So I'm never going to get an answer on why my natural regen disappears after reaching a, "Dying of Thirst" mode, even after replenishing both hunger and thirst? This mod is my favorite mod of all time and I don't want to stop using it. But knowing that it destroys my natural regen and that I love playing on Hardcore mode, I just don't know anymore.
BTW: I'm using the 1.8 version and using Minecraft 1.8-forge1,8-11.14.4.1563
Update: been trying to update to 1.8.9, but I just can't find a Thirst mod for 1.8.9. (Except this one, http://www.minecraftexe.com/thirst-mod/ but it doesn't really tell me which file is for what, even if I do download them and put them in my mods folder, it does nothing.) And since most mods either are for 1.7.10 or for 1.8.9, and 1.8 is being left behind, I don't know what to do anymore...
The minecraftexe.com mod is this mod (or is posing as this mod by using the graphics and description of this mod)... and is being hosted on a mod rip/scam site. It's a major no-no to support those guys by downloading the mod from them, instead of the original author, for several reasons. You're generating revenue for somebody else who didn't create the mod, instead of the mod author (via adfly in most cases). You're also opening yourself up to downloading fake mods that are designed to spread viruses and trojans to your computer.
You've been around since at least 2014 according to your join date. I find it highly unlikely you didn't know that.

Thing is, I only joined so I could get support for certain mods if something happens. I barely do anything else except play the game. So surprisingly to you and everyone else here, I actually didn't know that about that site. I've since deleted the file and just run 1.8 now. So, sorry if I unintentionally did something to you and your mod, man.
(I still don't know why my natural regen is gone after what happens, but I fixed that by getting another mod to add more early healing items. So it's not all bad.)

Alright, fair enough.
Also, I'm not the mod author, nor has this mod been actively developed and supported in over 2 years. I don't play MC1.8 otherwise I would have taken a shot at trying to help you solve your problem. Did you try using the version the mod author created, and posted in the first page? thirstmod-1.8.15.jar

I was just reading through the Issue Tracker on GitHub to see if I could find any clue as to what you're experiencing, and I came across this issue that I filed:
That leads me to believe that the author might have ported the MC1.8 version, from an earlier version of the mod for MC.1.7.10 that didn't have that fixed in it at that time, OR... that he forgot that he misunderstood how "doNaturalRegeneration" works, and then repeated the same mistake he made when he ported to 1.8.
So I guess what that means is, it's highly likely this bug has resurfaced, and you've (re)discovered it, but unfortunately, I don't imagine it will get fixed. Your solution for getting around it is very good though.

No matter what version, 1.8 or 1.8.15 they both have the same problem. Natural Regen is gone after reaching the "Dying of Thirst" mode. It's okay, it just adds a new level of difficulty now, I'm okay with this. Thanks for the help anyway, man. (Medicine Craft is what I'm using, so sugar is god now in my game.)
I'm gonna try update this mod over the next couple weeks. It's most likely gonna be a complete rewrite and I might scrap the custom drinks stuff cause I probably have a hundred bugs in it that I never fixed. I'll add it back again in the future.
I need to spend time learning what's changed with Minecraft in the past couple years. So this update might take a few weeks/months.
I won't be releasing updates for the intermediate versions between 1.8 and 1.12 and just an update to the newest version of Minecraft when I'm finished.
Thanks PitchBright for helping with some of the issues people have been posting here.
Also if anyone wants to assist in the update in any capacity (programmer, texture design, etc) feel free to contact me. I can't really offer any benefits at this stage and I will be scrapping the download link behind a ad site.
please, can you update this mod to minecraft 1.12;2. like PopularMMOs said this mod should be in vanilla minecraft.i, personally need a thirst mod and still trying to find the right thirst mod around the minecraft related section on the internet. but haven't found it yet. please, i am willing to donate a large sum(10$ is the maximum).

Is it possible to have the clean canteen's to restore more than 1.5 droplets?
Come over and check out Wulf Hollow Server!

Could you make this work for 1.8.9, not just 1.8.0?
Excuse me, but the thirst meeter dosent appear for me. Everything else in the mod does except for the thirst meter. Can anyone help?
Edit: Don't worry, it's working now.
Is there a way I can configure this mod so that thirst decays slower, and for drinks from Food Plus to work with it?
Have you taken a look at the config file?
Do modded drinks work?
