If R isn't working, make sure that you have spawn animals on in config and then check that the keybind is correctly assigned in options
The pixelmon version I'm playing on a 1.8.9 modpack erases pixelmon very recently caught, and healing hurt pixelmon when logging out and back in. Guess I need to afk for an hour before that info is saved or something...?

every time i try to play 1.8.9 with this mod installed, it gets stuck on this screen: http://imgur.com/fdv9n6J
i've seen other people having this problem too, but i haven't found a way to fix it. other 1.8.9 mods work, but not this one :\
We're having the same exact issue. Running 1.8.9 with the version of Forge linked to by the Pixelmon site, running Pixelmon 4.2.7.
We didn't use the Pixelmon launcher, though, we just installed Forge for 1.8.9, made a profile to load it, put the Pixelmon .jar in our mods folder and started it up. Stuck on the same screen as you. Except we're stuck at 9/22 in "Reloading - ModelManager", not 10.
Do we *need* to use the Pixelmon launcher for this to work? I assume it doesn't matter since it looks like you're using it and it's still stuck.

i tried it with and without the launcher, and it doesn't work either way.
Using Mojang's launcher press "edit profile", tick the box at the bottom for "JVM arguments" and change the -Xmx to be -Xmx2G, press "save profile" and you are good to go
if you are using the Pixelmon launcher click the gear icon in the top right and drag the slider for "max memory" to 2048

every time I make a new world the game crashes. when I sent out my pokemon the game crashes. when I played a world that already existed, guess what happens. the game freezes then unfreezes until I have to force the game to close. But the world I played on that already existed has a bunch of mods on it that are incompatible so it doesn't really matter.
Darnit, the database is encrypted or at least unrecognizable to my programs. I just want a way to give pokemon the option to use moves they don't naturally learn, is that so bad >M<

it's not encrypted or even password protected, all you need is an SQL editor with h2 support, eg H2 or SquirrelDB
So i have this problem where i launch the game and its loading up but gets stuck at this part
It stays like that for hours until i just close it.
Mine is similar it stops on the "9/22" and then after a long while had this crash. Also I am using 1.8

Any reason the R key would not work? Latest version of Pixelmon with the recommended version of Forge.
No other mods installed that are in the official conflicts list.
3.5.1 - 1.7.10 - Recommended

i tried it with and without the launcher, and it doesn't work either way.
You need to assign 2GB of RAM to play, if you have a 32-bit OS then you can load vanilla Pixelmon by using the maximum possible for 32-bit of 1200MB
oh ok, how would i do that?
Using Mojang's launcher press "edit profile", tick the box at the bottom for "JVM arguments" and change the -Xmx to be -Xmx2G, press "save profile" and you are good to go
if you are using the Pixelmon launcher click the gear icon in the top right and drag the slider for "max memory" to 2048
it worked, thanks a lot man!
