When MC Forge is updated to 1.7.2+ and released around December. All current mods requiring MC Forge will have to wait to update till then. Unfortunately it's like this due to the fact that Mojang drastically altered things with this current release unlike in the past which in turn has caused a mess for the MC Forge team.
I'm putting together a private server modpack (small, whitelisted server - distributed only to members), hopefully for use with ATLauncher and, per ATLauncher's requirements, I need permission from the authors of mods in the pack in order to include them.
Do I have your permission to include VoxelMap / Zan's Minimap?

I may have run across a bug with VoxelMap. For some reason, when I connect to a server that is NOT a numeric IP, but a fully qualified domain name, waypoints will neither be read from nor written to disk. For example, say I connect to 123.45.67.89:12345. Then the waypoints work fine. If, however, mc.somedomain.com is an alias for 123.45.67.89:12345, and I connect using that instead, waypoints will not work. They can be created, but as soon as Minecraft restarts, they no longer appear. I've only tested this with my personal server, though, so it could be something wrong with the way I've set up the DNS, but I think it should work anyway.
impiaaa,
I do not have the final answer for you, but I can confirm that I use a domain name to connect to my favorite server, and VoxelMap stores and retrieves waypoints to a .points file on the local machine just fine.

I am sure others may have more to say on this matter.

I had this happen to me when my server changed addresses. Look for the .points file and rename it to the new address and all your waypoints will be there.
Assuming no weirdness to your configuration, look in the .minecraft\mods\VoxelMods\voxelMap folder.
They never made one, its 1.5.2 and up... <-- Almost sure on that.
There's a Version for 1.2 Beta from the original "Zaneris": http://www.minecraft...mapzmod-30-jan/
so i thought there would be one for everything inbetween.
If Forge isn't ready when MCP is I'll put out a jarmod version and people can figure it out. Forge version will follow ASAP, though I may just do liteloader if that comes first
also, in the future check for updates, direct questions and support requests here

We would like to use your VoxelMap mod in a private mod pack. We would need your permission to do so.
We can give you credits for it and include a link to this post in the description of the mod pack.
