Hi I am gonna give this mod a go and see how good it is.Looks fantastic. How about for a name "The Dark Ages of Minecraft" or "Fantasy of Knights" or "Dragon Knights" or "Magesty and Might" or "The Age of Majesty" or "Dark Knights of Minecraft"
names are abit long, most mods are best made of a single word. some dont..
actually i just looked at the installation, I know that part! I need to know how to install the mod itself
well when the terminal creates the "mctemp" file, look for the downloaded medieval mod file. and inside that file is the mod, move those files (mod_medieval, AP_Data, and AP_Imags, files into the mctemp)
This mod is incredibly great. But how should we get the chain armor? With the new chain item, or... ?
I also have a suggestion for you!
Testificates
Should the small houses in testificates villages be made of mud bricks, so it will look peasant's regular. Also, the blacksmiths could have your forges AND made of cobblestone bricks, to look more smith-ish.
Whenever you're done making your villages (I know you will make custom villages) you can make them be enemy with Testificates. They wouldn't spawn near each other though - should them be very far, as two hundred blocks away.
However, a young testificate will walk way too far and call your villagers' attention. They will seek the testificate, and create a war. How are they going to fight? You can arm the testificates with spears, fishing rods, swords, I don't know, and viceversa. But create a war within villages would be GREAT!
Your Village
They should be same as testificates, however they are ready to defend, the knights? with armour? and big granite walls ready to resist an attack. Can you make assassins and robbers, as well war between kingdoms - of course, it'll take many time until you reach this, but who knows?
yeh i was going to change villages in that way, by using lanterns forges and new blocks later, but basefile editing isnt usually a good idea
wait. is it incompatible with battlegear beacuse the renderPlayer class? if thats the case, install renderhooks after battlegear (since it remotely overrides the class (extending the old one) that might work
edit: i think medieval mod is a good name for the mod, i think a lot of people are looking for medieval mods and when they Google minecraft medieval mod guess what will come up? this mod!

BattleGear doesn't edit any base classes, it uses player api..? Also you have to put it in the mods folder not the jar.
because the mod has more than blacksmith. right now im adding enchanting runes. its more of a "themed" mod, rather than having 1 element(like smithing) its a mod arround an entire theme(fantasy medieval)
as for the magic essence, the anvil and forge provide some pretty cool possibilities. you could add a new ore, say arcanium or some other cheesy name, and depending on how you forge it, it would create different runes and effects. or use a mix of different common ingredients and a blank rune to charge the rune.
i found that the dust mod, while complicated, is a pretty cool way of using runes. so you could have a runeforge in the center with ground arcanium forming a runic pattern. depending on the size and extent of the pattern, you could have some seriously powerful enchants.
as for actually getting the 'magic essence' maybe add a new enchant from an enchanting table like the soul trap from skyrim, that allows the player to suck in the souls of defeated enemies into a handy soul pouch or crystal. the soul could then be formed in a forge into a crystal, then ground on an anvil to create soul dust, which could then be used in any of the ways above to create a rune. if you do the magic this way, then the player can recharge their weaponry and enchants by killing stuffs, or not if you so choose.
if you need a texture artist, i'd be more than happy to help.
well arcanium.. or whatever seems like a decent ore name maybe, it could either exist abunantly in small groups or uncommon in massive veins. and the runeforge as a new block seems interesting, where they have to be ingraved with the block. i was going to add essences, essence of magic, essence of wind, essence of water,... ***fire.. ***wind *** earth *** death soul essence. nature.. etc.. and the runes would have been applied anywhere in hand OR using a new block(or runeforge) to then solder the blocks on, being just about as expensive as the enchanting table, but rather than using experiance and randomised effects, you have a set effect and ingreedients
and for the specific essences, add elemental mobs that are somewhat rare and hard to kill, but drop several essences. i don't really get what you mean with the 'solder the blocks on.'
Really good man! But, actually, will be good if you make the same with diamonds, the iron and steel forged items are really useful, and I really will like if to the same with diamonds .
yeh its going to be a rune as an item, to augment tools, not a dust to make a shape. though maybe rituals and summonings could have something like that.

diamonds, diamonds... you people!.
Nah. naught medieval or fantasy had diamond weapons and stuff.
though there IS diamond dust; an ingreedient im making to take part in magical essence crafting.
just a substitute for "Zyrridium" dust, a new ore. came up with the name on the spot. that is used to make magic
and hang on.. wait.. how exactly can one heat up.. and forge a diamond.....
Well If I know my facts right, diamonds are the product of millions of years of heat and pressure on coal. Or I am wrong and an idiot :3
Anyway, nice to see you got a name to this. I hope it works well for this!
And im starting to implement the enchanting runes now, each rune has an enchantment per item. if anyone has an idea on what rune goes to what enchantment, that could speed things up a bit
