I made a mod review!
I'm a bit young, and if you think kids making Minecraft videos is obnoxious, I'm fine with you not watching it :P.
It's also 20 minutes long (I don't know what happened!) But if you want to skip the crap and get to the part where I actually use the mod, there are annotations in the video. Enjoy!

Hudacheck's TiMa Company: "Saving history since 2004!" An Adventure Map (Demo).
Hey, a friend of mine and I were wondering, would you please make a version of this mod that has SOME way to allow the size changes to be permanent, at least on SMP? We don't really want to go through a game of Survival, we just want to play around together with this mod, and we'd have loads more fun if it were a permanent effect. Besides just playing around, though, it'd also be great for puzzle or adventure maps, allowing them to better make puzzles around a gimmick of changing size (or just being at a specific size) without having to give out a ton of potions and hoping the players just stay at the required size. I know you have concerns of balance, though, and one way to balance that out would be to just make the requirements to make the item be really high, like requiring diamonds and other high-level blocks and items, or just making it Creative-only so it can't be used in Survival. (Heck, having them just as potions doesn't really make getting them be balanced when some people will hack them in directly anyway...)
So...would you please? I'd be REALLY grateful if you would.

Well, there's certainly possibilities... right now, someone who knows how to hack Minecraft server world/player files (not me!) could add or adjust the "SizeMult" value Gulliver stores in the NBT for an Entity. Setting that to 0.5 would make a player/mob half-sized, for example, and they'd stay that way until death or getting hit by one of the resizing Potion effects (or when a resizing Potion wears off). I make no guarantees on that though, since I haven't done it myself.
As for an in-game way to do permanent changes? I could add a server player-size configuration option... or, maybe (once I get the Gulliver code cleaned up and documented better) someone could make a mod with a ray gun...

Oh hey, thanks! I, personally, would like to see the server config option, but whatever you go with, thanks for listening.
I'm gonna get some of my friends to see if they can hack the NBT thing you mentioned...whatever the heck that is. lol.
i absalutley love this mod :D. i do however have a few suggestions for the mod to help make it better.
1. make it so we can use glowstone to make a downsizing 2 and embiggin 2 to make it downsizing 2 will make you 1/8 of your original size and embiggening 2 will make you 8 times your size. i know you can to that by pressing r or t but i would be a lot better to have potions for them to.
2. make it so you can jump half your height. if you were 8 blocks tall you could jump 4 block high if your 1/2 a block high you could only jump 1/4 a block high. i under stand that that will make being small disadvantaged. maybey you could add another bost to being small. people would still be able to get up ladders and vines so its not like people are stuck when there small. if you made it so you could jump half your height that would not only be better and more realistic i hate it that when your really small you can jump like 3 times your height and when your really big you can only jump 1 block high. thanks for your help
I've already got the Tier II potions for 1/8 & 8 size on my list, but need to work out the recipes and how they would combine with any resize potion effects that a player/critter may already have applied
Crouching with Shift will let you jump half your height, just as you suggested. It works pretty well to sneak while playing with the Little Blocks mod, for example, since you don't move as quickly.
Here's an assignment for you: in Survival mode, when Embiggened (4 times size or more), try crouch-jumping or falling onto a nice field of grass and flowers

ok i will try i love this mod with the little blocks mod witch is why i suggested jumping half your height but it gets kinda anoying to always crouch when you jump if you want to get a full jump plus you cant do a running jump witch is kinda sad but i think this mod is just great
i actually just came up with the solution to my problem. if you made it so that crouch jumping resulted in a 1 block jump while mini and a full jump while tall that would be perfect all you would have to do is revers a few properties in the mod or you could make crouch jumping while tall be a 1 block high jump and the rest be normal jumps, but if you did that you would have to make it so that you don't take fall damage from a jump. either way if you could do that people can still get around perfectly while small they just have to crouch jump and other wise it would just be a normal jump. it would also make this mod alot better with the small blocks mod. thanks for reading this hope you take it into consideration
Whew, okay, just uploaded Gulliver version 0.4.2 for Minecraft 1.2.4, and changed the top post accordingly. Here's what you get:
changed the debug resizing method in singleplayer
better riding on Saddled Pigs
damage dealt varies with attacker/victim sizes (you get hurt more when relatively tiny)
animals have a chance to drop more meat/material items when huge, fewer when tiny
new baby animals will be the same size as the "parent"
better chances of getting away from attack cats
walking through snow is slower when tiny
gave the "grappling rod" more force for tiny players
Now instead of the old keypress size toggling, you can resize in Singleplayer this way: press 'R' to grow, 'F' to shrink - unless you are holding a Stick, in which case you make the mob you are pointing at bigger by pressing 'R' while shouting "Maximus!", and make the mob smaller by pressing 'F' while shouting "Minimus!"
(Okay, you don't actually need to shout a spell, but it's more fun that way )
Off to finish the upgrade to support Minecraft 1.2.5
Anyone else think you were gonna get to fly overhead as Gulliver from Animal Crossing? XD
No worries, I still like your mod though I love the concept, simple but game-changing. I'd definitely focus on adding more details to the two potions, if you're thinking about things you should add. People really appreciate that sorta thing.
Also, did you get "Embiggen" from the Minecraft source, or from the Simpsons reference? I don't remember seeing it in-game, but I could be mistaken... if it's the latter, you're awesome.

Especially when you're tiny and the pig you're riding is large.
You can't see anything but the pig's innards.
There's some bugs with the gigantic block reach not registering the block breaking server side, but that's okay.
oh and and a giant snow golem killed itself in a desert biome and dropped giant snowballs.
My friend and I died laughing.
Well done on the small part of it though, was so fun running around in mini houses.

Never mind but the title for the potion is strange it comes out as potion.embiggen.postfix

See the top post. I'll also keep the versions for Minecraft 1.2.3 & Minecraft 1.2.4 available for the time being.
(Finished the update before lunch, I <3 Mercurial.)

It's a perfectly cromulent potion
