may do something akin to Crystal Chests eventually (if I can figure out how) where you have a Fish Tank block that you can place Fish in and they show up inside it so you can see them.

I am not a modder, so correct me if I'm wrong - isn't the merge of single- and multiplayer engines going to eliminate that problem, or are all mods that add more entities going to be screwed? I am assuming that you are following what's going on behind the scenes more closely as a modder...
Actually that's the same question I've had, a lot of the internal code is shifting lately, so maybe it'll remove that annoyance so we'll code entities and the engine will accept them properly, but I could be wrong and we could just be screwed.

Sorry guys its been a busy day at work so I haven't had time for any new artwork.
Some things I'm looking at for the future:
-Code to determine what biome your character is in, so you can fish up different fish in different areas
-Code to determine which pole you're using, so you can have better chances with better poles.
-Code to determine the shade of darkness/rain status, so you can catch fish faster/better if you are fishing at night or in storms/thunderstorms.

What he's saying is that F3 displays a variable for the biome, as well as your location. I highlighted it in red in the spoilers.
Also, I featured your mod in my Let's Play in the beginning of Episode 6 (not up yet) but couldn't catch anything, so I'll be revisiting it in Episode 7. I'll post it here if you don't mind :]

Its just finding the code to call the player's biome that's a pain but that F3 bit will help when people are fishing ingame trying to find where to stand.

Really right now its pretty basic, I'm not going to lie and say that the coding for this was drastically hard, it wasn't, it was mostly just learning, and artwork lol

Welp workflow stifled any hopes of new artwork, I thought I'd get it all done fast enough but guess not.
When I get home I'm going to be coding a little to try to get that biome bit working. I might try to get Lockboxes in too.

You should make shark and tuna have different fillets then the plain fish fillet (shark steak, tuna steak) that heals more hearts. Just saying irl, they are a much heartier fish than bluegill (trust me, I'm a fisherman)
You should work with the Fishing++ guy. I have both of you guys' mods installed and they work beautifully together (at least with forge).
Also, what does the squid and the tin can do? They are both a little awkward taking up inventory space :/
Other than that, GREAT JOB on the mod! I LOVE the textures for Neptunium tools and armor, even though they are THE HARDEST thing to catch!
Coelacanth is one I want to add, but its not really an eating fish lol
They're not in yet, artwork was added.
