That depends entirely on which version you're running. In first release, pokemon go on the right and wheat on the left. In the current dev release the healing table is being rethought/redesigned and so currently doesn't work. You can however always sleep to heal and revive your pokemon or use potions if they haven't fainted
Golden apples sound good for the rare candy recipe- Maybe something like;
[Tried to go with rare stuff that was still more or less food. Just don't think diamonds really fit in a food type recipe. Besides that, I personally never have trouble finding a lot of diamonds and I don't hold rare candies in very high respects either ;P]
I'd use it for non-consumable items and such. Can't think of any examples where they'd be used in a recipe [Arceus's plates maybe?] but still, I'd rather not waste a non-renewable resource on something that for sure will be devoured.

I just wanted to say i cannot believe how much support and love this mod has gotten! And it's all thanks to you guys! And to think, if i hadn't accepted mark's offer to start this back up it never would have happened. I also wanted to say, to the modelers, you guys are making great models, and i think we will be done with all of the pokemon in no time at all! Also i wanted to say to those who contributed code, especially Mr. M, that you guys are lifting this mod, not only off its feet, but also out of the atmosphere! The SQLite idea was pure brilliance, and is the best feature of the mod! Now as for myself, well, I have decided to expand my knowledge of Java and OpenGL, so maybe, when i complete my goal, i can add tons of new graphic features! Again, it is you guys, the community, that made this mod the way it is

Right now, it really isn't fair to compare this mod to PokeCube or PokeMobs, since this one is still so early in development. Wait until the next version releases [anyone got an eta on that btw?], then you can start comparing.
adding pokemon can't actually introduce bugs now. I've isolated the code surrounding that so that the main code base is well insulated from the pokemon processing code. The base system is getting all my attention too and it's really starting to feel incredibly solid. Most recently i reworked my spawning code somewhat to reduce the amount of info loaded at spawn time. We were getting a bit of lag whenever it tried to spawn but it seems that it's been reduced pretty well. Now it's barely noticeable.
All i think we really need in this before we go to release is the healer block but i still can't come up with a good idea. And I may introduce a stripped down gui as well that can be switched between with the main one. I'll only do that though if more people than hiroku bug me about it.
I have found a bug. When i first played a world and it asked what starter pixolmon i wanted as a starter, i clicked charmander, then i got the item, then the same screen came up asking for a starter, and it has been up, even with an inventory filled with charmanders. PLZ fix
i see a lot of potential in this mod
been fixed in the dev. Go to the wiki and forums people.
Idea for the healing table. Maybe a block that is relatively easy to make, just iron and stone with wheat in the center and heals ur pokemon for free and relatively quickly. But when you break it, you dont get anything from it, that way people wont just carry it around and insta-ishly-heal their pokemon.
