THE CREEPER APOCALYPSE MODE! THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE MODE!
That's right, the apocalypse is here, and there's nothing you can do about it. You have one day to prepare, but after that, comes the eternal night of monsters. At first, you think to yourself, "This is easy, I'll just build a shelter, collect tons of meat and live there!", but your wrong. After a while, you'll run out of meat, and will need to secure other means of food. You might be able to survive well on your meager resources, but if you solve that problem, another arises. Cabin fever. That's right, how long can you stand to live the same way in the same shelter in eternal night? Is your mind tough enough to last forever? I doubt it.You get more points for more zombies or creepers killed. When you die, it's all over and you get your final score. If you play this mod till death, feel free to post your score here along with your tale if you wish to tell it. And now we get to see how long you'd
Features:
You get one day, and one life.

I apologize for not having updated this. I was busy serving a mission for my church in brasil until April 2014. Now that 1.8 is out, things should begin to go smoothly enough for me to reupdate this. Here I go.
EDIT: Someone replaced my links with adfly links. I have fixed them. I have never and will never use those. If you see those, then do not follow them.
Infinite mining! That, and if you found a NPC village, you could just live in safety, farming wheat behind a dirt wall you built the day before
tl:dr, awesome mod!
What if the zombies could break some blocks to get to you like dirt/gravel/sand, stuff easily dug with your hand? Or perhaps that could happen in a certain timeframe, like 10 minutes into the eternal night.
Also, can you tell me if this is multiplayer compatible?
Very simple, even more than most other zombie mods I've seen. No guns, no unnecessary craziness, just vanilla minecraft with zombies. I'll post my scores later today.

I'm working on a multiplayer right now. The SMP mod is available. It's exactly the same as the normal mode, except that in multiplayer, people can respawn (but they likely won't last long unless the spawn point is protected), and OPs can change the time.
I personally am against having zombies break blocks. Here's why:
1)Hiding underground? So are the zombies. Good luck.
2) There's no bone meal. Need wood? Too bad. Hungry? Have some wheat... oh wait. Farming animals? Wait, don't you need wheat for that? Yeah, you'll be down to rotten flesh in no time...
3) Zombies already break through doors, that's scary enough!

I thought about that, but I also thought about this:

So yeah, not likely going to add break block mode, because that means that if there are any underground in the day time, they'll break out. Doors are enough.
By the way, could you lower the spawn rate? Just normal zombie spawnrate should be fine; the zombies accumulate too fast at the moment, and my PC just can't keep up.

But then it wouldn't be a zombie apocalypse. Sorry your computer can't keep up. Maybe try lower graphics settings?

I have tried lower graphics settings, but to no avail. And normal spawn rate isn't as bad as it sounds; there will still be an unrelenting surge of zombies spawning as you kill the others; there will just be less in one spot at a time. But yeah, if I'm the only one with lag, I guess you don't need to change it, but if other people are, then it's not just on my end. Hopefully we can figure this out.
Try making it to where each zombie despawns after some time, instead of just at certain distances, so that it can keep at a constant rate of spawning/despawning, and there will still be apocalyptic amounts of zombies, but they won't accumulate to the point of not being able to play due to lag.

Actually there is a limited number of zombies that can be spawned near you at any given time, and they already despawn after a specific period, so the only time new zombies appear is after one despawns, or you kill one.
Updated to 1.1 to fix ticking glitches (Water, Lava, Plants) that occurred after midnight. The only way to do such is to allow the world to spin, so to compromise for this, I allowed the world to spin between midnight and 1:00am, at which it will snap back to midnight and start over.
Hopefully, for those of you that become skilled enough to survive and use running water after midnight to grow plants and food, this will solve the time and water issue.

i hope this can be a world option. therefore making it toggleable.. just like creative/survival/hardcore/apocalypse.. good idea though. the SMP was a nice touch too.

That's exactly how it works. (Except it can't be toggled in game, the same as hardcore)
If you meant that it should already be included in the game, then I think so too
haha thats awesome i just did a mod review on this but really the IMMENSE lag that is caused by the really high spawn rate should be fixed mabye make it a bit lower?
