Okay, suggestions. Add more rods. A double catch rod? And you should make it that only reinforced rod is able to catch some types of fish? And definitely some sort of fish storage thing.
i have been using and came to like this mod. but i'm quite concerned in the "to do list"
it's ok to add a little more fish.. but please not that many. unless you'll use forge it would really be hard to keep all those ID's if you know what i mean
there is a crab mod back during beta and that was visible mob. nice one too.
i got a suggestion
can you make an item like an ice bucket? it functions like a portable 3x3 chest. just some suggestion. Also a rod that doesn't throw the captured fish behind. so i can fish in a boat (how about a fishing gloves? or gear for this? like fisherman's cap )

3 Diamonds on my first catch!
Lolz, when I was making the treasure trawler, three diamonds used to be a diamond chestplate, I got it the first three times I tried xD
small idea for another rod, maybe an automated rod, like once the float bobs it auto pulls in. also it should be made by just putting a reinforced rod in a CT then surround it with redstone also to stop it becoming overpowered it should only be able to be used a small number of times

Are you installing the mod in your mods folder? Well don't :P, install it in your Jar file. I know because I had the same problem.
As said before, I'm gonna see if the modding API has anything for SMP, if not, I'll take another try

Beta release of the Auto Fisher tool
It doesn't do much yet, and only catches regular fish, but I will make it detect redstone power and use bait in the next update
DETAILS: Auto Fishing Module will requires a water source block 1-2 blocks beneath it, if it has that, it will begin to fish
If there is no chest beside it, or the chest is full, the fish will be launched into the air, and we wouldn't want that now would we
