Changelog:
v1.3.2(expansion only): Added stoked crucible remelting recipes for the iron and gold RBDTools, returning any gold/iron used to make them, including iron from shears/flint and steel for the gold ones.
v1.3.1: Nerfed Refined Machete to have equal damage to the newly-nerfed refined sword from BTW. This is a change to the core download, not the expansion pack.
v1.3.0: Changed general code construction to allow for the BTW add-on.
v1.2.0: Added the Kukri, Carpenter Saw and Mason Pick.
v1.1.0: Added tool tiers, removed machete's tallgrass collection ability since it was bugged.
v1.0.0: initial release, Machete, MatchPick and Spade.
Hello fellow miners and crafters! If you're like me, you feel like you just never have enough space in your quickbar to avoid re-arranging your inventory on an annoyingly regular basis. Well, no longer! Once you download this mod, you can craft some handy tools, equipped with handy dual-features to save inventory space, but without letting you do anything you normally could not. These tools are:
THE SPADE
This is a broader version of a normal shovel, and its wider scooping blade allows you to easily sling dirt around by right-clicking while you have dirt in your inventory.
THE MATCHPICK
Picture a situation where you'd need a pickaxe but wouldn't need torches. Go on, do your best and try to picture it. Pictured it yet? Good. For the other 99% of the time, there's this special pickaxe, outfitted with a handy ignition implement at the base of it, allowing you to light torches without letting go of your pick. With this tool, you can place any torches in your inventory by right-clicking.
THE MACHETE
Shears are built for shearing sheep, not for navigating harsh jungle environments, clearing away tough spiderwebs, and other such dangerous, foolhardy and manly activities. The right tool for the job, as they say. That's where the Machete comes in. It's a special sword which is built not only for cutting monsters, but also for cutting (and harvesting) dense plant life quickly. Alas, this versatility comes at a price, as this tool, while effective as a weapon, is not built specifically for it, and thus cannot block. Instead, right-clicking will place a vine on the surface you're aiming at, if you have one in your possession.
THE KUKRI
Using the closest thing to a handheld blade he has as a model, Steve can build upon it and create a handy tool made especially for harvesting and planting trees. This Kukri is effective against logs and leaves (but nothing else), but is also lightweight enough to be held in one hand, letting you plant saplings easily with a right-click! (Places apple tree, spruce, birch and jungle tree saplings)
THE CARPENTER SAW
A tool for builders everywhere! This saw is built for easily placing and removing wooden planks, perfect for wood-based building projects. Right-click to place wooden planks. (Places all 4 color types of wooden planks)
THE MASON PICK
This special pick takes the idea behind the Carpenter Saw to its logical stone-based conclusion. This pick is great for projects working with stone. Right-click to place one of many stone-based blocks. (can place smooth stone, cobblestone, stone brick, brick, netherrack, nether brick, mossy cobblestone and obsidian)
These all come in gold, iron, and diamond versions, but not stone or wood. If a tool is capable of placing multiple different blocks, you can change what block it's set to by right-clicking while holding the tooltoggle key (F by default in the config file). A message will pop up to tell you what the tool is now set to.
Finally, all of these tools (with the exception of the matchpick) enjoy a 10% durability bonus over vanilla tools of the same tier.
BETTER THAN WOLVES EXPANSION:
Download the Better Than Wolves expansion, and you can add soulforged steel versions of these tools! Recipes are as follows:
These are crafted on the anvil, and can be melted down back to soulforged steel in the crucible.
Needless to say, you MUST have Better Than Wolves installed to use this expansion.
Let me know if you encounter any bugs. It edits no base class files, so all you need to do to install it is to install ModLoader and then put the downloaded zip file in your mods folder.

Good ideas, good ideas. But I have one beef - the machete. Are dead shrubs supposed to spawn from mowed grass?
...No. no they are not. I think that's an issue with an unsupplied damagevalue for the dropped block, I'll fix that with the next release, which will have better images and more tool tiers
Left click: make fire like normal flint and steel
Right click: active TNT
I'm sorry, but I don't believe it's possible to do left click functions, and a hoe with a right-click use wouldn't be dual-use, as its existing functionality is already exclusively right-click.
yeah like that but better graphic @@_ Like Uranium Paxel in Uranium Mod @@_ It's good + right Click torch xD it would be good
Eh, you don't need to do all three things in the same scenario though... Maybe something like the BTW mattock which is just a pick and a shovel, that would be nice...

mattoch seems good for explorer I Like It~ The Special Ability??
mattoch seems good for explorer I Like It~ The Special Ability??
I don't think it needs one, it's already a tool hybrid, built more for clearing out an area than for cave exploration, which the matchpick is built for.
1: Entirely accidental
2: I don't see how it can be shameless if the mod I'm "Plugging" is currently way WAY more popular than this one, and if it's my own mod
I'm sure that was just a little playful jab on your part though

Hmm.. Continuing discussion from the other forum.
Firstly, lets get this out of the way: I love the concept behind this mod. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this idea goes, and to testing it for you. This has the potential to make it into my "Must Have" mods. Now because I love it, I'm going to be offering a lot of constructive criticism. That's just how I am, I only take the time to tear apart things I want to see fixed. I just want to make sure that I don't leave you with the impression I don't like what you are doing.
The recipes still need some tweaking, I think. Simply combining the two tools in use is too simple. Take the machete: Functionally combining a sword and shears makes sense, but that wouldn't look anything like a machete. It'd look like a sword with scissors on the end. A sword with two more pieces of iron along the diagonal is functionally the same recipe, but less conceptually weird. The spade and matchpick's recipes work great in this regard. I know there are a few more tools coming, and I want to be sure that combo tools aren't just "both tools we're combining." At least add another ingot to such recipes to tie it together.
Second, I would encourage you not to use patternless recipes. Definitely make the player arrange the items appropriately. Conceptually, recipes that have layouts are crafting recipes, while those with no layout are more like reactions. Functionally, this frees you to make more different tools. Take a Kukri and a Machete. A kukri's recipe might be
[ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [i] [i]
[s][ ] [ ]
While a machete's would be
[ ] [ ] [i]
[ ] [i] [ ]
[s][ ] [ ]
Both are a sword and two iron, but the results are different. Thus the recipes make a little more conceptual sense, and you as the designer have more freedom to add more tools later.
Speaking of more tools, stick to your guns about not making the Paxel. Design each tool with a specific task in mind, and don't combo tools just to clear inventory space.
Again, I'm really loving this mod. Keep up the good work!

Found a way around it
