Hi. Im playing with the 1.8.5 test version but im a bit lost on what to do. I tried searching this post for more informantion, but found nothing in particular. Also i checked the changelogs but it only dates to 1.8.4. So if someone could point me out to where i can find the info i would be gratefull.
hey ap, would it be possible to post some images of the new recipes in 8.5? i know how to make mithril, but I'm not sure how to make dragonforge nor does it seem like i can make a mithril splint.

well most of the stuff is to experiment when you get iron/steel
so basically. get to bronze(either hardcore crafting or vanilla style) use bronze to get iron, smelt iron... make bronze bloomery for pure iron.. make blast furnace, get steel,

yeh.. but not posting them until a standard release
Ok i found out why i was stuck. Because the copper was taking so long to mine with the stone pick i thought you needed another tool to mine it. Silly me. And yeah i was in the hardcore crafting.
Ehm..i'm sorry if i haven't express that clearly:
I meant that torches are valuable in terms of using coal in the crafting recipe. Coal isn't that easy to collect in the beginning (especially hardcore crafting and no copper around and no furnace for charcoal^^"). Then is coal is more needed for smelting and cooking.
If you don't have a furnace for charcoal, where are you smelting and cooking with your coal? :\
Besides, haven't you figured out yet that MineFantasy planks are the best fuel? Using coal/charcoal to smelt charcoal gets you 56 food/ore smelts per 8 logs. 128 MineFantasy planks can be crafted from 8 logs, giving you 128 smelts. I save all my coal for blooms, forges, and blast furnaces.
Okay, I hate to keep going on and on about the same thing, but this is just ridiculous. I'm playing 1.8.5 now, I had to kill 9 cows to get my first two tendons, and I've crafted 4 spears since then. Every single spear broke before I was able to get 2 more tendons, putting me back at the sharp rock stabbing stage.
Perhaps a crafting recipe to turn (raw) beef/pork into a tendon? Sacrificing food for tools is a choice I'd be willing to make right now, considering I'm weighed down by all this steak and can't make a pickaxe.
Also, the config setting for dry rocks isn't doing anything. I set it to 1 (100%) for testing and then proceeded to watch myself destroy 3 dry rocks before I was able to start a fire. I did finally get a torch, though, so no more dry rocks for me in this world at least.
heres an idea: an npc village building with a stone bloom, a bronze anvil, a forge, a water cauldron, and some furnaces, along with a villager that can trade emeralds for bronze and stuffs

I think there's a great deal of luck (good or bad) from small sample sizes thus far. On my latest world, I've got 16 tendons to spare after making all the primitive tools and primitive hide. But I've killed well over a dozen animals to get that far. I've been using animals as a food source while wandering around hunting for copper... not sure if it's even spawning and I'm just in the wrong places. I've found lots of coal, iron, HarvestCraft salt ore, Thaumcraft crystals and amber, and Applied Energistics quartz. Between hillsides, stone quarries, and as far as I've dared venture into caves with such a limited food supply, so far no copper. I'm enjoying my life as a wanderer, though!
Now if the stinking spiders would give me some string so I could make a siv... ಠ_ಠ
I've been testing for a while now, and drake, small dragon, large dragon, and Minotaur eggs definitely don't work. All other vanilla and minefantasy eggs work fine. The problem persisted when I removed all other mods as well. Mithril splints also can't be crafted, and I've searched multiple areas, and copper really doesn't happen. I barely found any tin, no copper, but I found granite and
Imestone and both types of trees. I even found diamond. I also looked for mobs, and found no minefantasy mobs at all, even in hard difficulty. Not even hounds or skeletal knights. Also, I know ingot unite generates, because I heard it, and I'd also like to add that I was exploring and mining for A very long time, so I don't think it was just bad luck
1: You weren't on peaceful were you?
2: Ill look into the splintmail thing
3: Yeh, the copper is spawning, but i seem to have placed a random chance twice(meaning it's real uncommon, the whole worldgen is in for a rewrite)
4: Granite spawns? that's good, thought it didnt
5: as for the mobs. distance and rarity. hounds are less common as you know, I might make minotaurs more common, knights maybe abit more too.

Thanks.
Well...Does it work now?
Yeh, I'm going to make default world gen like vanilla worldgen(meaning every chunk is the same). and add hardcore ores with the varied chunks later on
hm, in testing, I got 15 from 4 cows...
rocks thing is odd. id have to check that
not sure how to add NPC huts
hm.. the text doesn't stick out much.

All this time I've been looking for copper, it really wasn't there‽
Edit: Well then, back to 1.8.4 with me for now, I suppose. >_>

I just don't know what to do.
