In the Year of 1337, an apocalypse hit Minecraftia. The sky became dark, the grass died away, forest fires became rampant, and the rivers ran dry. The only ones left alive are the creatures of the night, and one human, trying to survive.
I forgot to attach some things to the Addon, which resulted in no charged creepers, and those mutants SPAWNED LIKE MADMEN!!! So I have attached a NEWER Download, with an EDITABLE CONFIG FILE!! YES, I am giving YOU the power to change the spawn rates, the min and max amounts of the mobs that spawn, aswell as the option to change the ID of the items and Blocks(Only do this if you know what your doing, If something goes wrong, change it back to it's default). It will be availeble lower down in the addon section!!
Another thing is that this post seems to continually change back to BB-Code, which REALLY PISSES ME OFF!!! That ends up with me having to clean up hte post and WASTE MORE OF MY TIME!!!
Because of this, most of the images have been temporarily removed, and because of my internet(which is lagging like a b****) I can't post photos of the addon mod.
But I WILL post pictures of my Addon mod in 2 days(when my internet gets recharged!).

I was supposed to have released a newer update if the wasteland mod with the option at the create world screen to whether or not you want yor world to be Vanilla, Flat or Wasteland. Unfortunately, this ended disastrously, with the code spazzing out into all these different threads! I was really dissapointed and angry, but hey, what are you going to do?
I will try to finish that project off, but for now, here is something that should've cone out a LONG time ago!
The Minecraft Wasteland Addon (BETA/WIP)
This is the extra patch that brings you Explosives, More mobs and some surprises! This does include fixes like the infinite string, and has some handy new features and challenges like a foldable tent(that folds right back in!), scrap metal to overcome the lower rates of iron/gold and some survivors who kill all mobs!

But many of you want this mod compatible with Minecraft 1.2.5, and so I COMPLETELY recoded it for Minecraft 1.2.5. The SSP(Survival Single Player) version of the mod is out,
And so is the SMP version.
If ANYONE has some cool ruins which you think should be added to the mod (either in the main or the BETA patch) then PM me the download (IF you are the creator) or send me the link (if you now some cool ruins). Best if they are in Schematics form, otherwise HIGH chance (90%/80%) that I won't include it(UNLESS they are pretty KICK-ASS!!).
Stuff that last bit, because of the MAGIC OF SPC(Single Player Commands), JUST SEND ME THE AWESOME FALLOUT/POST-APOCALYPTIC DOWNLOADS!!!
Basically this mod is an edit to the original terrain generation. It generates a fallout/wasteland/apocalypse themed map. This includes:
-No more grass.
All of the grass blocks in the world are replaced with dirt, all the tall grass has turned into dead shrubs. Shrubs now also grow on dirt. Yes, this means no more passive mobs spawn. I'm looking into ways for you to get the passive mob loot. Maybe through dungeons?
-Changes to trees.
Trees have a much lower spawn rate. If a tree does spawn it is more likely to be a big tree then a little tree, and it will have no leaves at all(Unless its at an Oasis, see below). See how long your wood supplies last when you can't grow trees.
-No pumpkins, reeds, or flowers.
Pretty self-explanatory. They don't spawn anymore.
-No oceans.
No more giant oceans of water for unlimited water supplies. You can however get water from little springs (moving water).
-Changed sky color.
The sky is now a darker red-ish color. -Randomised Oasis! <--- Probably doesn't spawn!
They say that you must bear the worst of the storm to find the eye. These Oasis are located in deserts, and are small 4x4 squares of grass with a tree, water, and some randomised tall grass and flowers. Use these to help you survive!
-New ruined houses
Now there is a random chance of a ruined house spawning in the world. Think of it as a dungeon with less loot and no spawner. These are completely random and contain things to help you survive.
-Modified dungeons <--- Apparently not modified!
Dungeons have been modified to act more like fallout shelters. Things like saplings, buckets of water, and planks have been added to the chests. There are also naturally occuring beds inside next to the spawner. (*Underlined things represent items that you can't get anywhere else*)

Wasteland Addon installation!
Firstly, it is required that the normal wasteland mod works before going through this one, then:
1. Make a backup of your current minecraft.jar AND worlds! This is imperative, do NOT forget to backup your JAR AND WORLDS! (In a separate folder of course!)
2. Drag and drop the files from the zip/rar into your minecraft.jar!
3. Beware of the CHARGED CREEPERS and hurl those explosives as if they are on FIRE!
INSTALLATION
Single Player
Wasteland mod version 1.3.1 seems to not work when you put the zip version into the mods folder....
Installing:
Surival Singleplayer (If you install it, with a clean jar, and it doesn't work, switch steps 4 and 5):
1. Navigate to your .minecraft folder. For me its at: c:\users\<myusername>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft.
2. Open up your bin folder.
3. Open up the minecraft.jar using a program like winrar.
4. Drag the .class files inside of the Wasteland folder into your minecraft.jar
5. Install Mod-loader.
6. Delete the META-INF folder inside the minecraft.jar
7. Launch Minecraft and start a new world(or use an old one if you want all new chunks that are generated to be wasteland).
Installing with MCPATCHER(IF it doesn't work the first time):
1. FRESH JAR!!!
2. Patch it with MCPatcher.
3. Go into the minecraft.jar, NOT the minecraft-1.2.5.jar ("minecraft-1.2.5.jar" or whatever is created by MCPatcher).
4. When you have gotten to the original minecraft.jar install modloader AND then WASTELAND MOD.
5. IT WORKS!!!
6. If it doesn't work.... YOUR DOING IT WRONG AGAIN!!!

Installing:
Firstly, Both the server and the client must have ModloaderMP for Minecraft 1.2.5,
The client needs Modloader as well as ModloaderMP,
To install Modloader and ModloaderMP on your normal minecraft.jar (because if you don't install it then you can't connect to the server),
you just have to drag and drop, standard procedure.
Then you need to:
1. Make SURE you have ModloaderMp (server side) on your server.jar(If you don't know where that is, I will explain further down below).
2. Make Sure the client side (people joining your server) also has Modloader and ModloaderMp (client side).
3. drag and drop the WASTELAND SERVER 1.2.5 class files into the minecraft server jar. 4. Then you start the server and HAVE fun!
5. (OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED)Install the normal mod (wasteland for Single Player) into the clients normal jar, and make sure it works. This can stop things like other biomes or whatever from spawning.
The Client MIGHT have to have the normal wasteland mod(SSP) installed or else buggy things like, snowy biomes being spawned or stuff like that might happen.
If you are not sure how to open the minecraft_server.jar, It is a separate download,
One that is not included in either the normal minecraft, or the server.exe.
You have to go here, download the "minecraft_server.jar",
Then you have to set it up! Here's a good tutorial!

The Server version may be a bit buggy, and that's because I can't really test it out thoroughly.

Thank you so much for reviving this mod... I'm so glad to have it back. I do have it working with Forge though... Right now I am running with Modloader, ModloaderMP, Forge and Wasteland loaded into the .jar, and Buildcraft, Industrialcraft, Redpower, Laser mod, crafting guide and ropes+ in the mod folder, and it is working fine. I had to cut out some of my usual mods because they didn't work and caused conflicts or crashes. Or just didn't feel appropriate for a post apocalyptic scenario. So far so good though... Taming the broken world and trying to restore civization, one peice of salvaged equipment at a time...

I have all these running together with wasteland the only glitch I have had happen is when trying to sleep in bed the game crashes it still saves the spot as your new spawn you just can't use it to sleep(this glitch seems to be due to the herobrine mod).
It doesn't seem incompitable with the smooth version, that's what i'm using. but I have these crashes when I walk and mine on certain chunks, maybe it could be caused by that?
No problems with Optifine here. I agree, I would like forge compatibility, this mod plays beautifully with IC2.

Hiya, Silver_Weasel here (for all unaware, I'm the original Wasteland Developer). I just want to say a few things,
-Good Job on getting the mod working and updating. I know I'm a complete douche for not updating or responding to anyone through pms, and the fact that you managed to update without my support or the original source is awesome. Also, if you managed to actually look through my ruins code and understand it then you deserve a medal. I also see that you ported it to modloader, which is good, as hopefully you won't have to basically rewrite the mod every time a new minecraft version comes out.
-I Have No Plans to take the mod back over as of now. Basically I'm swamped with life and other stuff and while I would love to update Wasteland all day long and try adding cool new stuff I just don't have the time or the willpower. I will try to check in on this topic and provide support and answer silly things like bug reports, and I might sift through my somewhat destroyed harddrive to find the source code so I can post it. I may try and come back in the distant future and work on the world generation side of Wasteland, but right now that isn't a possibility for me.
-You Have my Full Support to continue updating this if you want. I'm glad that you're going to try and add in all those cool things people asked for like mobs and items, and my only suggestion is that you keep the mobs and items in a separate download so that people who simply enjoy the worldgen can play that, and that add in mobs if they feel like it. On the subject of dungeons -
They were in fact edited dungeons but I think sometime between either the 1.7 - 1.0 or 1.0 - 1.1 update I forgot to copy it back over, so the dungeons spawned normally.
Oasis -
They should still be spawning, I don't remember ever leaving them out.

Yes they were in there but I think they got taken out for some reason or another.

I haven't tried out the texture packs, and since I saw that video, I think I'm going to start testing them because that one had some stuffed up textures (why was netherack looking like water?).
I kept the mod the same from when he did it..... mostly.
I made the graves spawn, which he did have the code for, but didn't actually implement ( I think...).
I think I lowered the amount of dead trees spawning, since there was like HEAPS before.
I am definitively going to be adding more ruins, and make them more spaced out.
The primary idea was to get it back to 1.2.5, but the way he did it, I was not to sure so I completely recoded it for 1.2.5.
Oh yeah.... I'm thinking of adding in radiation and stuff like that.
since your adding new features it seems can you try to make the generation optional like having a choice between vanilla or wasteland?

3. Open up the minecraft.jar using a program like winrar.
4. Drag the .class files inside of the Wasteland folder into your minecraft.jar
5. Install Mod-loader.
6. Delete the META-INF folder inside the minecraft.jar
7. Launch Minecraft and start a new world(or use an old one if you want all new chunks that are generated to be wasteland).
Installing with MCPATCHER(IF it doesn't work the first time):
1. FRESH JAR!!!
2. Patch it with MCPatcher.
3. Go into the minecraft.jar, NOT the minecraft-1.2.5.jar ("minecraft-1.2.5.jar" or whatever is created by MCPatcher).
4. When you have gotten to the original minecraft.jar install modloader AND then WASTELAND MOD.
5. IT WORKS!!!
6. If it doesn't work.... YOUR DOING IT WRONG AGAIN!!!

Installing:
Firstly, Both the server and the client must have ModloaderMP for Minecraft 1.2.5,
The client needs Modloader as well as ModloaderMP,
To install Modloader and ModloaderMP on your normal minecraft.jar (because if you don't install it then you can't connect to the server),
you just have to drag and drop, standard procedure.
Then you need to:
1. Make SURE you have ModloaderMp (server side) on your server.jar(If you don't know where that is, I will explain further down below).
2. Make Sure the client side (people joining your server) also has Modloader and ModloaderMp (client side).
3. drag and drop the WASTELAND SERVER 1.2.5 class files into the minecraft server jar.
4. Then you start the server and HAVE fun!
5. (OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED)Install the normal mod (wasteland for Single Player) into the clients normal jar, and make sure it works. This can stop things like other biomes or whatever from spawning.
The Client MIGHT have to have the normal wasteland mod(SSP) installed or else buggy things like, snowy biomes being spawned or stuff like that might happen.
If you are not sure how to open the minecraft_server.jar, It is a separate download,
One that is not included in either the normal minecraft, or the server.exe.
You have to go here, download the "minecraft_server.jar",
Then you have to set it up! Here's a good tutorial!

Finite Liquid Compatibility Patch [1.7.3]

I haven't tried out the texture packs, and since I saw that video, I think I'm going to start testing them because that one had some stuffed up textures (why was netherack looking like water?).
I kept the mod the same from when he did it..... mostly.
I made the graves spawn, which he did have the code for, but didn't actually implement ( I think...).
I think I lowered the amount of dead trees spawning, since there was like HEAPS before.
I am definitively going to be adding more ruins, and make them more spaced out.
The primary idea was to get it back to 1.2.5, but the way he did it, I was not to sure so I completely recoded it for 1.2.5.
Oh yeah.... I'm thinking of adding in radiation and stuff like that.

try not to take too much away from the vanilla feel. That' what makes this mod so great, there's no features that stray away from the original game.
