Welcome to Aquaculture! An expansion of Minecraft's fishing system. For those that know me, you know I'm the creator of Metallurgy, another expansion mod that greatly enhanced the mining system in Minecraft. Well Aquaculture is my attempt to do the same for the bland fishing system.
In Aquaculture you never know what you'll catch. Every biome is home to tons of unique fish you can only catch in that biome, and there's a myriad of new loot items you can randomly catch while fishing.
All of this is made possible by simply crafting the Iron Fishing Rod.
The Iron Fishing Rod
This new shiny addition is a gateway to your journey into Aquaculture! Simply crafting it will enable all the features of the mod. By using a new fishing rod, I was able to avoid making base class edits ot the game which would severely harm any compatibility with other mods as well as ceaselessly complicating multiplayer/updates.
There are plans for new and better fishing rods that will increase your chances to get cooler loot while fishing (Gold, Diamond, and Neptunium are all planned!)
The Fishables
Ah yes the part you've all been waiting for, Aquaculture's 32+ new fish and 12+ fishable loot items!
For the mostpart Aquaculture sticks to realism, the new fish are (mostly) real species that have been translated into Minecraft.
(Red colored fish are not yet implemented but are planned)
Mushroom (Mushroom Island)
- Red Shrooma
- Brown Shrooma
Random Loot! (Found everywhere!)
-Seaweed/Algae [Edible!]
-Stick
-Driftwood [Crafts into Planks!]
-Leather Boots
-Tin Can
-Bone
-Message in a Bottle [Right click to reveal a message!]
-Box
-Lockbox
-Treasure Chest [These three all contain random loot!]
-Goldfish [Crafts into Gold Nuggets!]
-Neptune's Bounty
Note: If you are using a mod that adds new biomes or are fishing in a biome that doesn't have specific fish, it will default to Freshwater Fish, meaning technically this mod is compatible with any other Biome adding mod there is!
Recipes
Driftwood + Workbench = 4 Planks
2 Iron + Stick + 2 String + Workbench = Iron Fishing Rod
(Any Fish) + Workbench = Raw Fish Fillet
Raw Fish Fillet + Furnace = Cooked Fish Fillet (Restores 2.5 marks of Hunger)
Squid + Workbench = Ink Sac
Whale + Workbench = 5x Whale Steaks
Whale Steak + Furnace = Cooked Whale Steaks
Goldfish + Workbench = Gold Nugget
Boot + Workbench = Leather
Tin Can + Furnace = Iron Bar
Enchants
Efficiency - Fish bite more often
Appealing - Catch more fish
Magnetic - Catch more loot
Unbreaking - Chance not to consume durability on cast
Longcast - Fishing Rod casts farther
Shortcast - Fishing Rod casts closer
Double Hook - Chance to catch two fish instead of one
Barbed Hook - Catch window is longer
Heavy Line - Higher chance to higher weight
-The Fishing Line doesn't always show up
-The Fishing Rod is inverted oddly
-In SMP the fishing rod sometimes "bounces" when you cast, making the noise of a fish biting, just ignore the first few.

Wow! I've never seen anyone make a mod for fishing yet! BTW it looks AWESOME! I would expect so, from the maker of one of my favorite other mods, Metallurgy!
What kinds of new fish would people want to see in the future?
I considered Puffer Fish, Lobsters, Crabs, Frogs, Squid (Turn into Ink Sacs) some other crazy stuff.
Never thought about fishing before til I saw this mod.I think I just found a new hobby after long days of mining in the caves. Now all I need is some rockin tunes and an ice cold beer lol. do the fish swim around or are they like the mind craft fish that you don't see till you catch it and those are some good ideas for new additions but of course lobsters and crabs would need a cage to catch them.
support between this mod and metallurgy? just a thought.
Originally this mod was designed to be part of Metallurgy, I decided to separate the two. Right now Metallurgy isn't up to 1.2.5, so therefor no support is possible.
Eventually I might do it, but its not high on my priority list (support that is).
You can run both together however.

How about eels? Electric eels are also an idea and could even harm you when you "loot" them, but normal (i.e. real) eels are fine. Always wanted to fish for eels in Minecraft.

Eels and Electric Eels are both on the list for potential biome fish. Eels are actually Eels and tend to be saltwater, Electric Eels aren't Eels but are found throughout the Amazon.

like to see more random loot to be fished up, like a master rod that has a massively low spawn rate but is much better then other rods. Or in reference to Zelda a diving scale that would let you hold yor breath for longer

I contemplated trying to do a diving helmet later, eventually Gold/Diamond rods will give better loot drops, and you can fish up Neptunium Bars to make Neptunium Tools/Armor (eventually a fishing rod too).
I do agree though, I'm still coming up with stuff. I'll probably add a Lockbox or something that you can fish up, open, and it'll throw out a random item (Iron/Gold Bars, Diamond, etc. random good loot).

What would be pretty cool in my opinion is to eventually have fly rods than can only be used in the river biomes. You could probably have the rivers full of a bunch of trout species pretty easily.
You could also add a creel that holds all the caught fish.
For fish, my suggestions in no particular order: Snapper, Flounder, Redfish, Pike, Sturgeon, Tarpon.

Eventually there will be a Gold/Diamond fishing pole set that will have a small bonus to loot rolls.

Try Aberrant Tools: http://www.minecraft...ith-cool-traps/ It lets you build retractable bridges, lightning traps and more.
Sorry for the bad English...
This was planned just trying to figure out how to work it in the code.
