That looks like a server insallation problem from previous versions of the prerelease
install forge before the player api in the server and put the zip file installed into the mods file(test before doing so)
(by the way although forge has universal downloads it still has no bukkit port built in (so if your using bukkit. that's the problem))
On another note ive got the mechanics of the racks done(the positioning is a bit high still)
This is after adjusting the position
heres use in a smithy
Prerelease has updated to include weapon racks now
crafted with a H of planks(the things used in forging) like a ladder

nice!once that positioning is fixed,it will be killer!

well i wont be able to see what the problem is considiering the errors are in the NEI files
well i wont be able to see what the problem is considiering the errors are in the NEI files
Figured as much, just wasn't sure if you knew your code had any lines for stuff such as "brewing recipe handler" that weren't finished so could be accessed by NEI and was getting screwed up since the code on your end would be incomplete, seeing as it's an Alpha release. If I manage to hear back from the NEI thread I'll let you know.
Loving the new armor components! Only tried making the new stuff based on the recipes you gave, seems everything is in order. Still need to play around with it more, but seems i was able to hammer out everything pretty fast. Not sure if components will be quicker to make or if you're still tweaking the hit rates.
The new features for the forge are neat- I surrounded it on three sides with lava and it smelted everything pretty fast.
Only goofy thing I can point out right now is that when I went in water to make salt and cured hide I would get the item placed in my inventory, but there was also an icon of the item that would pop out of me into the water that was uncollectable.
yeh i fixed the salt duplication:
im also going to remake the plate recipes since their shape doesnt really replicate plate well(by making the recipes like defailt with padded plate and then putting plates over the outside(like it is now) but without the leather and belts incluided
on the NEI crash file it mentions the class and line numbers the errors occured on. so if chickenbones looked at those specific areas: and the actual ecxeption. then theyd be an explanation
and with the common use of leather: cow hide now makes 3 leather
and you can kill hounds for hound pelts - each yielding 2 leather
on the NEI crash file it mentions the class and line numbers the errors occured on. so if chickenbones looked at those specific areas: and the actual ecxeption. then theyd be an explanation.
I'm sure he could fix the problem, my worry is more about him seeing my specific crash report. Mine is unlike any I've seen from NEI and a lot of people tend to post a crash report of something that's already been reported, so his thread gets clogged with 20 crash reports from different people of the same crash, and my report is somewhere in the middle of all that. I'll give a heads-up in this thread if I get any definitive answers or if NEI updates fix the issue.
Part of the reason I hope this gets resolved soonish is because I was considering putting in a request in the request/suggestions forum asking someone to consider making an NEI plugin for your mod to show all your anvil crafting recipes.
I used to be very hesitant about using NEI, but once I realized there was a recipe mode that only shows recipes and doesn't have cheat functions, I found it quite impressive. People can create NEI plugins to show recipes for mods that have special machines that have recipes specific to those machines. As your mod continues to grow and more stuff gets crafted on the anvil (like the awesome new armor pieces) it would be nice to possibly have readily accessible anvil recipe info in-game!
well if that were to happen: id also want to see the ability to exclude some recipes from the list(like when i add secret recipes). so when their added i know that theyd be hidden(however im not sure on how to stop those damn inventory hacks)
well if that were to happen: id also want to see the ability to exclude some recipes from the list(like when i add secret recipes). so when their added i know that theyd be hidden(however im not sure on how to stop those damn inventory hacks)
You'd probably be able to code it so those recipes stay hidden. I've seen it done before so I'm sure you can manage to figure that out. In the end, if people want to cheat to make the game easy, oh well.
i did follow the install show, but still black screen ****!
Why
My ESP skills are currently malfunctioning, so I am unable to take a look at your computer remotely to identify the issue... However, if you post your crash reports we'll be happy to help you figure out what's up.
My best guess for a black screen is to make sure you deleted the META-INF file from your minecraft jar.
You'll be able to find your crash report somewhere in your .minecraft folder. I believe with the new FML it's:
%appdata% --> Roaming --> .minecraft --> crash-reports
I haven't used that method of posting my crashes yet, so it could be wrong. If it is, Google it to find out how to get a crash report and how to post it.
And please, post the report in spoilers like this:
well the idea for the hidden recipes is so people actually earn something from looking, so if they find how to legitemeately make them, then theyd be known in servers as these special smiths. and also selected people maybe could be added to a list to be able to make things. if people just hack the items in then whats the point on adding special new tiers

That's easy to answer. Your fears of hacking and cheating in servers is actually minimal. With how servers work, the server admins control the conditions. It's pretty easy to make it so nothing can be hacked into the game unless it's a server admin. Simply means you need a good, trusted server admin. I was invited onto a server recently that I played on for quite a bit and the admin was absolutely awesome. The whole experience really warmed me up to the potential of honest, non-griefing SMP play. It's all about the people.
What would be neat is possibly considering ownership of certain recipes a requirement to unlock crafting. I know you mentioned you were hoping to do something like this. You could make it so that there are X number of each recipe available throughout the world. The idea is that everyone would probably find certain recipes, but if player A has recipe X and player B has recipe Y and you need to know both to make a complete Sword Z, then they have options. Will they share the recipe with each other so it's unlocked for both of them? Will they instead each make their respective parts, then barter the parts between each other to get the items for themselves, then set up special blacksmith shops like you mentioned?
As for hacking/cheating in a solo game, well, you know my thoughts on this: if it's a single person's experience, I won't begrudge them for playing how they want to play, even if that is what I would never do in terms of hacking in items and cheating. It's SMP/LAN play that it really becomes a honest/integrity/oversight issue.
I agree though, there's a lot of fun potential in keeping recipes permanently hidden until they're unlocked in a specific manner! Best of luck as you unravel trying to figure out how to code it so you can pull it off like you want.

Not sure what's up so I'm posting in both threads. NEI works with all my other normal mods just fine, likewise for MineFantasy, but these two aren't playing nice when together.
read down the post: ive fixed the positioning: and released them
well i wont be able to see what the problem is considiering the errors are in the NEI files

EDIT:
Everything seems fine in my own world with the hounds. Spawned a bunch and gave them commands, fed them, etc.
The hound puppies are adorable!
Still got the NEI crash though. Pretty sure it's on NEI's end, so hopefully it'll get resolved in a future update of NEI.
and with the common use of leather: cow hide now makes 3 leather

?Uhh- it's crashing. I installed a couple times. The only other mod is REI minimap.
My guess is it might be Forge (?) I had 280- now its already 282
Should it work with 282- or do I need a previous version? In the meantime I'll try taking off REI
