Splitbolt's BetterNether Mod VERSION 1.3 IS LIVE! SCORNBARK TREES!
(The armor textures in version 1.3 do not function, this is fixed, will be added in the next update!)
PLEASE READ THE FULL O.P. FOR ALL THE FEATURES, AS THERE ARE SOME FEATURES LEFT OUT OF THE SCREENSHOTS SECTION!!
Changelog:
Added ScornBark trees, sapling, wood, and planks. Purely for decor at the moment, will be used in tools and as fuel in version 1.4
(You cannot bonemeal the sapling, but it will grow naturally. Please, TELL ME if it never grows!)
NOTE: There is a recipe for the sapling at the moment, although I may add it into the Hell biome's world generation. Let me know what you think I should do. I have not, because I think it would cause problems with compatibility, and also, the trees would often be generated near lava, which would burn them <.<
Recipe = Refined Netherrack on top of Oak Sapling (the greenest sapling).
The wood textures ended up as the same texture as wooden planks. This is NOT sopposed to happen, it did happen because I registered scornbark planks as a new BlockWood, instead of creating a new class file. This will be fixed in 1.4 as well, so dont worry, you'll get unique red planks.
About the mod:
Split's BetterNether is a mod about giving the vanilla Minecraft's nether more of a purpose, and also adding more Nether-related items. The vanilla Nether has very little to do besides farm blazes and nether wart, whereas with BetterNether, you have to dig through the nether and obtain several resources, to find new tool sets, armor sets, new dungeons(Planned feature), new enemies(Planned feature), and new farm-able resources.
However, it is still in development. There are many more planned features to be added into this mod, to help it live up to its name. Suggestions are always welcome, but I ask that you please read the "Planned Features" section before posting.
Also, any mod spotlighters, lets players, and texture pack artists are welcome. I'm not picky about what videos or textures, just message me about it.
You may not redistribute this mod without my direct consent. Do not put it under an adf.ly. link either.
About the setup/coding: I set up this mod with several mod_ classes, the reason for this is easy organization for me, and also, any player who chooses they want 1 feature, but not another, can mix and match mod_ classes around to eliminate features they dislike. They may want to do this for compatability reasons, like eliminating toolsets to use another mod that uses uk.class, or eliminating parts of the mod to clear up IDs. I only advise doing this if you have knowledge of how mods are actually made, so you do not delete a class that is required for another.
(Also, as a side note, pheonix requires blazeshard, which requires foolsgold and RefinedNetherrack, you must have all of these classes to use pheonix. Also, all toolsets require uk.class)
FEATURES:
-Adds two new toolsets: Netherrack, and Phoenix.
-Adds 1 new armor set(Textures do not function properly in v1.2, will be fixed):Phoenix
-Adds a new ore: Pyrite. Pyrite, being fools gold, is not usable for tools. it must be refined with two new
-items, Refined Netherrack, and Blaze shards.
-Adds the ability for the player to craft nether brick, and ice.
-Adds a new torch, crafted from blaze shards and rods.
-Adds a new fuel: Refined Netherrack.
Note: Phoenix items are spelled correctly in-game, but not in the coding. Please tell me if you find any items with the name "Pheonix" instead of "Phoenix"
DOWNLOADS:
There are two available downloads for this mod. For those who want only the Netherrack tools, use the second download. For those who want the whole mod, use the first download.
Version 1.3 is now released! (I know about the problem with the armor texture, will be fixed eventually.)
(Note:The wood textures from 1.3 ended up as the same texture as wooden planks. This is NOT sopposed to happen, it did happen because I registered scornbark planks as a new BlockWood, instead of creating a new class file. This will be fixed in 1.3.1 as well, so dont worry, you'll get unique red planks.)
INSTALLATION(IMPORTANT):
*Requires Risugami's Modloader*
1)Open up .minecraft and then bin
2)Open minecraft.jar with an archive manager like winrar or 7zip
3)Drag and drop all the class files from modloader into minecraft.jar
4)Delete that stupid old META-INF folder
5)Drag and drop all the folders and class files from SplitsBetterNether into minecraft.jar
6)Run Minecraft and enjoy!
*VERY IMPORTANT: You can NOT put the zipped file into the 'mods' folder. It will not function properly, and your Minecraft will crash.*
Compatability:
This mod SHOULD be compatable with any other mod, unless that mod uses uk.class. Any mods that have a uk.class that don't include a tool material called NETHER and PHEONIX will NOT function with my mod at all.
Also, if any mods use the same IDs as mine, they will not function.
List of IDs used coming soon!
Mod Spotlights:
Honeygloop was kind enough to make a mod spotlight as well, you should check it out! I would put it on the post if i knew how, but anyway, heres the link.
(He left out a few features, he hadn't updated to version 1.2 yet, but there is more now, check out the features section, and also the screen-shots, getting refined netherrack is a little different now.)
oops, did I leave toomanyitems on in this pic? Lmao
Planned Features:
-A unique sword, found in dungeon chests and not craftable.
-Fix Phoenix armor.I HATE this, I cant seem to figure out what is going wrong, so yeah, this will take a while.
-Nether village, containing "corrupted villagers"(Hostile!)
-A new crop, Twisted root.
-A new Gui/crafting interface that grinds crops into dust, to be used in potions and other recipes.(Mortar and pestle, or alchemy workbench)(Next Update!)
-A new liquid to work around the next update to minecraft, where they will fix the ice glitch.
ScornBark toolsets, and sharpened ScornBark toolsets.(next update!)
-Nether themed crafting table(WIP, will be a special interface, used to craft more items)
Bug fixes for the next update: ScornBark Planks textures, Change the ScornBark leaf texture to fast, to fix the x-ray glitch, and finally Phoenix armor will have the correct texture! Hooray!

The easiest way is just to post on this thread, or send me a forum message, because I'm on the forums a lot.
As a side note, I want you to at the very least look at this thread, I think it makes really great points about minecraft, and PLEASE. READ THE WHOLE THING!

Also, if you are up for playing with me, you'll be able to find me on this amazing server: http://www.minecraft...reat-community/
My username is, quite obviously, Splitbolt.
It will be better once it updates. The next ore and craftable ice will be in the next update... But armor confuses me, that might take a bit to work out. I dont really want to use minecraft forge, so I think it will be difficult.

I soppose that means it must be in the WIP thread. Ok sorry about that, removeing this, adding a new thread.
No! You have a download so it being here is fine. You just need to fix the title.
Looks great split i am downloading the full version now, and thanks for including me in your beta test
Glad to have some Beta testers, Helped the mod become a real production. I plan to release the next update soon, maybe even this week to help the mod really live up to what I named it. How does craftable ice and amethyst ore/toolset sound? I really want to fix the armor too, but that I think will take some time. Its going to be a pain to code T.T And I probably would've added in the new crop by now, If I could think of an actual use for it XD. Maybe a fire bomb/grenade splash potion?
Hmm... How does ghasts dropping fire charges sound? I could add more uses for fire charges too, like a player throw-able fire bomb
I lied. Im still working on the armor, Dont expect it in the next update :/
How about a harming potion + a fire charge would make for example, "Splash Flame" and a harming 2 potion could make, "Splash Flame 2". "Splash Flame" could make a 3x3 area of fire where a "Splash Flame 2" could make a 5x5 area of fire. Just some suggestions and I like the ghastly dropping fire charges but just as a rare mob drop. Thanks

I'm not sure if its possible to change mob drops, but I do like the idea. I also like your fire idea, Ill look into it.
Two new banners added to the OP. Support the mod and use one as your sig! Also, feel free to make your own banner, and if you send it to me, I'll put it on the OP!
